Does any one know if my progress will transfer to a PS4
Or will I have to start over again

If you are saying from GT6 to GT7, almost certainly not. That's going on past PD precedent - eg. GT5 & GT6 are the most similar of the core games so far, and there was no transfer of progress at all. At some point GT will become a persistent game, maybe with PS4 era, and maybe with 7, but I'm still sceptical it's going to be that soon.

PS4 doesn't read PS3 games, and GT6 has not been released for PS4 nor any announcements for a future release, so that would be a no regardless.

The likelyhood is low given no past iterations even on the same console allowed it, however GT fans were gifted a garage transfer once.. from GT PSP to GT5 (unfortunately only for use within Arcade Mode).

I think the major barrier to this sort of thing isn't PD being greedy or stubborn (or lazy) but is licensing. For example, because PD was intent on including Senna's Lotus 97t in GT6 they likely had to remove the 2007 and 2010 Ferrari F1 cars which were present in GT5 (apparently F1 cars from different manufacturers cannot officially appear together in the same game unless that game has an exclusive F1 licence).

Personally, however much I love the 97T I'd have preferred more Ferrari F1 cars on top of the '07, '10 cars being kept in.

Clearly however you can't have persistent careers across iterations of the game when the content itself doesn't reliably cross over. Hopefully this new FIA licence thing might free up race car licensing for PD, but who knows.

Then how does Forza manage to do it?
