Question about career mode

Are there any extras or cars unlocked for playing the career mode? I'm pretty much sure there isn't but I can't find this info anywhere. Thanks

There are, you unlock cars by winning the invitational events, however the unlocking only applies within the career - all cars are available from the start in all the other modes (online/custom race/free practice/time trial).
