80GB Fatty, been vertical since I got it about 2 years ago. I bought it used and it was pretty dusty when I got it, didn't get the impression that it was cherished. Traded in the Wii to get it so hardly payed anything for it.

I have yet to have any problems with it, although only played games on since November (GT5) really. Before then it was a cheap BlueRay player and BBC Iplayer device :).

60GB 640GB CECHA has been vertical since I bought it. Currently sits between my LF speaker and my TV, with a good foot behind it and nothing above it.

Slim Horizontal.

Used to have a 60gb launch fatty, stayed horizontal almost it's entire life. I stood it vertical for 2 weeks, then it YLOD'd. Found out if it overheats at all while it's vertical it can melt the solder enough inside to break connection and it's game over.

Needless to say, my slim will NEVER go vertical.
I think you'll find that there are solder joints all over the system that are just as susceptible to breaking when the system overheats as the ones near the Blu Ray drive are.

20gb launch fatty, upgraded to 500gb about 3 months ago. Vertical all its life on hardwood floors until very recently when I moved and now its horizontal on a table so its close to my g27 setup.

Fatty, and horizontal. A week before my warranty was up for my first PS3, my dogs ran in the house. That time we had it vertically, and my dogs ran into it, and knocked it down.

Irrelevant HDD sized Launch PS3, horizontal with lots of air space around it to keep it cool. I had it vertical for a bit, but it's already high enough off the ground and this is California. I don't want my PS3 to be the casualty of some dumb 4.2 earthquake.

Horizontal since March '07, only moved for vacuuming dust and hdd upgrades (2- 60 to160 and 160 to 500). I will not change this ever.
