I got a fat and I have it horizontal since I can't fit it anywhere else. It's better to have the PS3 a foot above the carpet anyways.

I've got a fat PS3 and I've got it stood up on one side of my desk, with my TV next to it and my PS2 on the other side :)

My original 40 GB is sitting vertical and is still in mint condition. It for sure runs a bit cooler, but I'm not sure if the slim pushes air out the top, so it wouldn't benefit in any way by standing vertical. When I don't use it I have a piece of black piece of cardboard to lay on top, to prevent dust from settling inside the machine.

Slim Horizontal.

Used to have a 60gb launch fatty, stayed horizontal almost it's entire life. I stood it vertical for 2 weeks, then it YLOD'd. Found out if it overheats at all while it's vertical it can melt the solder enough inside to break connection and it's game over.

Needless to say, my slim will NEVER go vertical.

I have my old fat 80Gb sitting vertically, simply becasue there is not alot of air flow in my TV accessory cabinet to put it in and maintain good ventialtion.

I pull it apart every 6 or so months to clean out the dust, which surprisingly doesn't amoutn to as much as I would have thought.

I have a fat PS3.
It depends which room it is in. Currently it's in the bedroom and horizontal (my brother put it there), when I use it I place it vertically near my g27 setup.
In the lounge it is mostly vertical to save space (it has to sit on the floor as no shelves are available).

Depends on the space at hand I suppose. I used to have it horizontal inside a small cabinet/ shelf thing until that shelf came off a few times with the ps3 on it. I then got a new desk and just have the ps3 on the inside of the desk, vertically, along the desk leg.

Its a second gen fatty 80gig, I hardly ever clean it, I do nothing to cool it and it is straight on the carpet. Dont think I am some rich kid who doesnt give a damn, I payed the full price for it (700AUD a few years back) but to be honest, a console should just work. It should work with minimal care.

I dont throw it, kick it, whack it, mistreat it or scratch the disks, I just dont freak out about it not working the next time I need it. I used to use it ALOT, I have hundreds of days gameplay racked up on it but lately, with school and work in the mix I just dont have time for it. I hadn't played it for a month before PSN went down either so thats no worry. The day it dies I mightn't even buy another one, we will see :).

My 80GB fatty in the living room is horizontal, only way it fits in the cabinet. My 40GB fatty in my daughters room is vertical, only way to place it on top of the cabinet.

I have mine (fat) horizontal at the moment due to room layout, but previously it was vertical and it seemed to run cooler that way.

My 60Gb launch fatty has been vertical since I got it.

The 80Gb fat, which we've had for nearly 3 years, is horizontal and occasionally makes helicopter noises.

That last sentence there is my first run in for this years quote of the year !

60GB fatty was always vertical, then moved to a new place and placed horizontal for a few months 'til death - RIP

Now - 320GB slim is horizontal :)

Lmao, that sounds healthy :P

Mines a 60Gb fat. It's been stood up vertical all its life. Unless I take it downstairs to run it in the big screen :sly:

My launch 60GB was vertical until it got the YLOD.:( My refurb has also been vertical since I got it.:)

80 GB fat. I used to keep mine horizontal. Since I got a new TV for my room, I moved my PS3 and set it vertical. I cover the top of it with a cloth to stop dust getting in when it is not in use.
