I don't think they are working as hard as they can and not all the bugs are fixed, HOWEVER the game is still amazing and I would 100% recommend it, especially for the career mode.

Let me just add to that, that I too would recommend it now that the 2.0 patch has made it quite playable. I wish they had put more effort into engine sounds and graphics (Xbox One here), especially the car roster, which I find rather dull.

Apart from that, good break from the likes of Forza...and has good physics.

I thought it was just my PS4 (was getting paranoid after getting some FPS during the batmobile segments) but yes it is very noticable and I do agree the replays are handeled really badly (I can't stand watching more than one lap of any replay) one of the few things GT crushes CARS in.

Two possibilities:
1- either I have no idea what to look for in the replays, or
2- my PS4 handles them correctly

My replays, direct view after the race or saved ones, don't suffer from stuttering, jerking or whatever some people describe.
My only gripe about the replays is that the cam sometimes switches to back seat for a short period and then goes back to normal. I don't want that, but I don't know a way to disable it.
My replays are are at least as good as GT's, though I noticed the casual lack of shadows under cars, which gives the impression that they are not "connected" to the road.

Since a few days however I have an issue with the game pausing during a race. Pause screen flips up. I have to hit resume, which works, but the HUD is either gone, or it is different and I have to scroll to find the right one again.
Not a game breaker, but I did one race in Dubai (LMP1) where I had to resume the game more than 15 times... and that was getting a bit on my nerves...:banghead:

Did you rebuild data bases recently? or is your PS4 new?

PS4 is new since ProjectCARS, and is only used for that. I play no other games.
Just checked a replay from a race at Zolder today: apart from the mentioned camera switch and the absence of car shadow, I think it is great, really.

Interesting, I for one am getting frequent stutter and jerking motions, go and thank your PS4

Do you have a lot of replays saved ? I think there is and issuse with people having corrut data ,data lost ,game crashing if they have alot of reply saves . Just a thought not sure if thats the problem .

Just raced the new Audi R8 LMP900 in Dubai, 30 cars on track.
In the replay, when the camera zooms in on my car, I could see some stuttering on the car that was attacking me. Pretty short and quick, but noticeable.
I guess that if you get that all the time, it will quickly get annoying...

That's why i tend to only watch the replays with the trackside camera, although that in itself is not perfect, but if i view in bonnet or bumper cam for example, there's always a stuttering car near me. SMS must be aware of it, i recall Alan from VVV saying it would be gone from the final code when he was showing the previews, but alas, still in.

I think the Karts are much less insane and actually somewhat fun since update 2.0.

I tried Karts before that and it was just insanity. Made me want to snap the disc in half before burning it.

Still hate the Ginettas in GT5. Never again. I actually thought of trading it in after doing one race of GT5.

And when are they going to add in an LMP900 series? There's like 3 of them if you have the DLCs.

No, not all the bugs are sorted. But they are working on it as hard as they can.

And really, if you only plan to buy 100% bug-free games, your library will stay very small. :p

Are you sure? I don't mean to be an 🤬, but the game came out with lot of game breaking issues, after a full blown overhype machine, and we were told to be patient.

Now, after the 2.0 patch, which was said to correct some very serious issues, we gradually discover that said issues weren't fixed at all.

Examples? Red hot tyre issue and the Le Mans pit stop bug, the one which can ruin hours and hours of racing by making the AI driver crashing into something that shouldn't exist are still there, even with the patch notes saying they were corrected.

And when somebody point things out about how broken stuff is, some guys are prone to answer with cleverish remarks or going full Ian Bell.

No, I cant be sure since I dont have an 24h SMS office cam to control it. But thats what they are claiming to do and after seeing how hard those guys work and the insane working hours they put into it over the last 3+ years, I tend to believe them. However, they are only humans and humans do make mistakes.

A question about the 90 Quattro: it appears to have a KERS battery indicator on the HUD but seems to not do anything. What's the point? Not that I really need KERS anyway as I maxed out the wastegate slider which gives a lot of extra power.

I think it's a mistake lol. I pressed the button and nothing happened. I should try maxing out the wastegate slider.

If you do it'll fly off the start! Haven't done a really long race with it though so unsure how it'll affect the engine. Well worth doing though. Strange about the KERS though. Is it a HUD mistake or did the car have some kind of boost powerrrr?

Nah, it's been there since day one sadly.

Soooo I don't mean to put anyone down, but what do you honeslty do with replays? Just sit and watch them? Or are you guys posting them somewhere, what is it? I've never had any desire whatsoever to view a replay of a race I had just completed. Just curious

Wow, what a question, that is like asking some people why would they ever play online or why you only play offline.
The answer can be as simple or as complex as you want it to be, the fact that the Game offers Replays (Like Almost Every Other Racing Title) says that they offer value to people.
Even if someone were to say to me that they just like watching replays because that is what they like to do I wouldn’t even question it. Watching your replay is not that different from watching Motorsports on television and one advantage is that you are actually participating in watch you are watching.

For me personally, I watch my Replays to analyze my performance and what I did right or wrong and use that information to get better and that is why replays are so important to me.

Replays are used for creating Youtube videos, personal viewing etc.

Replays are also indispensable tool for post race an time trial analysis/review/report ( crash, incidents etc ), I would say it's necessary for online league/championship and a well edited race replay can be used to showcase the game and the race event itself ( people would want to watch how the race unfolds in a league/championship they participate in or just show to the world on YT :P ) or study a time trial lap :)

I like watching my car in action, how I performed during a hot lap or race etc.

Still..replays in any game I've played so far can't top GTs. Those are killer; makes you want to watch them over and over.

There's a post on the official forum which outlines the new career events and one of them is an LMP900 series.

Ha ha ...thats a good one ... funny question .

For me there are many reasons..

  • I like watching cars on the limit (and over the limit) and I like watching virtual cars driven by me on and over the limit.
  • It can be useful to work out if you have been hit by the AI or just encountered an invisible road block (in this game)
  • It is a useful moment to make a cup of tea / have a beer / have a smoke.
  • In games with championships I like to know what happened to my nearest rivals in a race.

Of course this is only possible if the game allows you to view non player cars in the replay - sadly this functionality once ubiquitous in racing game replays seemed to go out of fashion in the PS3 era.

I was particularly annoyed with codemasters F1 2010 (I didn't bother getting any of the others). When battling for points in the championship you had no way of knowing what happened to your rivals in the race. There's no immersion in a championship in which you don't know the story of the individual races. Totally stupid!

I haven't tried career mode in pcars, but I will be very disappointed if I can't view what happened to my AI rivals in the replays

You can't move the camera between cars in the replays or get any telemetry or even positional information. Not ideal, but i still enjoy viewing them, especially the crazy race starts.

I recall watching an AI car in a Driveclub replay once and was appalled how slowly it drove round every corner yet magically sped up when needed. Wasn't a good showcase for AI driving but i'd like the feature in pCARS still.

Really? <sigh>

I mean why would any racer want to review what happened to his competitors in an event eh? I'm 101% sure that no real racing drivers ever watch a replay of the race or have any curiosity about what happened to everyone else in the race right?

Also who would want to be able to watch the telemetry screen in a replay, I mean if you could do that you would be able to analyse it properly without trying to glance at it while you are driving. That would be completely pointless right?

Honestly these sort of decisions really detract from the enjoyment of a game for me.
