Questions and Answers

But it says Time Trial Race..... I think it's Single Race since Rally is essentially a Time Trial

It's Time Trial in single player, don't forget to do Raid as well. The capitalised letters are the clue, as it is specifying the mode by name rather then a general.

I have the trophy, it's definitely in the time trial mode in single player.

Speaking of trophies, I was looking at the Monte Carlo trophies, and I believe the last one said win online (don't remember how many times) and then said (Jam Session). I was wondering how the new tracks would be integrated online, hopefully not just JS. But if they put them in Pro Tour, people get kicked or if they split up a separate Monte Carlo section of Pro Tour, the player base, which is already small, gets split up. I'm glad they're adding career event(s) though with the track pack.

It's possible to run cars from the Power & Glory car pack against players who do not have them. So I'm guessing that the stage that is run will be taken from the host's library of available stages. I don't think it would really be a problem, because the game is run off the server. The only disadvantage people without the Monte Carlo pack will have is unfamiliarity with the stages. But then, I intend to get the pack the moment I find it's available, so it's not going to be a problem.

And if they're adding events with the Monte Carlo pack, then I hope they add a whole lot and not just one or two plus a Rallye Monte Carlo in the World Tour. I wonder if we're getting Trailblzer stages, too ...

I don't think they will allow non-buyers to run them. What would be the point of buying it then? One of your friends buys it and you all race it in jam session? That's certainly one way to not make any money off DLC. Cars are different, they don't directly affect other people racing, only possibly give an advantage (which itself is constantly in dispute and depends on the car). Of course, I'm specifically talking about console versions, I don't know about PC. But I don't see any way they would allow everyone to jump on a jam session and race monte carlo for free with the host's track pack.

Judging by the track maps that I posted in another thread, you'd have to race them dozens of times to learn them all. I've had the game for a month now, and there are still stages that haven't fully ingrained themselves into my brain. I don't know them instinctively.

Okay...but knowing them is irrelevant to my point? They want to make money, not friends.

Unless you're just randomly stating you don't know the maps...I don't know them either. I know there's a tree in Kenya I almost always hit. :ouch:

Seven Hundred and Twenty P's....

if that was too hard to comprehend then try this:

Max definition of DiRT3 = 720 x P

Is anybody else having trouble unlocking acheivements? One of the ones that was included for Monte Carlo is called "The Tourist" and requires you to go 100mp/h (161km/h) in Monte Carlo. It's actually pretty difficult; I managed to do it with the Delta S4 in time trial and the Audi Quattro in single race, but I haven't unlocked it yet.

Acheivements.....? They exist?

But in any case, your best bet is to use the longest straight and exit the corner prior to that with the highest exit speed possible, forget smooth turning if need be.

I know that. I managed 165km/h in a Delta with the longest gears and the least downforce possible. I just didn't get the achievement that I was supposed to get, and I was wondering if anybody else had the same problem.

Maybe because you misread what you have to do to unlock that achievement.
The Tourist
Drive in excess of 100 miles (161 km) in Monte Carlo

Getting through all the new Monte Carlo DiRT Tour races once will get you near enough half way to this total. For the rest I would just suggest heading online and playing jam session rally events, since you can dictate what tracks you join or select if you make your own game. You can go for "French Connection" and avoid having to boost it afterwards if you want since you will need to do a good bit of racing on these tracks anyway.

Notice it says you have to drive in excess of 100 miles in Monte Carlo. This was copied from here: http://www.ps3trophies.org/forum/dirt-3/108008-dirt-3-trophy-guide-road-map-dlc.html
Haven't checked if it is different in the 360 version.

Right. Where's the embarrased smiley?

Although instead of doing the Jam Sessions, I like the Battle in Lucrean under the Monster Showdown in the final season. It's a shame you can't do it in 1970s cars (so no Mk. II Escort Cosworth), but it has all the best stages.

Plus, the loading times are excruciating in offline. I select a Monte Carlo event or stage, and the screen goes white. It's then a few minutes before the loading screen showing the event logo and car show up. If I'm playing online and it takes too long for other players to join, I get disconnected. Although I suppose if I set up a five-stage rally with the first stage being somewhere other than Monte Carlo, it might go quicker.

This thread is now 9 pages long.

Maybe it's time to create some sort of an index in the first post, to make it easier to find your question (and answer)? That way we can avoid having (god forbid) more than one thread with questions (and answers)?

Yeah, if the people who make threads will be more committed to this stuff...

If all else fails, just asks any questions here, regardless of how many times asked.

If I knew how to do that, or had the time to do it... I would.

Heard of the search function?

Indexing! That would take alot of work, it's basically taking all the questions and their corresponding answers & then placing them on the OP.. right?
e.g.

Q: Is the max definition for this game 720p or 1080p?
A: 720p

Q: So what happens when enough votes are made in pro tour? Does the designated event get changed?
A: Yes, the discipline/track gets vetoed and is changed.

ect.

I've made an index for a Q&A for burnout in the past (not on GTP)... It takes patience, but if you can sit on a computer for an hour, you most certainly "have the time" to do it.

I don't sit at the computer for an hour.

But since you obviously do, instead of complaining about me not being "dedicated" enough to maintain the thread, which I didn't even know was stickied until yesterday, why don't you go start your own and index it.

I browse the forums on my iPad.

Amazing how you can start a thread which is directed towards helping members and someone finds a way to complain about it.

There is no need now that this already exists. I also don't have as much knowledge as some others do on this game which is why I never started one... But don't use that as an argument against me; I do like to have organization in a forum in general.

Back to relevant topics...

Anyone come up with a solid tune for the Fiesta WRT for the Monte Carlo tracks? I am putting up respectable times, but still no where close to the WR.
