Right now, its:

Cox Communications
Motorola Surfboard Modem
Wired
Belkin F5D8233 Router
Static IP, DMZ

Did everyone really one-stop? I never went past 15 laps in one long run, but the car was still doing high 56s, so I suppose I could've kept going.
I've got Cox, Netgear modem/router hard wired to the PS3.

And pretty sure a lot of people 1-stopped. Because I 2-stopped and pretty much did nothing but lose ground. And as mentioned, the Z was junk after 10-15 laps anyway so that didn't help. Either I was doing something seriously wrong or the Z was just outclassed here in every way possible.

I did a 3 stopper

I did 3 due to damage first lap but I went for 2 stop as did all of D2, I think it was the faster strategy tbh. I barely dropped into the 59s was doing 57s most of the race with 58s in the last few laps.

I also three stopped. Didn't have a choice after such a bad qual (needed to get free track), but I don't think it hurt me at all.

I also had a mechanical damage. On lap 58 my breaks didn't want to fully release but was on at 10% all the time. I was 19 sec behind Welsh at the time so I lost about 15 seconds. Lost second place, but fortunately just as Dom and Dennis were about to catch me, the breaks released and could continue and finish third.

Annoying though. It might be potentiomenter on my G27 giving up. Heard that could happen. Will do a clean job and see if it helps.

I don't know if anyone did. I did 2 and probably should have done 3. Like you the last 4 laps of my stints were horribly greasy 1:58's. I spent so much work tuning the car to get rid of the exit corner on-throttle understeer so I could qualify and get my pace below 1:56.5 that after lap 15 I needed an egg under the throttle as the back end was trying to kill me every slow corner.

I don't think anyone 1 stopped. I did 2, which seemed right to me.

It was a shame to see Rich DC so soon, then Josh at around lap 30. I took my first stop at lap 19 with about a 5s lead over Josh, but decided to short fuel it at this one with just 30 litres to ensure I maintained track position in the hopes of building a better advantage over Josh. I believe he filled up at his 1st stop, which would have made it interesting to see where we were after our 2nd stops, but we'll never know now :(.

Quite uneventful from there on in, except trying to get by a Stubborn HSV on older tyres. Managed the gap and brought it home safely :D

Good day at the office for Team XANAVI GTR too. Well done Dan!! 👍

Mixed feelings about this. Did 2 stops, should probably have done 3. Had a good start, got up to 3rd for a while, but in the end I was just too slow, used a loosened setup that cost a little speed and in return did nothing to improve tyre wear :S. And maybe I lost out with a 2-stopper, not sure yet how I got overtaken by so many.

Today the draft was awful, I just could not get close to anyone without getting troubled in the next braking zone, or Schumacher S. It really stole my focus. Maybe I should not race with a hangover.

But from 6th on grid to 6th at the line I can not complain. Good racing all in all. Too bad outlaw and Josh dc'ed.

I have swapped with the potentiometer from the never-used clutch.

3 stop was my plan from the beginning. After I was used as a turning/stopping aid by Jess-N-Dre at turn 1. That solidified it. Turned out pretty well for me I guess, besides driving my first stint with front right damage.

I guess I just lost so much time ice skating that I should have done a 3-stopper.

At no point during the race was I having even an ounce of fun.

I'm going to think this over during the week. Chances are I won't be back. Have fun guys.

Was going to say that whenever the brake pedal stuck on my G27 (not for a long time now, thankfully), I would stamp on the pedal and it would release for a while. Still a pain, but didn't cost too much time.

Obviously Simon's suggestion is perfect, unless you use the clutch ;)

Not racing at spa with the Z would be a misstake :) just like monza i think it will be one of the fastest car.

I tend to be stubborn Nigel.. 👍 ;)

Well done to you, Tim and Johan, who almost got caught by me and Dom on the last lap, but managed to keep us off.

I don't think it matters. I'm just not having any fun.

Thanks for the suggestion, but I actually already used the clutch pot for the throttle which was giving me the same problem earlier.

I googled a bit, and one suggestion is to spray it with some kind of "electrical connection spray". See if it helps. If not I got to try to buy a new pot.

:p :D

I'll admit though, I was cursing at the time ;)

Guess I did the right thing then.. Haha!

Thought I'd give you a bit of a fight before you pulled away for good..

Pretty 'meh' race for me. I can't be disappointed with myself as I drove a clean race, but in the end I was simply not fast enough in order to keep up with the mid-pack. The car felt good for roughly the first 10 laps of each stint, but after that I would start to lose a lot of time.

Sorry to CSL, Josh, and Paginas for holding you guys up during the second stint. I knew you guys were faster, but I didn't want to just hand the positions to you, because at that point I though I may have still had a shot of making up some positions in the final stint. I believe I was being fair though, as I gave you all plenty of room when you did go to overtake, and didn't try to force any unnecessary two-wide racing that would have just slowed us down even further.

Anyways, still a good race overall. It looked like there was plenty of battling up the road from me during the final stint. I wish I could have been up there as well, but alas I was too slow today :dunce: Hopefully I'll be able to be more competitive at Spa next week 👍

Regarding Spa - do i have "guaranteed" place in the race or it depends on how many drivers (that registered before i) will participate... to practice or not to practice, that is the Q.? :)

You have a guaranteed spot if you make one of the 32 fastest qualifying laps.👍

Wooo team XANAVI takes 2nd place in the standings.

Was happy with my race, I'm glad I copied Wii doing a 3 stopper but I was worried throughout the race about fuel. In the end I think I put 5-10 litres too much which cost a tiny amount of time but I think I could of got 6th.

Had a few good battles through the race but I was having so much fun pounding in laps by myself.

Not sure I like sitting behind someone in the annoying dirty air lol it seems to be so bad at this track.

