Now, personally, I'd be less worried about the wooden wheels, (which, in the 1800s, carried loads much heavier than that Hummer,) and more worried about the steel tires that surround them.

No, you're not. Kits like that just make no sense to me.

The people who wouldn't know the difference probably don't care about what you're driving, and the people who know about the R8 wouldn't be taken for a second. So...what's the point?

The body kit looks awesome IMO, not sure about the black side panels though. Looks just as good as the 350z with the GT-R front bumper.
