If you want to know what all your getting in your $500-$600 PlayStation 3 box, a recent brochure listing all items has found its way to some Japanese retailers and is now all over the net.

Here is the list of things to expect when you open your PS3 box:

* PS3 console
* 1 x controller
* 1 x USB cable
* 1 x Stereo AV cable
* 1 x HDMI cable
* 1 x LAN cable
* 1 x Power cable

Sony has yet to confirm this list, but from the looks of it, it sounds about right. Until further notice from Sony, this is still speculation.

Is there only a silver bar on the better model or is that whole entire disc-insert bay's face silver? I hope it's the former... I can't tell because of the gloss. High gloss is puerto rican enough... the silver extending over the face plate would be overkill.

Silver face plate is only on the 60GB model.

I can't believe none of you have mentioned the pre-orders yet.

GameStop will be taking preorders Tuesday (tomorrow) and it'll probably only last minutes. Better get on it!

Well, I just gave you the official word. Most store's in our region are opening a full HOUR ahead of time to get rid of the "crowds".

Most stores will recieve 8, stores in large city's will get 16. $100 down.

What happened to that "We plan not to take pre-orders for the PS3, because we learned our lesson with the XBox360" crap?

I wont be there. I can see GameStop taking every single $100 that shows up at the door, tomorrow, and with 8 to 16 game consoles per store, you know they're going to short people.

I don't need that. I'll stick with Sony Style.

EDIT: Here are some reference links, which are pretty much useless, now. Heh.

EDIT II: OK, here's the "official announcement" from EB Games.

"Limited PlayStation 3 Pre-Order

GameStop and EB Games will begin accepting limited pre-orders for the PlayStation 3 console on Tuesday, October 10, on a first come, first served basis. Due to extremely limited supply, we expect to deplete this allocation very quickly, most likely in minutes. We will not accept additional pre-orders at this time. To avoid an unnecessary trip we strongly recommend you call your local store to determine availability. A $100 reservation deposit is required, which can be funded with cash, credit or trade. As we cannot control production and shipping issues by the manufacturer, a reservation deposit does not guarantee receipt of a system available to purchase at launch. Reservations/Purchases are limited to 1 per household.

Our limited online pre-order program will be announced at a later date, after software and accessory availability dates are confirmed. Online product pricing and availability will vary and will be fulfilled independent of store reservations."

Reports are in that there are guys camping out in front of GameStops here in SoCal. LOL! Here we go, already! :lol:

Final EDIT: Once again, GameStop proves what a clueless bunch of idiots they are. I called three stores and here's what I got.

One employee said, "No, we're NOT taking pre-orders today or tomorrow (she seemed pissed)!"

A second store manager said, "I guess we are (with a typical clueless tone in his voice.)" "They didn't tell US anything about it, but a lot of people are calling in about it, so I guess we are. There is something on the INTERNET that says we are. I dunno!"

The third store never answered the phone, becuase they either were not there, or got sick and tired of the phone ringing off the hook.

So, there ya' go, folks. The idiocy and horrible planning and execution of the PS3 pre-orders by GameStop and their stupid employees. Ridiculous. :rolleyes:

I changed my mind, I had the whole moring free but I didn't bother to go to GS, I've never preordered any game or console, I just wait until the launch day to pick it up, If it's not available, I'll wait.:sly: I've been doing that since the PS2, there's no reason to change my "policy":) Because I'll have my hand on the PS3 sooner or later:idea:

Edit: The PS3 Preorder experience

Dude.

Wow, well viper has his PS3. 👍

I paid for mine a few months ago. Just put it on a "ghost" reserve (I work at gamestop, hehe). I had about $900 on my ghost reserve, so now I've gotta throw in some games and accessories to make me smile. So far I've paid for my 60GB PS3 and Resistance...I need more!

If I do get one, and it looks like I won't be able to at this point, I'm just going to resell it anyway. I don't play many different games anymore and the ones coming out for PS2 in the coming months (FFXII, Tony Hawk's Project 8, God of War II, etc) are more then enough to keep me satisfied until this time next year. Then I may get one. :sly:

Lmao. Enter and win a ps3. You should also blank out your phone number better. I could be a total loser and decipher it if I wanted.

If you're wondering why or how GameStop could start a "pre-order" for the PS3, when Sony have asked retailers NOT to do so, here's what I found out.