Thanks Dom :)
Spa... if you (or Dennis) make me "the" set-up I guarantee the D1 👍

- today I ran combo of yours Laguna and Dennis's Nurb set-up, and it worked quite fine... my third stint was really good. I wasted first two learning some corners (had no real practice) like last corner of third sector (padded was witness of my drifts through there). And on second I learned to manage tires bit better... if first two stints were like third, oh boy :)

I only reserve D1 spots in my mind for a small handful of drivers, a lot of maybes.

But I always enjoy meeting people I get to add to that list, so here's to hoping you're right.

I made a clean textbook pass, u turned into me like u were the only one on track, gave me rear damage which led to me spinning and crashing into jash ( which I'm totally sorry), wasn't gonna report the incident but stewards your more than welcome to review it, I had total control of my car so I never used u as a break or whatever analogy you speak of. Congrats on victory!!!

I/we generally don't view **** unless it's reported. Too much work, no offense.

If there was an incident feel 100% free to report it, we'll gladly take a look. (the underlying logic is if it isn't worth filing a report, it's not important enough for our time)

Understood, I just don't like being referred to as a door slammer or being called out for someone else's mistakes, and I wasn't reporting anything, I was saying feel free (as an option) to view it so anyone that wants can look at it thru my windshield and know that I'm a clean racer

Oh, it's only at Spa, IF ever - yeah maybe - but nowhere else, that's for sure  hehehe

Really enjoyed the race tonight, started 2nd but was a bit slow on the off and dropped down to 5th. With no real testing I went for 2stop, think my biggest mistake was brimming the tank on 1st stop.. only did this so I could make a dash for the toilet! After 2nd stop I gradually reeled litchi in and managed to get past him on the last lap after 4 laps of trying. Great stuff:tup: Think we slowed each other down a bit which enabled owen to catch up after his late pitstop taking podium off me and leaving me 4th. Maybe I would of been better on a 3 stop as i was really struggling after 15 laps, plus with less fuel I managed PB 55.9 near end of race.

Also F1 at Texas was brilliant, be nice to see this track in GT5::)

I tried that with you but your tires were just phenomenally better than mine. BTW, sorry for the door jam in the chicane. :guilty:
Lifting on the straight when you came back up seemed the better part of valor. Was so late in my stint I was fighting to stay in the 57's.

While you may not have been apart of PURE at the time, we had a discussion like this during the GATE series at Monaco. Here's a quote from Denilson that I think everyone in this series should read.
https://www.gtplanet.net/forum/showthread.php?t=251886&page=95
Quote:
Just to get my opinion out there. Cause this is something that need to be discussed.

No names or specific incidents mentioned.

We've debated how to put this corner rights/braking point/overlap rule right for 2 years.

Thing is, and this is important, that racing is'nt always black or white. So no matter how we put the words it will lead to discussion from time to time.

Either state it in "black or white" as we have now (a rule need to be easy to understand for it to have an impact), or state it in a wall of text with hundreds of "if's"..
That will also open up for discussion since the rule will be stated in a little bit of white, a huge chunk of grey in the middle, aaand a little bit of black.

In racing, 1million different situations can arise.
Some situations can be figured out well in advance, and some can not.
In a situation, it's hundreds of inputs, decitions, reactions that leads to an outcome.

Things to concider before trying to outbrake someone (in order):
1. Is this corner a good spot for overtaking? Yes (go to point 2) or No (aboard)
2. Does my opponent leave his inside open? Yes (go to point 3) or No (aboard)
3. Do I have enough speed to be well up my opponents side once we reach the brakingspoint (the brakingspoint is a spot from were I can keep my car under control, and also be able to hold the inside line if we enter the corner side by side. Not the spot from where I start braking.)? Yes (go to point 4) or No (aboard)
4. In what state are my tyres? Fresh or Worn? Fresh (go to point 5) or Worn (aboard)
5. In what state are my opponents tyres? Fresh or Worn? Fresh (aboard) or Worn (go to point 6)
6. Do I have more or less grip on my side of the track compared to my opponents side? Yes (go to point 7) or No (aboard)
7. Are there any other cars close by that can jeopardize my attempt? Yes (aboard) or No (go to point 8)
8. I'm approaching a corner entry that is good for overtaking. My opponent leaves the inside open. I carry enough speed to be well up my opponents side once we reach the brakingpoint. I have fresh tyres, and my opponents tyres are worn. I got more grip on my side of the track (be it because of better tyres or stickier tarmac). I got no cars that can jeopardize my or my opponents car/race.
A clean and safe pass will be executed.

This is ofc in a perfect situation. You can ofc outbrake your opponent if he got fresh rubber, but if you do, you need to overlap even more compared to if your opponent are on worn tyres.
Decitions, decitions, decitions... Is what it all comes down to in the end.
Knowing your limits and respect the situations from what they are. If you can't pass, you can't pass..
If you got a 60% chance of passing... Don't try.
If you got a 70% chance of passing... Don't try.
If you got a 80% chance of passing... Don't try.
If you got a 90% chance of passing... If you're in the end of the race and see this opportunity as one of the last ones.. Try.. If not. Stay safe.
If you got a 100% chance of passing.. What are you waiting for?

Be respectful against eachother out there. That's what it all comes down to.
We can state rules in infinity, but without the respect, the rules does'nt mean a thing.
This is on-line racing, and without the respect for other cars positions, we would never ever find ourselves having fun.
I have a lot of fun racing in this group, and that's not because of how we've stated the rules, it's because this is such an amazing group, with respectful individuals! Here's to that!!

Now, once you read this and take a look at the pictures, you decide if it is a clean pass or an unnecessary risk taken way to early in a race that didn't pay off for both parties. I, for one, would not expect ANY racer to try and make a pass 50m away from his opponent in a braking zone.
