That's another area where Kunos really blew it...especially once the console versions came out. Updating tire models & vehicle inertias along with other aspects of the sim are going to change vehicle performance and therefore require newly calculated times for the Career Mode & Special Events.

Something very weird happened yesterday!

I completed those 2 events below on HARD difficulty!
When I finished them, I got the notification "Achieved tier 2" (which is correct) but displayed the Bronze icon (and showed Medium difficulty in race end)!!!
I re-did both on HARD just to make sure and it still displayed Bronze icon instead of Silver!

What the hell is going on?!?

Seems that with latest update and all the modifications to times they did, it got screwed up somehow!

Is it worth deleting all updates and completing all special events on the original disc version? Were they easier on the original ps4 version? Finding the special events very difficult on the current update.

Hey Folks, I followed this thread last days and found a lot useful staff to implement - thx to all for the big inputs - already pretty dust coated.
Anyhow I Started to do the Special events to find how far am I from community drivers, damn I am slow!
Unfortunatelly I get CE-34878-0 everytime I exit from Special Event's track/race. Meaning no progress (records) nor even setups saved in the game.
Does anyone have some experience with it or/and a tip to solve.
I have:
- PS4 Slim
- AC standard CD version (No DLC implemented)
- AC Ultimate (all DLC included) PSN Shopped
error pops out on both versions.

Maybe you could reset the licenses in your PS4. I haven't come across an issue as of yet.

I have a big question. I had AC for a while on PS4 and really like it a lot.

Just it seems its a very inferior build compared to the PC version.

Is seriously doubt I will ever be able to complete all the special events.

Granted I am far from the Best driver here. Just some of them seems absurdely dificult.

Can anyone on this forum beat the Ford Escort - Down the Hatch challenge with a Gold medal ?

Is it even posibel to do it on the Console version ?

Hi there, it is possible !

All spécial évents (hotlaps) are do-able. I went through many a while back. That being said, I haven't golded the Moby Dick at Monza and the classic Porsche at classic Silverstone . I lose my nerve with those

I ran it on PC but I think physics are similar enough on console for this to apply. I remember at first thinking it was going to turn into a massive slog like most of the Porsches, with the Escort not behaving itself at all for the first few laps. But somehow I tuned into it and it taught me what it liked and didn't! I ran Fuel 5L, Tyres LF 31, RF 33, LR 30, RR 32 and that's it, I think. Just got gold by little over a tenth after about 15 laps. It did require a fairly precise lap :)

@doblocruiser

Well I can see that you are miles better than me.

I give you my respect :-)

I think I can only dream to make a lap like yours. I tryed I dont know how many times, with all kinds of setup and still my best after maybe 100 laps is something like 1,475.

I really like this combination. Its so much fun, just a litle heart breaking that I cant do better still after all this time.

But thanks a lot for taking your time to show it can be done. I gues I just have to keep practising or maybe just let it go.

BTW how would you rank this event compared to all other event, and career races in the game ?

Do you have the platinium trophy for the game ?

Is this event like one of the more harder ones, or just average ?

Thanks for the kind words Klondike

I think of myself as an average driver and when I started out I had some help on how to improve my laptimes from the guys that played AC a lot. Ran a few with @Outspacer 👍 and @lancia delta hf showed me some nice videos done by Kunos (see below). It all comes down to using the width of the track and not overdriving the car. Apply what you see in the videos below and see your laptimes improve instantly :)

As said, the run with the Escort I only changed fuel, for the rest all stock. Go an search the limit of the car and keep an eye on the revs. I rank this one average. There are a couple that are a lot harder (Z4 at Imola as an example). With the races it is a hit and miss. For obtaining GOLD you'll need to run the races on Alien difficulty. With the old DTM cars that is pretty easy but in the GT3 cars it is sheer impossible for me. The AI is unbalanced depending on class and I'd say go for the custom championships and fiddle around with the AI. As for the special events I mostly run the hotlaps.

I enjoy the DTM machines the most since the Alfa and Mercedes sound and drive great. You can throw them around.

BTW: if you have the Ultimate Edition, do some special events which are called ULTIMATE EVENT xxx, those are by far easier than the original ones.

If you have any more questions or need help, just ask 👍

Funny coz I recently switched from PS4 to PC, and I prefer AC on PS4 to the one on PC.

The only advantage of AC on PC (and every game for that matter) is modding. I have thousands of cars and hundreds of tracks.

HOWEVER, to this moment I couldn't manage to create a single online lobby. You have to maybe have an engineering masters degree to be able to create an online multiplayer lobby, while it's couple of presses of some buttons on AC-PS4 or in PC2 (both PS4 and PC).

That's frustrating.

Besides what's "Very inferior" in your opinion! Physics same, FFB same, yes less customization and options (that's normal for any game to have more options on Pc than on PS4).

That should not be the case at all. I've run many many online servers from my system and it's a piece of cake. When you first set it up you have to forward the ports on your router and then plug those ports into the server app, and then that should be it. Once you get that part done it's really no different or harder than any console game. Pick your cars, pick your track, pick your conditions and rules, and then hit the Start button. You can even do it through Content Manager, if I were to walk up to my PC right now I could have a server up and running less than 30 seconds after launching Content Manager. Finding the time/weather options for CSP/SOL is slightly confusing the first time but once you know where it is it's simples.

This is old but I think the info should still be accurate. It walks you through the port forwarding and how to setup the server app (I believe the server app has had an appearance change since this was posted but the basic functionality is all the same and should be easy to figure out).

Well for you but not for me. And I honestly could do it maybe if I put enough effort but part of me resist it.

