This date is all over the Internet - IGN, Polygon, Google news etc.... they better meet this deadline otherwise this incident will not help their reputation....causal gamers and causal racing gamers are already bad mouthing Pcars and a misunderstanding on the release date like this will make they (both sms and Nanco) look like clowns....
What is even funnier? that tweet says they GUARANTEE.....oh boy!

Still, I do that with every new game that comes out regardless of how much gameplay I have seen. Usually if a game gets 7.5 or higher on most review sites then I will go for it.

I really wouldn't go for 7.5 or more. This rating always depends on what the reviewers like, although pcars got good mostly very good reviews till now. I mean GT6 has 8/10 on IGN an 7.6 on metacritic when I would give it a 5/10 regarding it is not an improvement compared to gt5

Well reviewers generally focus on the game itself, ignoring what came before it.

As it's a time to be happy, i thought this would be nice.........

It seems even The Stig liked the topic of last week!! Lol!!

Beeing worse than the predecessor seems to me more and more popular these days so I think it should be considered what was possible years ago. If I don't consider GT5 for a comparison, I would still give GT6 a 6/10 max. If VW builds a Golf that is smaller, slower and same price as the predecessor it is a bad thing even if the car itself is good isn't it?

Well, yeah. I mean they've been doing that for the last 30 years but people still love them.

I will jump on the hype train and believe this is the date! the 7th makes sense for Europe as the 8th is a bank holiday. It seems, according to Namco, that the date in the UK is the 8th as this is not a bank holiday in the UK....

I reckon it's the 7th, because the last delayed date of the 2nd of April was a Thursday too, like the 7th of May will be a Thursday. Obviously SMS/Namco Bandai want the game to come out on a separate date to all the other games.... A similar thing to what Rockstar do with the GTA series, GTA4 and V came out, as well as the later patches and recent heists, on a Tuesday. PCARS will also be..... UNIQUE!!!! :D

EDIT!! now confirmed as the 8th of May!!! Lol!!

8th in UK, 7th in Europe. I have no idea why though.

Because the 7th of May in the UK is the day of the General Elections!! Blame those B*****D politicians.... Although election day isn't usually a bank holiday, therefore i would think it'll be available on the 7th in the UK too!!

It's not a bank holiday as it's a Thursday, could be the digital thing tho, is it a uk psn store or eu?

If it's the 8th I can cancel a days holiday so just double checking!

Isn't that the 4th? The 7th is a Thursday.

Yes mate, Monday the 4th is a bank holiday in the UK, to celebrate labour day. In the majority of Europe it's celebrated on the Friday 1st of May (Where i live in Spain it is for example) Therefore no complications for me.... The 7th of May it will be! :D

I think 7th EU, 8th UK and then May 12th NA

A big possibility, although if you order online you should still get it on the 7th (maybe) as the post service still runs on the day of an election.

Reported him. He's added nothing, no posts in his entire time in WMD, and then does this. He deserves absolutely diddly-squat!

EDIT: I suppose I can post this now, from Andy Garton (Development Director)

For anyone who hasn't seen this from the previous page as it was edited in by DG_Silva afterwards...... More confirmation!!!!!!!!!

I'm delighted to announce that Project CARS has now officially entered RTM (Release To Manufacture, or "Gold") status, with a street sale date of May the 7th in Europe and May the 12th in the US.

Congratulations to everybody for this achievement, and a huge thank you for your help in making it happen. Three years or so ago when this project started SMS were in a very difficult position, and without going in to the ugly details, it's only the funding and support of WMD members that allowed the team to carry on, and Project CARS to get made.

Don't underestimate the magnitude of what we've achieved together either - the game has had a comparatively tiny budget compared to most multi-platform games these days, with a much (much!) smaller dev team than most people seem to think. Clearly the addition of the WMD membership has helped massively in making it happen. The results are there for all to see, the game is already being spoken of very highly, and I'm certain will offer a lot of enjoyment to a lot of people. It's true to say we didn't quite achieve everything we wanted to, but considering the resources we've had, the end result is pretty amazing. And anyway, pCARS is very much a long term project/brand for us, so good that we have plenty to add and improve in future

Clearly the process hasn't always been a smooth one, and in the last few months especially SMS has faced massive hurdles in getting the game over the line, which has meant we've been much less involved at WMD than is ideal. In general too we've made mistakes along the way (natural in something so new, and which we can learn from) which has meant we haven't always made the most of what WMD offers, but there's no question it's been a success overall in terms of its effect on funding, game design and content, and QA.

So ... congratulations, and be very proud when you see our game on the shelves in early May

(And now, back to work - we still have the first patch to finish off, and DLC content to be worked on. Quite how some dev teams manage to take time off en masse when their game goes Gold is a mystery to me!)

Thank-you a million times for posting the gold confirmation. I felt confident but this is now the official news that we have all been waiting for.
What is really exciting too is that we have never been as close to game release as we are now, and every tick of the clock brings us that much closer.
I have become rather obsessed with this game, tbh I can't really think of anything else that has had me so riveted attention wise as PCars. Well this is my hobby and this is the racing game I have been waiting for since I began gaming, the definitive one stop racer. My countdown timer will not need resetting again and my preorder sits there enticing me. Kudos to PSN for their very early putting up of the correct release date, I Always felt quietly confident that there was something to it and they have been proven correct.
