This suspense is making me lose my sanity. *starts twitching*

Lol, yeah me too mate. I've been in countdown mode for what seems an eternity. I haven't turned a virtual wheel since Oct last year when I made the jump from X360 to PS4 so I am hanging out for PCars big time!
Fingers crossed for no more delays though I am quietly confident that we will see it next month.

Yes fellas can't wait....... Interesting to see what Alan from TeamVVV says in his blog which he'll show this week..... And some new videos!! :)

Let's just hope phones get 4k displays....
There's a limit to how high resolution will be useful on such a small display in that type of application. Not only would such a resolution not provide any additional image quality that people would perceive, it would also waste a lot of power (both processing and electrical). I'm not sure we'll se those anytime soon.

However with Oculus now having a limitless budget (bought for 2 billion dollars by facebook), the only thing I can think of for them to sensibly spend any significant money on is a custom made display. LCD's are made with photolithography, so it's relatively "cheap, quick and simple". With the high FOV and proximity to the display used in VR, the current Oculus is pretty ghetto AFAIC. To get equivalent resolution to what I get with my current display situation (1080p 37" TV at ca. 1m distance) I'd need roughly a 4 k panel per eye.

well, there is one additional use for very high pixel density displays I can think of. Digital viewfinders for cameras :p. You need pretty high res on those for it to look good.

I'm worried that if they develop custom displays that will basically be made just for these things, it's going to get pretty expensive because they aren't made in very high volumes.

Yup, viewfinders is another area where it would be useful - but hey, I use a DSLR prism based viewfinder which has the resolution of single photons and a latency of mere nanoseconds :p

Of course it would cost some money to make a display (not THAT much though, people do it all the time, a new display can almost be "printed out" these days), but when you have 2 billion and the whole point of your company is to make a specialty display device... well...

Always a chance. Didn't stop them 3 times before.
I think if there is another delay a whole lot of people will completely lose any confidence in SMS, if they haven't already.
If they are about to delay again SMS will be extremely nervous about announcing it. The backlash on forums will be insane.
For all that though, I will never cancel my preorder, I'm buying PCars no matter what.

Booyah!!!

Cut track timer is now dynamic according to severity of the cut / 2. Cut track timer now accumulates in the event of multiple cuts in quick succession (however we no longer increase the cut count towards DQ'd) / 3.Timer correctly resets so that it works consistently after triggering previously during a lap / 4. Extended physics interface so that the cut track timer and other app functions now access time estimates between waypoints at a per participant level (thx physics/AI team

I loved this feature in Grid AS:cheers:. It was a wonderful way to have a light penalty for a small, unintentional track cut and help to keep the flow of the racing up.

Anyone know if rain can move in from one part of a track or does it just rain on all the track ( e.g. one end of Nords is dry while wet weather moves in from the other )?

We are starting to ask too much to SMS ;)
This feature would be great but I think we will have to wait a few years to see it in a racing simulation.

The Stig isn't on board for talking BS to the players. He was asked to help develop the game because he thought racing sims were crap.
Exactly. But I do think PC sims like AC and rF2 may be better "simulators" than PCars. PCars is like a casual sim as I see it, with it being a bit less complicated and easier to learn than the big PC sims.

Yes the time pens in GAS worked very well, best i have seen up to now. Was hoping we would get similar system for pCARS or improved 👍

Indeed, GRID AS actually had this penalty system done really well. So much that if you notice you're going to cut but immediately let go of the throttle enough to compensate the game will notice that and won't penalize you...

Why Oh Why do people have it in their heads that if it's harder to drive it's more "realistic" more of a "sim"

I'm no racing expect but when I drove a Ferrari 458 I wasn't spinning as soon as I was going round a corner or when a tyre went on a kerb I magically spun.

So I really don't get the whole it's harder to keep it in a straight line so it must be a better sim argument!!

"Harder" does not mean "more realistic".

I never said AC was better because it was harder but it does seem PCars is a lot more forgiving if you make a mistake compared to it's rivals.

On the endurance cars, are there functioning leader lights on the sides of the cars? Pre purchased my Steam copy today. Very much looking forward to it being downloadable.
