So they should lie about the final product because Bamco sent them an old version? Yeah, that sounds reasonable.
They didnt get a different version than anyone else yet no other site thought they needed at this time to publish how bad the FPS are at this time and in general how poor the game looks and ran, Maybe they will come tomorrow but i doubt it....

EG have backed themselves into a corner here, Give it a high rating it looks like they are trying to make up while if they give it a low score or average score it screams of justifying this original article. If only they were not so desperate for hits these days and they went back to the Eurogamer who came across as genuine gamers.

Seriously?! Come on!! Not really?!
It's just a little, very little detail, but I had something else in mind. and it should be easy to do. Be it templates or whatever. What about atmosphere, authenticity?!
This is a "racing" sim, license plates?

In short, yes, you want them to lie. You're probably going to get disappointed then.

i think they only score games 'essential', 'recommended' or nothing these days. it's already essential to me.

Who said i wanted them to lie? At least give SMS are fair chance...Give us the truth by all means on the final version but when they pull stunts like today it does them no favours especially as across the gaming world DF were already on a bit of a shuggly peg.

Yeah, I think you are looking way too hard into this. The majority of people aren't going to give a 🤬 about BamcoGate in relation to pCARS score.

Certainly not what i've been reading over at Eurogamer & Neogaf. Tons of people are totally put off now while the hardcore like us will be buying regardless.

The sad thing is EG have caused such a stir which they intended to set out to do and while they apologised they got it wrong they leave the full article up which kinda says "you know what we got it wrong but in reality were right"

Pml at Bamco Gate sounds like the people that populate our country :D

Neogaf are the definition of sheepmind, I wouldn't worry about them. As soon as another well read critic gives pCARS the hype it deserves they'll flock to the stores as they always do.

Neogaf is a drop in the ocean. They're not nearly as important as they think they are :p. Most customers don't even know what the place is.

I remember someone asking on this thread regarding the off track physics. This build is from 3 weeks ago. It looks decent, however still a bit unrealistic in the gravel traps (for obvious reasons). As far as Console goes, Id say Codemasters did an amazing job for off track physics regarding F1 2013.

Anyone that has followed the development of this game for 4 years will not be put off at all by that review because the review was walked back. The only people that would base their decision on a review that was withdrawn were never going to buy the game to begin with. It's meaningless in the long run, even the short run.

I havent been following up on this, can someone explain to me what has happened recently regarding Eurogamer and PCARS?

Eurogamer went to town on a 3 month old build, Basically saying the FPS is dreadful with drops below 30fps on Xbox One with PS4 not far behind and they are calling SMS to deliver a locked 30fps option. Graphically it did not fair well on Eurogamers analysis either.

They removed their videos but kept the article and screenshots up.

That's the thing people like you and i wont be put off but reading gaming forums across the net tonight night far to many people have been put off and already made their minds up by EG and wont be buying the game which is such a shame for SMS after their work the past 4 years. You say the review was withdrawn but it's clearly still up.

To the others it's okay saying Neogaf have no influence but if anything has shown this gen is they have ALOT of influence, Are they not the biggest gaming community in the world console wise? They kick up a storm you bet your bottom dollar devs need to react to it and have done numerous times this gen i dont know any other gaming community that has the same power as Neogaf?

With a big disclaimer describing the whole fiasco up front. I see no issue here.

That's not what I said. You even quoted me and didn't get it right:banghead:

GTPlanet has more members than NeoGAF

Sure it has a disclaimer but that was certainly not there from the start now that your joining 14 hours later! As i read tonight "Gamers eat this **** up the more negative the better!"

That's being extremely naive! Also it was not withdrawn only the videos showing how bad the FPS were.

With very little power compared to Neogaf! We'l buy anything even Codemaster racing games that came out after 2008 ;)

Neogaf have power? Next you'll be telling me there's a real life illuminati.

Neogaf is just a forum. Nothing more, nothing less. The only power they have is blowing up their own self importance and in-turn making the rest of us from the outside cringe beyond belief.

No, I think that's spot on. People who base their purchases on a preview of a what is essentially a beta, rather than the actual reviews that are surely to pop up later, are probably not even "on the fence" customers.
I suggest your read the 300 comments on Eurogamer to see how many it has put off already! Then move from gaming site to gaming site (Not hardcore racing forums like this one)

You said yourself how negativeity is rife within the gaming community. So let's think about something for a second, if a group of people have the chance to rat on something given a correct preview of the believed build of a final product to simply join in on the mob mentaility; they will. Tell me with 100% sincerity that you believe that the majority of those comments came from people intending to buy the game? I'm willing to wager not even half of those commenting cared about Project CARS until there was a reason to crap on it. Not because they don't like the game, but purely to try and put down another largely hyped game.

This preview has been amended by Eurogamer, they have done what they can do after what Bamco done(a mistake *gasp*), you say that Eurogamer should be punished and that it has sullied their name in someway but what evidence do you have of this? They previewed a build of the game that the publisher told them was a build copy. Were they to have some magic insight into knowing this was a huge mistake?

I'm willing to bet half of them didn't even know about the game until they saw the article. They're just interested in trash talking about whatever game most recently had a questionable performance review.

Why do you keep saying Bamco?

Eurogamers article was click bait nothing else dont kid yourself on by saying this was purely an honest mistake, EG were DESPERATE to get this out to the public before anyone else and severly jumped the gun (No other gaming site did while recieving the 3 month old build) Tell me why is the original article still up? Clicks clicks clicks

I read some of the comments. Some of the comments getting the most traction (+/- rating) are those below. Do you see a pattern?

Real gamers can spot trolls a mile away. They know the truth and can post a faulty review a mile away, especially in this case where all the facts are know and mistakes are admitted out in the open. This review will be forgotten by tomorrow by all but the hardcore trolls and the "sky is falling" crowd.

Your reading comments by racing fans/hardcore gamers rather than your average Joe gamers, Your casual gamers will make up at least half of PCar sales on consoles! The naivety on here is incredible compared to other sites. As i said earlier in the thread EG have went downhill so much recently and it's no wonder the 1st post you posted is where it is, But it was only 36 likes on a thread that had over 300 comments and most likely 10,000's of views.

Also SMS have had to respond to this article twice for a reason! If they were as not worried as you guys they'd of had no reason to call Eurogamer out twice.

Bamco = Namco Bandai, just short hand instead of having to type that every time. DF always do their analysis as soon as possible, they've done it with a ton of games. It's what they do, they technically critique games on a level no other mainstream journalism does. You keep saying the three month old build is Eurogamer's fault. Namco Bandai provided them with this build and said it was retail ready. How you can still play EG/DF is beyond my comprehension here, they have done it with plenty of 'retail ready' builds, like mentioned above, they even do it with demos. If we're telling Digital Foundry not to do their schtick until a game is out for the public then what's the use? Every article on any webpage ever has been made for clicks, sorry if that bursts some sort of bubble regarding that matter. The article is still up because it is still correct to the build previewed. The disclaimer is impossible to miss in relation to people confusing it with the final build. Why should it be deleted if the clarification has been made about what build it is criticising? Perhaps, in light of this retail build the article could serve to show how far the game has come. It's not a good habit to make presumptions when we do not know the whole story regarding the article
