What exactly is the point of this game? It has no pits or even pitlane, it has no qualifying, they've removed key tracks such as Spa, Le Mans etc.It does not have the crazy car list as Forza. Even the 'amazing' handling has been branded 'generic' in one preview

I’d made my mind up early on that this wouldn’t be for me, but now reading that they’ve left out qualifying, this is actually taking the piss.

And on top of it all cars feeling the same?!
I feel sorry now for the ones that tried to remain optimistic and hoped for easy going racing game and my worry now is that the game will be such a flop that it causes the end of sms and any future proper project cars sim.

If it was free on ps plus I wouldn’t even feel inclined to give it the time of day!

No Spa, Le Mans, COTA or Red Bull ring all gone, so much for "all the sim you could want"

So far only Spa is officially confirmed as gone.

From what I read on discord/forum it looks like it is gone. Also from what I read private lobbies won't even be there at launch.

But the confirmed by devs No qualifying just killed it completely now, i'm guessing they just ignored the league audience. They didn't even add in the custom championship mode people have been requesting since PC1 and we were told during PC2 life don't worry we will put it in the next game

I'm taking the "all cars feel the same" stuff with a grain of salt, as you do sometimes hear that about nearly every game even when it isn't true. I've even heard multiple people claim that about PC2 which is of course laughable. Usually it tends to come from people with an axe to grind however and that doesn't seem to be the case here, but I still think we should wait and see on that one. If true, then it does pretty much take the biggest thing the game has going for it and toss it out the window. It also doesn't make sense considering all the effort they've gone to in working on updating the physics simulation bits that haven't been dropped. I do wonder if it might mean they've added some sort of hidden magic assist that works the same in any car to stabilize it(like in the first Codemasters F1 games for instance where you could recover from any slide just by holding the brake).

I personally never believed custom championships would be in from the time it was shown they were making such a major change of direction. For some unfathomable reason they just don't seem to have ever had any understanding of why anybody would want such a thing despite knowing it was an extremely frequent request. If qualifying and any such proper options for online racing is out then that will just further confirm that they really do not seem to want much of their existing playerbase back.

Yeah thats what I mean. Spa is definitely gone. The others haven't been confirmed yet. Pretty sure COTA has been seen in gameplay.

Couldn't you have found something with bigger text @Sam714? I'm having trouble squinting at that.
(By the way, you do know it's not compulsory to buy the game?)

It was confirmed by the Devs the other day that Qualifying is gone. There was also a mixed message of private lobbies one minute they said they were gone then the next minute they tried to say they would be 'patched in at some point after launch'

To be fair, Nathan also said leagues will be catered for and you can still host your lobby.
Don't know how it'll work without qualifying though but i'm sure they would have thought of something to accommodate that.

Maybe, hopefully, there is qualifying in online lobbies but not for single player modes?

Even you have to admit that it seems the existing player base seems to be a complete after thought for them with this game. The fact were now coming up with weird solutions to something as internal to motorsport and league racing as qualifying just proves how much down the rabbit hole they have went down

Thats means you can't just load up the game and create a single player custom race and and have your starting position determined by qualifying, im pretty sure in 1997 I could do that

What a nonsense game

Too abd I wasn't attending that. Anyway I believe you, but still it gor my by surprise..., I really thought sms, in other words the king of customization options (in all areas truth be told) would have allowed that, not only in MP but also on SP private.

I think i saw this in one of the recent posted videos. And yeah man it's been a surprise. I mean I don't udnerstand. Is this game really focused that much on quick action?, wasn't just expeting this

Dunno how, but previous message gone, but one marked double post stayed.

Again, there is no pit stop, so then there is no Practice and Qualifying sessions, since you have no access to a track for a free run. The only possible quialy is a test race, but then you again have random start position, which is not good.

You found me lol. Hope you are fine.

That's awesome.
Yeah it was a frantic rush to push the ready button as quickly as possible when the lobby loaded. Unfortunately people with better connections normally got the head start because they loaded in quicker.

If I remember correctly there was a trick to getting pole position every time, if you kept pressing the appropriate button while the lobby was loading then you literally went ready as soon as it loaded.

Yes i remember that.

Twice as awesome as it was before you mentioned it:). Actually the best idea for p2p racing.

Everybody rushes to ready up >>> Go get a glass of water while they get mad >>> Drive past the pile-up.
I never got to play that one online myself. I had played the demo online and had a bit of fun with it but it was completely dead by the time I went online with the full game. I did a few GAS online rounds but the community for that one didn't last long iirc.

With the main takeaway that pc3 is mainly the previous game minus many major features, it begs the question, why?

Just why???
There are major new features as well. They're enough to make up for the losses for me, but I'm not sure why we couldn't just have the same experience plus the new features and content instead.

Being able to upgrade and customize cars in a sim with physics as hardcore as PCARS is huge. I wish I could drive them in and out of the pits, though.

So far, Project Cars 3 to me is a bit polarizing and mind-boggling. The announcement of this game came out of nowhere and the direction is the opposite from what I expected. I was expecting an evolution of the formula that came from the previous 2 installments, but this is more of a revolution. A complete change in the direction.

Yes, I hear that the driving physics have not changed (possibly have gotten better) and the gamepad controls are now really good (I'll love that if that's the case). There's even now a familiar career mode layout and some customization thrown into the mix. However, throwing out features like qualifying and pitshops just is so odd. Those factors plus the change in the UI makes the game feel more arcade than what the developers are saying it is. It just seems more of a light sim than a sim. (In which from what Chris Haye has said, it probably is).

Now I can get SMS wanting to maybe perhaps cast a wider net of players that play lighter sims like Gran Turismo and Forza Motorsport. However, in spite of that; I can't fathom getting rid of certain features that their core audience liked. Gran Turismo Sport and Forza Motorsport might not be as realistic to play as probably Assetto Corsa or IRacing, but they still had pitstops. Honestly, I really don't see why they feel that it's impossible to not be able to still appear to the core sim crowd while appealing to the masses.

Here’s the thing, you can’t have a solid gamepad implementation if every car handles completely different, so it makes sense that the handling between cars would be more similar. I honestly hope that I’m wrong.
