Tbf, a bunch of car types in 1 track is something that I want to see and play around within car roster. To see how a 60's GT measure up against GT4 for example. This is something that can only be done at racing games mostly. But obviously for official events, don't pull this kind of race and only stick to 1 car class type.
Me too, but of course, multi-class racing in PCARS2 already allows this.

Having an option to organize cars by their actual classes in place of the new categories would make everyone happy on this point.

The official website for the game is down for maintenance... very interesting...

Well they’ve announced that something is happening tomorrow.

Preorders and new trailer maybe?

In the meantime, can anybody please translate? It’s interesting to see the inputs in the Xbox controller in the bottom left, and I can see that his driving becomes smoother as the race progresses.
EDIT: Also the AI looks FAR more advanced than FM’s old driveatar system. They are tougher to catch up, they defend, attack and even overtake among themselves.

ACC is good but even compared to PC1 and PC2 its a totally different thing. Its not the go to game for a good track and car list for example. That's not a dig, but its a licensed series so it's limited compared to other games.
Yep, but it's exactly the GT licensed racing game I've wanted, the game to pop in and mimic the race I just watched.
I enjoyed the multliclass racing in PC1 and 2, and the huge track list, but 99% of my time in both of those games was spent with GT3.

I hate gt3. I can't understand how such terribly synthetic; souless; assisted; uncommunicative; butchered (compared to their road counterparts,); boring, and mounted on the worst cheap tyres compound a tyre manufacturer can currently offer are so famous and bring so much attention, mostly from the younger racing fans that's true.

Maybe because they look very nice. Maybe.

And what can one say when the most famous lobbies continue to be all GT3 and Monza. It's just that depressing most certainly and speaks volumes about a very large part of the fan base.

Miss old good group C, GT1 and GT2 so much. Beautiful cars from the last great generation before all the assists era crap and overall disconnection of the pilots from their machines that it brought inevitably.

@fernandito Companies nowadays can't afford GT1 projects, and also there is no purpose in those. GT3 is accessible and cheap, and saves GT Motorsport from disappearing, including tracks. Current situation with LMP1 showing the same tendency.

Plus look around how many people bragging for accessibility and fun.

GT3 is accessible and cheap
It isn't, or at least not as much as you think.

Look for these, the numbers have ballooned in recent years and 2020 isn't helping.

Just if go off numbers, imagine having Racing Department worth developing prototypes for each year, and then compare it in a scale of road going car with advanced aero. That was a point. For some VW Polo isn't cheap, I can't debate on that:).

What might they identify as fun in a car that does 50% or more of the dangerous skill based corrections / throttle applying (TC= no problem) /braking trailbraking skill (ABS = no problem) when cornering for you through all the assisting stuff it features, and not just at cornering?

The sole fact that these racing cars are built upon all those electronic assists as the primary thing to make them drivable definitely means there's something very wrong to them, as apparently they cannot be driven effectively or even driven at all without those.

GT3 and current F1 are the paramount examples of how less and less the human factor is beginning to matter. That cannot be labelled as fun most definitely, but rather worrying.

Since this was probably aimed at me, don't get me wrong, I'm not a young fan, and I totally agree with you about GT1 and GT2. I loved those classes. I loved racing them in the Shift games, loved that Shift 2 had the FIA GT cars in it, that MC12 GT1 was the go-to. The first time I ever went to an American LeMans race GT1 was the highlight.

But they're not around anymore, and I couldn't really care less about Prototypes since they went closed cockpit. I enjoy GT racing period, GTE, GTLM, GTD. There aren't a lot of games that still focus on the old classes. Again, I like games that mimic the current motorsports I enjoy watching.

Edit, very good point in your above post, can't debate any of that.

Main purpose of those FIA regulations was stopping of people dying on track. I agree with you 100 percent how cool racing was, but current generation simply build around safety more than driving factors. It is fan to not die, and have a race, rather then what was back than.

