Thats (beside the inner of the glovebox) the least thing Im interested in a replay :D
You are! But can't you ingame others aren't!?
Man, don't get me wrong here. It's just s little detail but it's a detail that comes to users mind. Like that wiggle waggle (non stiff) mirrors or rubber on the track. Small things.
Anyway, I'm tired cause some make me look like stupid just because I'm asking for something and you guys give no real answer as well! Never mind. ^^

I'm not concerned about EuroGamer review. I trust IGN more than EG. As I have followed Pcars progress on this forum, I highly doubted EG had launch build. As someone said, if Pcars is a good game, word of mouth will spread. GT1 had to start somewhere.
IGN? yeah I'm a long time reader, but Alien Isolation review *cough cough*

Anyone know what kind of failures the cars can suffer from? I know of engine failures...Are there any others? :)

Mind. Blown.
Seriously, license plate??
Is it time for that tree comparison picture to come out again??
We have to give people some slack, they come from a game where paintable spoilers or an empty screen as photo background are considered as 'amazing' updates.

@PRO_TOO : You'll be way too busy playing exciting and amazingly cool content to even have time to worry about vanity plates. 👍

Don't put me in that corner. I'm not as long around in here like you guys are. Im cool with trees and stuff. I'm focused on driving!
So, let's just leave it behind. As I said... I'm tired of this! ^^

Btt: You guys think EG will kinda apologize for that article?!

Regarding the Eurogamer article, I saw the following comments by what appears to be a member of the SMS development team. Apologies if they've already been posted in this thread (I haven't caught up with it in the past few days):

The preview was based on an older build of the game and several of its observations are unfortunately either wrong or due to bugs or items which have subsequently been addressed by the development team during the finaling process. Notably:

  • - The level of Anisotropic filtering was increased from 4x to 8x on both consoles, significantly improving the general image quality and sharpness of the road.

  • - Both consoles are set to use motion-blur at the equivalent of the PC medium setting – the differences seen on PS4 were due to bugs which were transient with on-going optimisation and not because PS4 uses object based motion-blur.

  • - The shadow differences highlighted were largely down to the various slope-scale DX11 issues we had at this time - many WMD users had reported these on PC builds and we were able to fix these bugs to more closely align the shadow rendering across platforms.

  • - The build reviewed was also lacking some significant "render bridge" camera work, which significantly improved frame pacing and the general feeling of smoothness especially when cornering.

In the article it is mentioned that Project Cars on Xbox One is using post-process anti-aliasing which is equivalent to the PC's higher FXAA settings. This is incorrect, the Xbox One version uses MSAA, or more precisely AMD's EQAA (Enhanced Quality Anti Aliasing) with 8 fragments and 4 samples, which is equivalent to MSAA 4x on PC.

Just to add to our previous comments:

- In the older build that was analysed it was possible to become CPU bound with very high numbers of AI, maxing out all 6 cores on XBox One. However, Microsoft had recently opened up 50% of the 7th core to developers : in later builds the development team was able to offload work such as the audio mixing, engine sound synthesis and detailed grass generation onto this core, fixing this problem of becoming CPU limited.

- Tracks that had water elements (sea/lakes etc) in the analysed build used an expensive cube-map method for reflections leading to inconsistent frame rate. In late March this was addressed with us switching over to use a screen space reflections method - A WMD community member did some comparison benchmarks on PC when this new technique was introduced:

"B967/B968

Azure Coast 62.5 fps/82 fps +31%
Azure Circuit 61.5 fps/ 73 fps +19%
Laguna Seca 55 fps/76 fps +38%
Sakitto GP 61.5 fps/86.5 fps +41%
Nürburgring GP 57.5 fps/76.5 fps +33%

Looks identical visually, big improvement."

The relative scaling there applied equally to the console versions.

If you incorporate our above corrections to the article, these points and some more general optimisations that have subsequently been worked on, it's easy to see why we might feel this review isn't very representative of what the development team has achieved.

Don't know about that game. Limit myself to console series FIFA, Madden, COD, Gran Turismo. My opinion of IGN comes from their reviews being published on or after release date for AAA games. That's the reference for EG's review 3 weeks before release. That said, my purchasing decision will not be based on EG or IGN alone.

Digital is the 7th regardless of region so you can keep your uk version and still get it then.

Not for consoles. Only Steam Digital is the 7th.

Boxed copies in Europe and Australasia too!!! ;) I live in Spain so, the 7th for me!! ;)

So what's the downside? Do I need to keep it to that region to play? Will I get locked out of any multiplayer action? If I swap back to the UK store will it just be the same as if I bought the game on the UK store?

I pre-ordered Project Cars!

Seriously?! Come on!! Not really?!
It's just a little, very little detail, but I had something else in mind. and it should be easy to do. Be it templates or whatever. What about atmosphere, authenticity?!
I think the plates add more to the authenticity as they make it look like a real car taken from the road and not something from the showroom or factory.

I'd rather have this:

ah 'twas only joking. I've been reading IGN since around 2001 way back when they pretty much exclusively covered games. the guy who tends to review the driving games (Aussie I believe) should give a fair review of the game as I know he's a big fan of racers
