PS3 3D June update/GT5 same day?

Does anyone here plan on buying a 3d TV just to play gt5 on if it is in 3d? I know i don't really have much interest in 3d myself. It is a nice novelty but i don't plan on rushing out and buying a new TV just because it supports 3d movies or gaming. I guess i am just curious if any one here thinks it is a must have for gt5?

I'm not so sure it is really. While having the best quality TV has always been a must for GT( At the moment, a 52 or 62 Inch LCD TV or HDTV seems to be the must have for GT5P), I don't really feel having a 3d TV is really worth having for GT5, especially for those of us already experiancing GT5P on our HDTVs.

I feel a GT5 release date in June is plausible for the reasons i've been saying for a few weeks now.

The 3DTVS are definitely being launched in June as i've already spoken to my local Sony centre. Now think about it, here we have a company that produces 3DTVS, PS3, who also have the killer 3D title called GT5. Surely wouldn't it make perfect business sense to release these at the same time. The reason being is GT5 will showcase what the PS3, 3DTVS are capable of thus resulting in an increase of sales of the PS3, TVs, GT5.

I honestly believe come E3, MS will wish they never bothered turning up. Just imagine the Sony presentation if they showcase GT5 being played in 3D and they then announce it will be released in a few weeks time!

Nope, not really interested in 3D movies or gaming at all. Sure, a new TV is always nice, but I'd want a new TV for its superior contrast, colour reprodution, and smoothness of motion. Large AMOLED screens still seem to be a long way off retail, so I'll probably end up replacing my 3 year old 46" BRAVIA with a 52" LED LCD of some description before going down the AMOLED route. If it has 3D, so be it, but I will not bust a gut to make use of it.

Would be a nice B-day present, but i kind of doubt it!!!

HA, that's what I thought when there was talk of the March release for my birthday, clearly PD doesn't respect birthdays.

If GT5 is supposed to run at 60 frames a second, wouldn't a 3D version need to run at 120 frames per second?

That's 60 frames per second per eye of course.

If so then I can't see how it's even remotely possible for a full game, with a full game engine and physics engine to run, to be able to do that on the PS3.

I agree 100% and it makes sense because its a perfect marketing strategy for Sony.

3DTV + GT5 = $$$

I have just got a hot tip... I can reveal that GT5 is going to be released at some time between tomorrow and the day the earth spontaneously implodes...

c'mon all - hearing it on a website in a forum is hardly true... stop speculating and just accept that you are powerless already...

PS - it's being released on 01-Apr next year

:)

I didn't know Gran Turismo came under Sonys "Make Believe" division :sly:

make-believe definition

make·-believe (māk′bə lēv′)

noun

1. pretense; feigning
2. a pretender

adjective
pretended; feigned; sham

Why doesn't everyone just wait until PD says that its all finished and will be released on a specific date. All these write up's will only fustrate everyone, and its not about when it will be released it's about how good it will really be. With all the hype being made about GT5 with no real details of what elese will be in the game other than Damage and 3D it's just a Moo point....means nothing until the finished product actually hits the shelves.

Mooooooooooo!!!

I follow the logic behind this but I also feel that in purely-business perspective the Christmas hype around consumption frenzy is, in did, much more appealing.

If we consider the numbers of gt5 games alone, in the beginning probably the Christmas sales would be a little superior but after a few months it would be neglectable. But if he considered what's the biggest potential sales bundle: GT5 + 3D HDTV in June or GT5 + Slim PS3, undoubtedly the last one has a much greater sales potential, specially if you consider the recent poll made by some entity (at Sony's request I'd imagine) that 33% of the people waiting for the game don't even have yet a PS3.

So my bet still is the same - Late November, first half of December release.

This I also agree. I'm almost sure that a lot o f people will be truly disapointed with the game. And that'll not be necessarily the game's fault...

Who would've thunk it :P

<<<<< Read the random numbers and letters guys.. no it's noting to do with GT5

Cough cough

just went and saw the 3D TV at Sony... and I say DAMN !

I know that it was a sales pitch and I know that there is no content (yet), and as with any new technology there are going to be issues, but damn - if it's half as good as the demo that they gave then it's going to be brilliant!

People have been complaining about the perception of speed etc. (or lack thereof) in GT4... they had a version of Wipeout HD that was playable - and I have no fear that the 3D will resolve..

I do have some suggestions tho - be careful if you buy a 3D TV - I did find that some that are currently available do tinker with the colour settings and the glasses have a polariser feel to them which seems to make everything seem just a bit darker...

that being said - if GT do 3D properly, it really could be the makings for a truly EPIC game... I for one am hoping that it's sooner rather than later, but if it's later - well, the 3D TVs are just going to be a bit cheaper!

look there : http://translate.google.de/translat.../sony_3d-update_ps3/&sl=de&tl=en&hl=&ie=UTF-8

this german computer site say gt5 will be the first! game that will have those 3d stuff without any patches ...

i wouldnt trust them even if 1 million sites say this and even when sony gives us a real date and confirm this fact that gt5 will be the first "real" 3d game i wouldnt belevie that until i got my game and playing it

Come on, we can't do that! :sly:

Maybe not, but Kaz said that the release date is up to sony.

So everything we say should be directed at sony as they decide how one of their biggest products is going to hit the shelves. Now everything is in the hands of Sony to release this game sooner rather than later in my opinion. If they wait and all expectations of the game are not met or up to the standard that we hold so high for GT and making us wait with delays, could all be lost or could something be gained?

Some things cannot be answered, but if anyone has an answer then feel free to say something. With the little information that we get about GT5 as to what is holding it up, it seems that there is always something being left out.

The 3D firmware 3.30 just came out.
I thought it was supposed to be released in june...

They will probably release GT5-3D with the 3D tv in june as a bundle but then wait until September to release GT5. In my opinion ofcourse.

Yes and no. PS3 won't output 120Hz. It outputs 30Hz per eye in 3d mode. 3d TVs do some magic and can maybe smooth things out to look more close to 60Hz/eye.

My TV runs at 240Hz but of course my PS3 still outputs only 60Hz. (my TV can make nearly every game super smooth but the costs is more inputlag)

Also most medical experts think that 3d is not good for eyes.

Thanks for that explanation. I have to wear glasses as it is so I don't think I'll bother with 3D after all.

3D TV is aload of garbage, sorry I'm not getting sucked into this babble I really couldnt care less, In my opinion it's a step back in terms of console gaming, 3D Technology has had it's time and failed in that respect.

I wear glasses aswell so I dont think wearing my glasses and another pair of chunky 3D Glasses over them will work aswell. You have to have money flowing out your pockets to be affording this type of kit, I just dont like any of it and wont be soon enough when this type of hype is swept under the carpet.