But hey, btw, no one taking it from you. I'm driving no assists daily in GT Sport and Project Cars 2, GT3 very often, and they pretty nice without any ABS, TC, SC and others, noting except FIA or lobby regulations holds you from using it.

Got to agree with this, GT3 is probably the last class of car I'll drive with all the available cars in PC2, but when I do give it blast it's normally the Porsche & always with assists off, so much more fun.

PC2 is not a true to life representation of how a GT3 car drives. Pilots say you cannot turn assists off in these cars without spinning around 24/7. ACC simulates this very well you should try it if you like gt3.

It looks like these cars are built upon electronics assists as their one and only means for stability combined with the downforce they produce, and that their mechanical grip is next to zero, being this the main reason for them to need assists, reducing the human factor down to the bottom of important things in the list that matter to drive these cars.

Those terribly awful Pirelli tyres don't help gaining a bit more of mechanical grip as well some say, something GTE cars don't suffer from magically, and they are very similar cars.

@fernandito My take that this is more complicated than turning assists off for real thing, since turning it off on a set up with them on mind sounds wrong. If in imagination allow GT3 class to use set up assists free, then there will be different result. Not sure but midway through all those spin outs been controlled by LSD, a good example current V8 Supercars, they're driving without ABS and TC, if I understand it correct. GT500 doesn't either.

This video looks to me like it is an Arcade game, and what are you thoughts.

Does it look more “arcade” than a GT Sport race at the Tokyo Expressway or a Forza Horizon race in a street circuit in Edimburgh? No. But It does look less ”arcade” than GRID street races. However, the real question should be: Does it feel more “arcade” than “simulation”? And that I can only answer with a controller in my hand.

Seeing that video and I raced at Tokyo Expressway in GT Sport, well GT Sport is way better and to me because the video I put on here looks like and arcade game at you local fish & chips shop or pizza shop.

well... In my opinion NOW GRID looks more realistic because of realistic Car Classes. I know it doesn't have more realistic physics, but with current Mixed up classes in PCars 3, GRID definitely looks more real. You won't see Nascar car battling against GTE cars and old escort trying to pass both in GRID. You have GTE class, V8 Supercar class etc as it should be.

Few things here.

It sounds a lot like you are thinking about ABS and TC for GT3 cars as if they are the same as the road going systems, they are not, quite the opposite. These are late intervention systems, which come into play after the car has reached the limit, rather than before (as road-going systems do).

I'm not sure how you apply this argument to current F1 cars, as they have zero driver assistance systems and are currently running circa 1,000bhp!

Driver assistance systems are nothing new to motorsport, and plenty of great cars have used them in the past and plenty of great drivers been perfectly happy driving them (a bloke called Senna as one example).

My issue is, I don't mind the arcade style for attracting more gamers. The problem persists where you took away the option for simulation. I drive with the controller on sims but I want the experience in the car a little more, so I put on my headset and get in cockpit view. I use full damage with assists off or real assists on. I plan for my pitstops and tyre wear and fuel usage since Gran Turismo 1-6.
The problem is that the options for players were stripped probably so the next PC (PC4) can thrive with the features from PC3 and PC2. I don't think this is codemasters doing, I strongly believe SMS did this just to bring in revenue for their next simulation. I definitely won't be buying this game and I hope they could find a way to please their real fans again. Now i have to wait for GT7 which I've been doing for years now.

Actually. Some of later Group C cars had ABS. So it is definitely nothing new.

It was one thing to ditch the pitlane, but they provided a 'reasonable' explanation for that,

But they have now confirmed they ditched Qualifying and now even private lobbies (no guarantee of them being added I tried to get that out of the devs on discord but they wouldn't commit to it)

It's like this game is one big troll

There are 4-5 demo reviews in Italy from leading gaming sites.

They all state the physics are far from pc2, with a tendency to drifting like shift 2.

Career mode is good but there are mixed cars and strange events like gt3 cars in canyon road streets.

Best part are hot laps, one vs one and pace setter events.

At the end of the day it's like grid and they do not understand why.
