PS3 Update 4.20

I updated my ps3 today, and now my gran turismo failed to load saved games.

Thank god i made some backup's or i lost all my car's, Anyone else had this problem or is my ps3 screwed?

Updated a few minutes ago (EU version too) and had no problems with my GT5. The only weird thing that i found was that the game saved files 2 times while starting the whole thing. Then saved again while i entered to "My Home" and showed me the 200% thing.(but that´s normal)

i saved my backup on usb stick, maybe its my ps3, its over 2 year's old now, and i feel its time to ge a new one soon..

Mines playing the slow to load issue. I expect GT will have a patch in the next few days.

I paid for some DLC aswell and installed it and ended up with two red bull x2011s so I'm not in a position to complain.

How does that second backup work, Whenever ive tried to save from it it directs me to online save only and I dont have that facility so use the older version to usb. Can some explain for me what/how does the second/new save work and also what is in the latest update.

Launch date PS3 still goin strong here. So your two year old shouldn't be breaking down yet. Unless it has overheated or been exposed to high heat/humidity.

Maybe this has something to do with what happened to your save

"We have also improved saved data management.
You will now be able to select multiple saved data items and delete them or copy them as a group."

Yeah, thats it i think. Maybe my ps3 got another 2 years to live. Thanks....

Be careful using the back up save. If you check the "save point" for the back up is when you load the game. So if you do a 24 hr race be sure after you exit the game to reload it so the 24 hr race will be saved. Look at the times of each save and you'll see what I mean. I alwasy use a flash drive. Did use a SD card but my "Fatboy" got very ill and had to get a slim.

It doesnt let me do anything, that is the newer second backup system introduced a few weeks back. I have to do my game saves the old way.

When did this crap start happening?!?!?! I never noticed it. I always make sure to "save" before quitting though.

This probably explains why my game save from my fat PS3 with every Premium car and 9 Hours of Boredom completed did NOT get copied to my daughter's Slim PS3 :'(

When you come out of the game to the XMB menu, 3 clicks up from GT5 is the PS3 save data section, there you will be able to do your save with a usb drive. This is the only secure way to save your data not the ingame save as if that corrupts you had it, Unless of course you have done a usb save in the XMB menu.

I've been doing game save backups since the day I got my PS3 in 2007. I wasn't asking about how to do a game save.

Well to be honest my killzone 3's grenade noises seem to be lowered down since the ps3 got "patched" So mabby it did screw up his Save.

Not sure but PD's backward thinking might be to back up the game each time you load it in case something goes wrong while playing, after all you must know how unstable PS3 games are while playing. How many times so you have to exit game because of "black screen" . I think a better item to have would be {Reload Game> are you sure > yes} at least the are you sure could be useful then.
