There will be some added by mods, but the game itself is totally focused on circuit racing & race cars.

Unless modded in, there won't be any road cars. It's a game focused on professional motor racing with a curated car list designed to provide several race-car classes, with sufficient competitors in each for a diversified grid.

Project Car's road cars were their least convincing cars, and were rarely seen in online rooms. SMS's small race cars though (Ginetta GT5, Ginetta Jr, Touring Cars (modern and vintage) etc.) were some of the best and led to some very good online racing. I just don't think Ian Bell's heart is into road cars...

Yes controller. It's not as smooth as GT7. HOWEVER, I found the Vintage touring cars to handle better on controller than higher downforce cars like GT4, GT3.
The Group 5 cars also felt good on controller. Just wilder with power delivery.

For me, lots of fun are going through the car classes and looking at all the faux liveries. Then, trying to pick one of the many cool designs, go out on track and then seconds later quit and pick a different livery. :lol:
It’s nearly overload on choices for every car.

Main thing though, it’s NOT Gran Turismo. It’s not graphically polished like Gran Turismo. Project Cars is Project Cars. Knowing you can race on many real world circuits not in Gran Turismo, is a gift. All the options(though the option to pick single cars to assign to the AI, as in GT7, is not available) to tailor the way you want to experience your time spent, is a gift.

Driving the Vintage Touring 1973 Porsche RSR around the Porsche Test Track in May, on my actual birth date, I mean, c’mon. ;)

After all this talk of PC2, I had to turn it on last night. 😄
I had a great time really. The AI can be downright FAST in certain classes though. Not a problem but the AI numbers certainly don't match with AMS2. Turned them down a bit. 🙂
PC2 is still great to this day.
I think one of the biggest issues that some might have is that most of the cars, if not all of them, need to have a setup. They don't just come perfectly ready to go. Tire pressures are probably low to start with. Your driving style determines whether you need to tighten or loosen suspension components. It has a built in engineer though. I don't know how good that is though, I don't use it.

One thing that I've learned from AMS2 is that you should start by turning the engine braking all the way up (9-10) and loosen the diff like crazy. That's a better starting point for me at least. I don't want a stiff car to start with, I want loose and then add back just the amount I need. Preload staring around 50. Clutches at 2.

But overall, after setups, all the cars, even road cars feel really good. AMS2 took the Madness Engine to a whole other level and it's a lot more serious simulation but PC2 still feels familiar and comfy. You can throw the cars around a heck of a lot more in PC2.
My hope is that PMR goes the route AMS2 is right now. The driving and feel is great. Really rewarding. When you spin out you're like, "yep, I deserved that." Looking forward to what they have coming. If it's along the lines of AMS2 or LMU for that matter, it'll be really good.
 
I'm still having fun with PC2, been using the Aussie V8s lately & absolutely throwing them around on various tracks, brilliant machines these no TC/ABS or even a LSD, just raw V8 power under my right thumb.

At this point I'm thinking that it's going to be probably PMR3 before the content and features even get close to PC2, at least on consoles. That's if Ian Bell doesn't turn PMR3 into a mobile game or an arcade racer!

You really have a weird obsession with Mr Bell, especially as you also said you might buy a console just to play this game of his despite criticising his part work. I get he’s made some unfulfilled promises and questionable statements in the past, but mentioning him in pretty much all your posts seems like a bit of a parasocial relationship.

I agree that is a bit much. If I didn't know any better I would think Ian Bell stole something from you or something along those lines ,🤷🏿‍♂️

These vids from the latest build have moved me from a maybe to a probable purchase. Still would like a longer gamepad look and some actual racing.
 
Did anyone hear if vr was just not going to make the release date?

As opposed to generally punting on it permanently.

I’d like to unfollow the thread if its a permanent punt as i don’t really do anything with the ps5 but vr driving.

Might be time to quit consoles for good and build a pc :/

If vr is the most important thing to you than i’d say it’s probably time to move over to pc. PlayStation don’t seem to have any interest in supporting psvr2 outside of gt7
 
Yeah…I’m going through the final phases of bringing a company to market so my next six months are going to be ape crackers. However, when thats done, it will likely be time to bite the bullet and get the coolest vr headset I can find, and a pc to match. Probably spend all my time in Ac Evo and iRacing at that point. This would have to be really good to outshine those two, I’d wager. Its funny..wasn’t sure what I would think of VR, really didn’t expect it to be the thing which drove me away from consoles permanently.

No, Ian Bell stole nothing from me. The buyers of PC3, on the other hand...

PC2 is still the best console racer, and quite honestly given the tiny car count and track list oof PMR, will remain so for possibly all time. If PMR 'adds' more cars and tracks each new iteration without losing any, it will most likely be PMR3 before it gets close to PC2.

Why am I mad (not even slightly!) at Ian Bell? Because I'm still playing a seven year old game because he blew his chance to fix the bugs in PC2 and just add some more content, which is ALL the player base wanted for PC3. Instead, he wasted his time on a vaporware console, the worst mobile racer ever made, and a halfhearted port to turn it into a pretty universally reviled arcade racer by removing more stuff than he added.

The curse of not having a short attention span, I guess!

If you're awaiting this game with bated breath after having gone through the frustration of the Shift 1-2/PC1-2-3 years, kudos! You've either got a lot more trust than me, or you have that disease that destroys your ability to form lasting memories..!
 
Every post you've made in this part of the forum about the game looks to have been done with an added quip like you've got a personal axe to grind with Ian. You clearly don't like the man, so it's probably best to not buy this game & refrain from insinuating that folks have brain damage....


I'm fully aware of Ian's past. I really liked PC2, didn't care for PC3. But, this is clearly a long awaited spiritual successor to GTR2 which I hold near-and-dear, so I'm giving him the benefit on this.