Talking with a manager at Sony Styles, GameStop didn't have a "pre-order" for the PS3. They did a "reserve sale" for the PS3, which GameStop is stating is different from what Sony described as a "pre-order." They sold the PS3, for a fee plus the cost of the unit, to "reserve sale customers," which GameStop claim Sony said nothing against. GS slimed their usual way to sell the PS3 ahead of time. Pretty crafty.

Sony ain't happy. In fact, the manager said, "Sony is pissed!" A lot of people were calling, myself included, why GS can sell the PS3 already and Sony wasn't. He stated, "We're not really 100% how many PS3 units will arrive in NA. We cannot 'reserve sale' an item when we have no idea how many we're getting! GameStop are 'reserve selling' 250,000 PS3 units which is, so far, the MINIMUM amount of guaranteed PS3 units that will come to NA. But, they aren't getting that many units, I can guarantee you that, right now!" Ouch! Looks like GS are going to have a lot of pissed off customers. They are selling, so far, just 80,000 units, but plan to sell more over the internet. No, they aren't finished yet, folks.

So, for those who "reserve purchased" a PS3, good luck. Some of you will get hosed.

What was the "fee" this SS manager was talking about? How much was it?

You know the best way to deal with preorders?

Ignore 'em and wait a year for PS3 bugs to be ironed out. Plus you might get a price discount.

Interesting info regarding GS/EBG "pre-orders", but this part I have a hard time understanding:

If they really did sell 80K "pre-orders" at their stores with each only selling 8 "pre-orders" with the exception of a few stores that got 16 - that would mean there would have to be at least 8,000 stores which I'm pretty sure there aren't.

Last I heard the total number of retail outlets owned by GameStop (GS, EB, etc) was 4,500. So even if half the stores sold 16 "pre-orders" and ALL the remaining half sold 8, that would total just 54,000 orders. However, GS implied that only select stores offered 16 pre-orders, so the total would likely be significantly less. This also implies that ALL the outlets were offered at least 8 pre-orders, which also may not have happened.

Still, that's a lot of pre-orders for one company. Is the $100 fee refundable when you get your PS3 or if they are unable to fullfill the order in a timely fashion? If not, GS may find them selves in some serious legal trouble, as I suspect that would be illegal in most states.

I heard GS were selling out to 80,000 units. Some stores sold more than 16 units and some stores sold only 4 untis. One guy I know on the net got #3 of only 4 PS3 units. There ya' go.

You know what, I am kinda happy that I didn't preorder.:yuck: and..

It won't be long until so you some ripoff bundle on GS/EB website:sly:

That's what I am afraid Sony Style will do. Circuit City did it with the PS2. I had to purchase that 'fireworks' game. I didn't open it, and returned it after Christmas for full price. It's hard to do that with an online service.\

EDIT: Hahahahahahahah!!! I'd like to meat the moron stupid enough to buy this... http://cgi.ebay.com/NIB-Sony-PLAYST...6QQihZ001QQcategoryZ62054QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem

Even though my chance is really little, but walmart is where I am coming. My photography class done at 10pm on november 16, I'll go straight to walmart after the class, hopefully I'll able to get one at midnight. If I can't, well, I'll wait untill next shipment. reading GT planet members reviews on PS3/Ps3 games will satisfy me while waitng, farthermore, I am a very patience person:sly:

Yeah, the Wal*Mart store here in Upland is open 24 hours for the holidays. I wonder how soon I can camp in the store's electronic department. LOL

Kidding. I don't plan to camp anything for the PS3. I'll take my chance with Sony Style, and if I don't get one, BIG DEAL. I don't want any games at launch, so far, anyway and I'm not sure what Blu-ray movies in 1080p will be available that I actually want.

I can wait if I have to.

But you don't have to. You can use fear. By the way of this bad boy:

:sly:

Yes, I know if you actually did that, you'd have every cop on your ass within minutes.

Trust me, I don't need a gun to scare the crap out of people! :lol: (Solid Lifters = 6'5-7" 345lbs. of intimidation!)

BTW, isn't that a Springfield Armory XD pistol? Mine is a Glock 21 or S&W 696.

I guess that's where you get the "Solid" part of your username. :eek:

Holy crap, no need to bust out your gun intelligence. It's just a firearm to me! :lol:

But, why would you want to go to Wal*Mart? Then, you'd have to deal with- duh-duh-duhhh- Wal*Mart employees. *gasp!* Worse than that is, you'd have to deal with- duh-duh-duhhh- other Wal*Mart customers! *horror screams*