Creating an online lobby should be couple of button presses within the game itself nowadays. I should not have to go fiddle with my router and do all that **** in order to be able to create a lobby. Why can we do that in all other games except this one? Why they don't put out a small update that does that all from within the game? Lots of unanswered questions...

In other terms, I should not have to resort to multiple guides, youtube videos etc... to create a damn online lobby!

Sorry, that's not typically how it works in PC Land. Took me a while to get used to it too. Most PC games do not run online lobbies directly from the game, I think the only ones I've encountered that do are console ports like PCars and Codemasters games. I'm currently playing American/Euro Truck Sims and you can only do multiplayer in those with a mod! :boggled:

If you use Content Manager for AC (which you should) then you can do it from right inside Content Manager like you want to with just a couple button presses, and it's really easy to do. Having to forward the ports on your router is pretty standard, I had to do it for Gran Turismo on PS3. Well, I didn't have to, but it made things run a lot better/stable. But this isn't just an AC thing, all routers need their ports forwarded in order to allow other computers to connect to it so you wouldn't be able to race other people if you didn't forward your ports. But you only have to do it once and then you're good for all games. On consoles you weren't running off your machine, you were running off the devs servers so you didn't need to worry about forwarding your ports. It's apples and oranges, totally different way of operating. Don't expect any games to have voice chat in them either (use Discord or Teamspeak), and even text chat is not guaranteed. And you'll need to hunt down online guides for things in most games but YouTube should have it covered.

As a console player for many many years, I've never quite gotten over the fact that these far more powerful PCs often seem less capable than consoles, but they're two totally different playgrounds that don't operate the same way, so it is what it is. Even with that all said, I'd never go back to consoles because overall PCs give a much more enjoyable, flexible, and diverse experience. But I'll admit that for the first 6-12 months I wasn't entirely happy and felt like I'd made a big mistake. I no longer feel that way.

@doblocruiser

Just wanted to say that I finally beat the Down the hatch event :-)

I kinda dident play Assetto corsa for like 4-5 month, but yesterday i thought I would give it another go. Since I love the track and car combo.

I found a tune from Kie at youtube, wich I modified a bit, and then I did it in like 4 laps after I previously had run at least 100 laps or more without being close to beat it :-)

My god I just love the physics in this game. for me its just so much better than anything else aviable on console.

Just so sad it seems its a bit messy with bugs and not updated with patches to fix things. I really hope Compentzione will be a better console version than this one was.

BTW can anyone tell me wich special events are needed to platinium the game ?

Used the setup of TheKie as well on the 911 cup racer at Zandvoort. Managed to beat the sucker :D

Did the 911RSR as well on Silverstone. Couple of tenths are in front of me. So far without setup changes besides tires and fuel. May need some tuning :embarrassed:

Édit: and golded as well :D

The special events have truly some huge difficulty spikes hidden in there. I was wondering if anyone of you guys have golded the SC003 and BMW M3 GT2 at the Nordschleife and Nordschleife 24H? I am pretty much 15 seconds of pace but I can drive the track almost blind. You guys fiddled around with the setup for those?

I tried the Lambo race at Monza (10 laps) as well on Alien difficulty. I manage to get third steadily but numbers 1 and 2 are too far in front which means I run out of laps to catch them. For the races is HARD the way to go to at least get a medal for trying?

It may be late but I just did the event and it unlocked correctly :D

However, the IA with the Z4 GT3 at Nurburgring GT behave utterly impolite :indiff:

I don't see these in my game, what am I missing here?. Care to share what times you have to beat and what the exact track conditions are, I'd like to give this a go.

I recently got back to this game after taking a 3 year break and I've been doing these (hotlap) special events again. I lost all my progress for some reason, but the original hotlap events have gotten so much easier that it didn't take long to catch up and complete all of them . Some of the DLC stuff offers more of a challenge, haven't been able to gold 488 GT3@Mugello and Moby Dick@Monza yet, for example.

Assuming you have a wheel with a clutch pedal, slip the clutch to get the car off the line quicker if you aren't doing so already. That should give you a better start vs AI. Being aggressive in the first chicane helps too, AI seems to be pretty slow there. I think I was in 4th-6th after the first chicane and 1st by lap 5.

Thanks for your answer! I'll check the events later but you'll need the Ultimate Édition to be able to see them.

Concerning the wheel, I have a lovely T150 with 2 plastic padels, so no clutch. I also try to not forcing myself and race as clean as possible. The problem with the very fast AI rises mainly with GT3 cars. The old DTM are Just easy .. I know AC is pretty unbalanced for certain events. As you I have that MobyDick and F488 at Mugello still ungolded....Very hard ones.

That's sort of unfair, I've had the game since release day and I get nothing :P

I tried the Huracan@Monza again yesterday to see what it was like, only this time I didn't use clutch at all. With being aggressive, I didn't mean you should force your way through but you should go for those gaps the AI leaves for you. In this race turn 1 braking zone is the best place for overtaking as AI starts braking very early.

Video below shows one way to do it:

On lap 2 and 3 I used wrong distance marker for my braking point, you should brake later lol. I did some gearings changes (4th gear=216km/H, 5th=245km/h, 6th=285km/h), used soft tires, added some fuel and lowered ABS to 1.

After that one I also tried Moby Dick@Monza and golded it much quicker than I expected. Two things annoy me though, I didn't want to cut the second chicane entry that much and I would have liked to beat the gold time by more than 0.026s. Makes me want to go back and try again, but on the other hand I don't exactly like the car... it feels so sluggish and boring to drive.

Setup changes: Gurney flap , turbo 100%, ABS 1
