*Race* is out

Is this that new game by SimBin with officially licensed WTCC cars? If so, can't wait to get home and try it out.
 
yeah... its pretty much what i expected. no surprise there :p. it feels very arcadey to me... even at full sim. of course this is an early demo but still... i've never been satisfied with anything made on the isi/gmotor engine.

You know, you're the first person I've met who agrees with me on this...

...you are talking about the fact that GTR, GTLegends, GTR2, RACE, and rFactor were all made using the same engine that EA's F12002 used, right? 'Cause that's what I've always noticed.
 
yeah, thats what i'm talking about. alot of other people feel the same way. its just most of those people dont go to gtplanet.net :p
 
I agree, the best engine around so far is LFS, I just hope LFS is openined up to modders with S3, it's about time it was.
 
downloading now. It took me more than an hour to download and now I've lost due to a "fault".
 
I am surprise they put Macau track into this game
that's the place I want to see in race sim for long time

Why are you suprised? Its a round of the WTCC why wouldnt they put it in..
 
I just tried the demo. This game s*cks. Simbin is losing my respect.

Correct me if im wrong but the team who made GTL and GTR2 were not the team who made RACE
 
Don't know, but Race really did suck for a game that's meant to be a proper sim, the only plus it had over other sims was working wipers.
 
I tend to agree with live4speed. When I first got GTR I couldn't play any other racing "sims" because they were just poor in comparison. Unless Simbin, or 10tacle come out with a second RACE demo where you actually RACE AI or multiplayer, instead of the clock, then they are going to have a tough time convincing me to buy. In each of the times I've tried the game I've been so fed up with it I haven't got enough junk on the windshield to use the wipers, however I have had them on from the start because I'm a bit of a :dunce: lol. If I recall correctly the GTR2 demo didn't do much for me in terms of its sim quality however with the competition faced in it I gave the game a chance, bought the full version and have been loving it ever since. Just my two cents here fellows.

EDIT: @ Small_Fryz, I believe that this is in fact the team who made GTL and the GTR games. Maybe with another publisher or something, but essentially the same core group, Simbin and as I understand it 10tacle as well. Could be wrong.
 
i thought the original simbin guys left and became blimey, and these are mostly new simbin guys that made RACE
 
Yep, most of the team that made GTR and GTL are now part of Blimey games, blimey did GTR2 but they have nothing to do with Race. And you can tell, regardless of if you hold GTR's physics as the best or not everyone should agtree that's Race doesn' compare.

Yeah, just like GTA Vice City is a mod of Burnout. :rolleyes:
(Yes, they both use the Renderware engine - google it if you don't believe me.)

Just cause two games uses the same engine, doesn't automaticly make the newest one a mod. It's a full sim - and a damn good one, when you spend some time with it.
 
It's not, it isn't realisitc compared to past efforts. The original Simbin team that did GTR were much better than these guys who've really messed it up imo and no it's not the same people as the GTR guys. A WTCC mod for GTR/GTR2 would probably be a lot better than this game has turned out.
 
yeah, its about standards. some people just have low standards when it comes to physics and realism.

So you want the "new" team to mod a game created by the old team?
I don't follow the logic here. They split up for a reason, and you are implying that they still should work together?

The full game is a lot better than the demo (just like GTR GTL and GTR2 before it.)

@Gabkicks - sorry to say this but it has been tested by the real drivers in the series, as you can see in the video in the media gallery, on the race site. If they give it thumbs up, it must be good. Do you have any real WTCC experience?

Nope, I don't think so. It is a marketing thing!!! They have to give it thumbs up for advertising reason.

No I didn't mention the new team doing anything, I said a WTCC mod created for GTR2 would liklely be better than Race. I didn't menation the two teams working together or either team doing anything. As for the real drivers giving the thumbs up, so, GT4 got the thumbs up and that's not the most realistic game ou tthere. So did countless crap PSX games including Tommi Makkinen rally, which was the crappiest of crap btw. And countless gaems since that are crap have been given the "thumbs up" by race drivers ect. Sometimes these drivers are getting paid to endorse the product. Someone endorsing the game in some way is not a marker for how realistic the game may or may not be.

being tested by real drivers doesnt mean anything. They are inexperienced with sim racing and how close it can be to reality and the standards that have already been set. And in all the interviews i've seen, they never commented on the physics. just the track detail and car detail. and how things still needed work. Its all just marketing.

+ all the sim racers i know with real racing experience said its crap.
 
What if we looked at the game as a) not a simbin game, b) not a simulation and c) as a toca style touring car game..

Surely then its good. Also i have heard the online play is really good.

And the graphics rock!
