If I buy 3 of the 4 cars that you can win is it a guarntee that you will get that one car or will they just give you another one anyway?

It was a joke..dude and btw it works for me more then 75% of the time so why not the game isnt' gonna come out of the tray and smack me if i do hold down x.

Yes, but if it could, it would. I know I would.:D

Sorry to burst yur bubble guys but the cars yu win aint random. Know that black circle that movess around hit the X wen its under the car yu want and yu win it.... Yu get about half a sec per car so be quick. :trouble:

Have you listened to what anyone has said? Prize cars are completely random. There is no way to determine which one you will get. Hitting the X-button does you no good.

Well - it might strengthen your thumb muscles just that little bit more...

And I quote:

Car-selection is totally random!
The shadow thing is horse (apples)!
I may as well flip a coin,
As that would be just about as much use as pressing any button and expecting a random process to suddenly become non-random - I mean maybe I should always wear the same pair of pants just in case they have an effect, or stand on my head singing "Oh Susannah!" backwards with pencils in my ears!*
Hey!

*The management refuses to accept any responsibility if anyone actually does this. Perforated eardrums? Go and tell someone who gives a c(lap)...

*sniff* *sniff* it's so touching.

Has any one carried out documented testing on the "press X button on the black circle when it is under the car you want"?
Does any body want to help me do a test to prove or disprove ?
Maybe 5 people trying to use X button to select car and 5 more people just noting random prize selection.

I did some preliminary testing and my results were enough to indicate the x button trick may work.

The hardest part in getting the X trick to work is identifying the position of the car you want.
My testing was carried out on the Amateur Dream car Championship with the game saved to MC slot 1 after race six.
I was wanting the seven FTO LM in all colours.
Just using the PS2 to select the car I did not get a FTO until attempt 9. There were 2 RX7, 3 Imprezzas, and 3 S2000.
Then I started pressing the X button to try to influence the outcome.
My first attempts had no results as I had the timing stuffed up and got either the RX7 or Imprezza for 5 attempts. These two cars are in the next two positions so that would suggest I was slightly out.
I then got my timing right and nailed the x button when the black circle was under the FTO at the 9 o'clock position. I did this for 5 goes in a row and always got the FTO. The last 2 colours I needed were black and green. I got the Black one on the last of the 5. I was now looking for the green FTO. I stopped for lunch.
I had a hour break and then went back to it. Next attempt 3 attempts I missed and knew I had pressed X at the wrong time and ended up with either the RX7 or Imprezza. The next 2 times I nailed the X button under the FTO and out popped two green FTOs.
So to summarise I got 1 out of 9 when I let the computer spin normally. I got 7 out of 15 when I tried the X button.
After some practice I got 7 out of 10.
Certainly the odds improved in my favour.

Also note that when trying the X button I never once got the S2000 which is in the position furthest from the FTO.

Some reasons for not thinking it works:
The timming has to be spot on and slight errors may cause negative results.
Recognizing the car you want as it spins around.
Two cars of similar appearance in the circle causes confusion.
Normally the amount of time available to recognize the car you need is too small. It is only after you know the position of the car I had good results.

Reasons for thinking it works:
The car reward went from 1 in 9 up to 5 from 5 at one stage.
After practice I knew when I missed and got the timing wrong.
Lots of unverified reports that it works in the past.
Why would PD go to the trouble of programing in to the game rotating black circles for no reason?

So who wants to do the test.

I want the non believers to test record prize cars when won without pressing any buttons.
Everybody else who thinks it may or does work can test for results using X button.

I suggest using the event metoined above.
May be 100 reloads would be a good starting number?

Actually, both Famine and Der Alta have done extensive testing - on the order of 100 reloads at a sitting - and have come to the conclusion it is totally random.

Well, please explain what happened in the Super Speedway Enduro when I pressed the circle for a Chevrolet Corvette C5R and it gave me a F090/S? Prize cars are random. But you do know, I hate to burst your bubble. :D

Case for the defense: You got the timing wrong.
Case for the prosecution: It is all a lie and is totally random.
:D

I kind of doubt that anyone who truely believes that pressing the X works ever applied logic to this argument.

Why on earth would an excellent programmer ever lower himself to include code that would get around a simple 1-in-4 choice? Somebody has to sign-off on the code.

Why would PD allow such a thing to ever happen? You would have to be an idiot to make this into a programming error.

Why would they build an annoyance of getting the peach Vitz 75% of the time in the first place? Sick humour?

It's random...

Further Testing Last Night using the press X on black circle under the car I wanted gave results of 20 % success.
Random it is then. I must have just got lucky with the previous results.
