Sounds like he gets his Internet from talk talk...

Actually it's from Sky/BT. I live 2 miles away from the exchange point in my town so by the time the already rubbish Internet comes along a couple miles of old cables it's slowed down a whole bunch. That's why I'm never normally buying stuff from the store.

First reviews coming out.

OPM UK magazine 10/10
"A work of art in which amazing sights and sounds fuel an emotionally draining, constantly compelling end of days adventure. This is Naughty Dog pushing the PS3 to its limit. Over to you PS4"

Empire online 5/5
"The Last of Us is not just the finest game that Naughty Dog has yet crafted and an easy contender for the best game of this console generation, it may also prove to be gamingÂ’s Citizen Kane moment," "a masterpiece that will be looked back upon favourably for decades."

Edge, which is a pretty tough critic gave it a 10/10 so that says alot. They have only given ten perfect scores in 20 years.

Reviews, What reviews? Who reads reviews before launching Game of the Year?

On line in this game could repulse me like the one from Tomb Raider. It is waste of my time. But the main story and this epic adventure is different :sly:

10 days now.

This is Uncharted clone!!! Advanced but still strong clone. :guilty: Looks like ND wants to stretch life for this game like it was done for Uncharted 3 with extra DLC with maps, weapons, game modes.

How is this anything like Uncharted, well, other than looks that is? The story is very different, the genre too.

I'm not surprised at ND for doing the rest though, certainly after U2 and U3.

He's talking about multiplayer specifically I think. The single player game is Game Of The Year already apparently.

EDGE giving a 10/10...
Man, that's hard to find in the magazine so 👍

The demo is awesome.
I am the only one who was amazed with the sound? Completely amazing!

I have to laugh because I used to work for them for a while. All I can say is, avoid at all costs.

I'll be buying this game on disc, I prefer buying hard copies of games as you can re-sell them when you're all good and done. Shameless plug of my connection if I did download it off the store, feel for you guys on sub 1mbps lines, I just couldn't go back to that.

I am so hyped for this game, I much prefer the survival feeling than being a bullet sponge like many other games, and Naughty Dog know how to deliver an experience. The Edge magazine score seems to back that up for me, they're harder to please than most reviewers.

Tell me about it. Despite being a stone's throw from the exchange, their internet was slow as treacle and would disconnect every time there was a gust of wind, which is frequent in Scotland. It might have been something to do with the fact that they sent an engineer out to install my internet seven times. Each and every time, they sent him to an address in Ireland... They charged me for it though.

Then, to top it all off, they cancelled my subscription with no warning and charged me a contract termination charge. They just did me a favour in the end as I ended up moving to Japan. I'd like to get that money back, but given the way that I couldn't get a single customer service rep to understand the fact that Glasgow isn't in Ireland, I don't feel like trying to communicate with them from Japan.

Back on topic, I was looking forward to this, but seeing as how some idiot ruined the ending for me, I'll wait for it to come down in price.

You shouldn't have paid. They can't charge you for that stuff, if it really was how you just wrote.

Unless your country has a stupidly consumer hostile law system I'm not aware of.

I could probably get my money back if I fought it hard enough, but I left the country in such a hurry. I had copies of emails, the phone number of the irish engineer who was sent to the wrong address etc. The problem was that their customer service was atrocious. They sent someone to an address in the wrong country but their customer service would either not understand that it was the wrong country or look at some computer screen that stated that someone was sent to my address and tell me that the issue was closed.

In a way, I feel lucky to have gotten out of the contract early. I would like to get the rest of the money back, but I really can't be bothered trying to get in touch with them from here. I'll just chalk it down to experience while doing my best to make sure that none of my friends sign up with them.

From Naughtydog:

Over the past few days we invited media to play our The Last of Us multiplayer mode called Factions. Most of these impressions are available online now but you’ll be seeing more as our review embargo on the game ends very soon. The multiplayer is extension of the themes you’ll find in the single player game. The moment-to-moment survival present in the single player campaign is integral to the multiplayer. You’ll feel tension and need to be intensely alert at all times.

In Factions you’ll have to pick a side and roll with the Hunters or the Fireflies. Each player starts with a small clan of survivors that you need to keep alive and grow. There are two modes in which you can accomplish the growth and survival of your Clan. In Supply Raid, you’ll have to scavenge the area and keep your team alive. Your team has a pool of twenty reinforcements. Once the reinforcements have been exhausted, the match will go to sudden death. In Survivors, you’re going to have to be extremely vigilant. There are no respawns. Once you’re gone you’ve been eliminated until the next round. It’s a best of seven rounds in which the first team to win four rounds wins the match.

The core gameplay is very tactical, featuring the same crafting system found in Single Player. Stealthy players can do well by using Listen Mode to locate enemies and flank them with silenced weapons. Teamwork is essential - fallen teammates can crawl to their allies and be revived, so players who stick together will excel. Melee combat is a brutal affair, and after downing a player you have the choice of performing an execution move. There are many more layers to explore, from the robust loadout system to the in-game economy. We can't wait to see you online!

More news about the full game coming very soon! 👍

Thoughts on this guys?

Yes but it seemed everyone was posting straight through it about something else, I thought it was an interesting tidbit but since it was a small post compared to the walls of text surrounding it....

Looks like ND really nailed this. I'm excited to play, its a cool genre and an excellent developer. Sounds like a high candidate for GOTY. GTA 5 could be the game keeping it from that though.
