"Slightly Mad's expansive world of motorsport arguably works better as a hard-edged arcade racer than it ever did as a sim."

"So is it a sim or isn't it? After a couple of dozen hours with it, I'm not entirely sure myself, and fairly certain I don't really care - whatever this is, it's an awful lot more fun than its predecessors."

"Project Cars 3 properly addresses the inconsistent handling that's blighted the series from its inception. How it goes about that might not be to everyone's taste - Project Car 3's generous cast of automobiles are overstated things with a tendency towards oversteer that can be quickly and easily caught by a handful of opposite lock - but having spent so much time with past games tinkering with deadzones and sensitivity options it's most certainly to mine. These things are a pleasure to drive rather than a pain."

"Project Cars 3 in a new direction that's got more in common with DriveClub than it has rFactor, and to my surprise it works. This is essentially a hardcore arcade racing game, sort of akin to the TOCA Race Driver games of old as it wraps up the wide world of motorsport in something that's approachable to all."

"Project Cars' breadth has long been its strength, and at long last it's something that's a pleasure to engage with. The series' sim status sometimes sat a bit awkwardly, and its cars were certainly awkward to handle, but I never considered it might work better like this. Be warned that it's still a Project Cars game, with moments of inelegance as commonplace as its moments of beauty. With its reinvention as a brash arcade racer, though, it feels like the series might just have found its true calling."

I saw Actrollvision stream and to be honest. Those car classes aren't THAT bad... It actually gave him nice GTA race were most cars were GT3/GTE... the only odd one was V8 Supercar, and GTB class were he actually got all GT4 grid. The worst one is definitely GTC where there are Touring Cars and old Mustang and escort.

This is kind of what I expected and to be honest if its done well (and I reserve judgement until I experience it myself) then is a positive, none of which changes the utter balls-up that defines the marketing of this title.

Games Radar put it at 3.5/5 and again highlight the naming confusion.

"It’s harsh to call anything a sell-out, but Project Cars 3 truly feels like it’s abandoned its own principles in search of the mass market. At its heart, this is still a serious racing game where you must brake properly for corners, drive on the correct racing line and avoid unsettling the car through overzealous steering or dubious flapping of the gas pedal. But with so many more sim racers around since the first Project Cars came out in 2015, simply rehashing the usual in-depth motorsport career isn’t going to win any new fans. And so we find Project Cars 2 dressed up in Asphalt 9’s clothes, acting like Forza Motorsport 7 and borrowing GT Sport’s online mode. It’s a reinvention of Taylor Swift proportions and so pronounced, even its fans may not recognise it. Project Cars 3 isn’t trying to be one racing game - it’s trying to be all of them."

"Therefore it’s hard to find any other reason to recommend this over the competition or even arguably its predecessor. It’s the biggest Project Cars yet, but feels like the smallest. Go figure."

To be honest I would welcome something which will have a little bit of both Pcars 3 and PCars 2. I hope they will add some features in PCars 4 to make more fun but with more motorsport atmosphere. I love that one of review did compare it to Toca Race Driver if PCars will go this way I'm in.

I guess thats the exact problem with it. We shouldn't have to get lucky to get a decent field of cars. This problem shouldn't exist, there was no reason for the classes to change from PC2.

Yeah, the reviews have convinced me to give this a shot. Coming from a forza background I do enjoy an arcady and grindy career, even though I've been mainly playing some sim titles recently. I was also one of the few people who thought GRID 2019 was a great game, especially with my fanatec racing setup and buttkicker turned up, so I'm hoping PC3 will become my go to arcade racing game for the next year or so until the next forza or GT. The VR support on PC is also huge since I always wished GRID2019 had VR support, hope it runs reasonably well in VR.

Now I just hope GMG releases those keys soon. When is the deluxe edition supposed to unlock?

Xbox One X gameplay with the patch:

Framerate looks steady with no screen tearing, then again is just one car running. There is shadow popping and is problematic (patch the patch?)

Midnight depending on region apart the who I'm sure will get screwed to 1am.

That's got to be resolution mode (if there is such a thing) you can tell by the buildings popping out in the rear view mirror, same as PC2. That's why I always used full visual settings on the 1X, that & the time of day scale is smoother aswell.

That's good for them they're getting positive reviews but as someone that enjoyed the simulation value of pc1 and pc2 I'll never have use for this game. Again, I'm glad they're finding an audience in Gran Turismo, Forza refugees.

But let's also remember pc2 have great reviews from many top sites but user reviews weren't as kind.

"Forza Motorsport and Gran Turismo might have a bit more polish, but they haven't - as just one example among many in this most generous of games - got anything like the selection of Porsches available here."

Has anyone actually played FM7, because I continually read false claims about it daily.

Around 800 hours, plus I was an official Race Marshal and general feedback person (until I joined Codemasters).

Forza Motorsport 7 was rough at launch, and stayed that way for over a year. It improved a lot since then, but some fundamental things ultimately hold it back in a few areas. There's a ton of polish across 95% of the game, but also enough minor niggles that add up to frustration if you're a hardcore player.

That being said, I enjoyed my time with it for the almost 3 years I played, but I've moved on. I await their next title.

Ouch...

...this will not go down well on the official forum (they will say 'he's just pandering to his audience' as they did for the stream).

At this point to be fair I'm hearing his criticisms but a lot of what he's saying isn't strictly truthful. Like the weather build up, one of gameriots videos clearly showed a transition and the water build up through the race. He's getting scaling confused with not existing.

I think he definitely has an agenda with this one. The live stream decsended into just bitching and its hard to take his impressions seriously when I get the impression he doesn't want to like it regardless of whether its good or not.

Ultimately its not for him but he's damaged my opinion of him in these recent 2 vids. His impressions vid is more professional than his stream but he still needs to get some of his thoughts straight.

His comments about Codemasters were strange, as a insider to racing games I would've thought he would know that the game was pretty much (as Boris Johnson would say) 'oven ready' by the time they bought SMS, he also said that GRID was better than PC3, without playing either at this point that sounds strange given the amount of content in each game. It's positive to hear that the game will play a lot better on controllers this time around (something which the sim reviews don't seem to have tested).

Its pretty ignorant of him to say that regarding Codies. This game wasn't done in 4 months and I don't care how many people think its possible. SMS and pCars fanboys just looking for someone else to blame because heaven forbid should SMS do soemthing they don't like.

Ha, well my point was regarding the claim PC3 'has more' Porsche cars than FM7. (Although I agree with the reviewer about the liveries in PC3) And for the record, I don't agree with those who say, why would anyone play PC3 when there's Forza, as like you say most people have moved on and are waiting for the next game.

Ouch...

Tbf, in the video he says the first two games weren't that great either and that coupled with, that he still plays old GTs on his channel, the review does seem a little harsh.
Funny thing is, isn't a livery/sticker of his in the game, wonder if they'll patch it out lol.
