Ordered Mirror's Edge, really looking forward to it.

Very under rated game, its great quality especially for the price it now is, yet i found it pretty difficult at some points, never been able to finnish it really :(

Ok earlier today my ps3 got ylod :(
It's a 60 gb launch day ps3, which i got preowned. I have warranty on it but the disk wont come out. I've read for 60gb the hold down eject button while turning on back power supply doesn't work for the 60gb model. I's there anyway i can turn it on to get it out without damaging it? I've read i could lose the disk inside which is mw2, it would be unfotuanate to buy it again as it's the only game my mates go on so i can't really talk to them for a while as cross game chat isn't out yet. So if i send the ps3 back with warranty do i keep the disk? Or is there anyway to get it out? cheers

It's bound to be delivered next week, too bad I won't be home. It's a shame, it was the most impressive demo of all the PS3 games I've sampled. Really, really looking forward to it.

I just played the demo of Earthworm Jim HD...
That takes me back a long time! I can still recall most of the levels and details from the pc version. I am seriously considering purchasing it!

So, I have to do System Recovery because my main menu won't show up. I got to the bit where you have to connect the controller using the USB cable, but my controller won't connect. All the lights flash, but it wont connect. I'm so close to getting it fixed, but it's not working. I don't know what to do.

EDIT: Just used the reset button on the bottom of the controller. No clue it was there.

Mirror's Edge arrived, I installed it, 9-10 hours later, Mirror's Edge was beaten. Its story is somewhat short as you can see, but the various speedruns required will be fun.

One week sale on PSN. Good set of different titles from PSN games, to PSP games and minis. I downloaded Pixeljunk Shooter last night for $5. 👍

http://www.dtheatre.com/read.php?sid=5703 I just did a quick google search for you and this seems to be the most popular solution, if this helps :)

I'm having a PSN sign-in issue each time I swap discs while on the user selection screen. While booting up I often change discs but as soon as I select which user I wish to use I always get sign-in errors, this cannot be rectified by rebooting. I have to wait a good period of time before I can sign into the PSN. It's worth noting too that I never get the same error code even though the trigger sequence is always the same.

However if I switch the disk after selecting the user I sign in just fine. Why and what is causing this problem?

You: "Doctor, it hurts when I touch my arm."
Doctor: "Quit touching your arm."

There obviously is a problem going on, but do you see my point? ;)

I do but I really don't see how on earth this could of developed. It's been going on for a few months and has evaded all the updates in that time. I don't understand how my PS3 keeps developing all these intermittent problems when I don't change the way I use it.

I usually change discs while waiting to sign in however I have been known to do it on the user screen, I definitely doesn't fail to sign in for me though.

Whenever i've had login issues it's usually been down to my ISP or been a router issue.

It's definitely not that for me. The computers around the house still work fine and I can browse the internet on the PS3 even when I can't sign in. I can't pin it down with Sony as it gives me a different error code every single time it happens, yet the symptoms and trigger are always the same. Oh well I'll just have to remember not to switch discs before I select the user.

That solution would help but the problem is, i have no external drive or USB memory stick to transfer to.
Are they that expensive in Australia? Surely you have at least a friend that might have one you can borrow?

My suggestion: Find one you can borrow or save up and buy one that will be large enough to backup your entire HDD. Do this fix and then regularly (once a month or just before every firmware update) do a HDD backup. I got a large enough external HDD to both backup my system drive and store a bunch of movies on.

But no matter what kind of fix you find this appears to be an issue with bad blocks on the HDD and so a format will likely be necessary. Whether you lose game save data and whatnot will be determined by your ability/willingness to get an external storage device to do a back up.

They are getting cheaper but ones of bigger size which are needed for the backups are still quite expensive I believe. I haven't checked the price on them for a while actually.

External hard drives too? I mean, I got a 500GB one bundled with a laptop.

I knew there were some price differences between the countries, but my company gives 2GB thumb drives to employees in random drawings around the holidays or for helping out more than required when we need it.

Everytime I play NBA Live 2010 it freezes up on me halfway through a game, then when I try to get back into it it just freezes on the loading screen. Anyone else having similar issues with EA Sports lately? Or is my PS3 probably knackered? I can still get to the menu screen on Prologue fine, haven't tried doing a race yet though. Oh, and NBA Live 2010 plays fine in my brother's PS3, but he doesn't have his connected to PSN.

Edit: Never mind I went to the NBA Live forums and it's an issue many people have. Just another case of EA being scum-bags, apparently this was an issue with previous games too. Have you also noticed how many $$$ worth of DLC EA release straight after Tigers Woods 2011 came out in golf courses? Huge rip-off, those should have been in the game from the start, and now they expect people to pay twice as much for a game they only JUST bought.

I did not know that. Another thing I noticed about the Slim: you'd think that because it's smaller and the shell is different that it'd actually be lighter than the fatboy. I mean, the PS2 Slim is lighter than the PS2 Fatboy 'cause they took out a bunch of stuff...but...the PS3 slim weighs about the same as the fatboy. Which is really surprising. So...to make it smaller, they just got rid of all the empty space. which doesn't change it's mass and weight.

EDIT: According to the info on Amazon.com, the Fatboy PS3 is 11 pounds and the Slim is 10.2 pounds. So...Sony got rid of .8 pounds....yeah, not that much. Probably only barely noticeably when holding them, as well.

They also didn't really get rid of that much space. It is smaller, yes, but in practical terms it isn't that much smaller. Especially if you use it vertically.

Quick "Help My PS3 is Dying" question: Has anyone else playing PSX games on their PS3 noticed slower loading times than when those games are played on the PS2 or PSX? This is probably best noticeable with GT2, if you have it. I was freaking out because the load times were pretty bad in my Triple, but I tried it in a friend's much newer PS3 (CECHLxx) and noticed the same thing. I have yet to try it in a Slim, but I suppose I will be able to do that at the end of August.

You can buy 4GB here for under 10$
