Nothing wrong with shedding weight. But to change your body panels with unpainted replacements and swapping out your hood with one that has fake air scoops is more of a statement than a pursuit of performance. You're saying, "Because racecar".
I could have fixed my dented stocker for about the same price, but I
did opt for
this one for the styling more than anything, I'll admit - I've always liked the design more than stock, and enjoy driving something I've yet to see a duplicate of in traffic. But I feel compelled to point out that the vents aren't fake. The rear intake seems pointless (I suppose maybe 'cause the header is back there now on Honda engines), but the reverse fronts line up with the centered grille quite squarely behind the radiator. Seems like it would do a decent job of keeping in-bay temps down.
I don't drive like Speed Racer or rev at other drivers thinking I'm hot s*** because of the body mods. I simply want to have a daily driver that I enjoy looking at. If people think it looks stupid, that's cool. I don't agree with everyone else's taste either - like most of the examples in this thread: I can understand the owners liking their decisions, but it's not for me (or clearly anyone else here). Or art in general. It's subjective, and people will pay millions for Van Gogh paintings, which look to me like beginner's work. Picasso was especially poor. I'm sure many would argue until they're blue in the face that I'm nuts. The look of bare carbon fiber is sometimes beautiful to my eyes; clear coat that s*** and preserve it!
... on topic. I think that Audi is cool. Looking at the couple on the right, in the background, I imagine the conversation:
Man: "yeah, that's mine"
Woman: "... what the ****, man?!"
