Well I might pick this up soon, I had the first one and enjoyed it on the whole (PS3) but the online was basically unplayable. Have all the lag issues been ironed out??

Few other questions, what new weapon options are there? Does it take forever to go up ranks still and get new weapons? How long does it take to get the UMP (my weapon of choice)? and single player gains you XP yes, but is it a substantial amount of just a little bit?

After checking out the weapon lists for both games, there is one more pistol (Walther P99), three more submachine guns (Type 05, Steyr AUG Para, and Scorpion VZ83), four more assault rifles (AKS-74u, Barrett M468, FN FNC, and Enfield L85A2), two more sniper rifles (Heckler & Koch PSG-1 and Accuracy International Arctic Warfare), and one more shotgun (Mossberg 500 Tactical). The number of light machine guns stays the same. Additionally, all of the guns in the first game carry over into this one.

Going up ranks is not too bad because of the new ACES system. The ACES system gives you points for different achievements in three categories, with the categories being Marksmen, CQB, and Assault. Getting a headshot gives you one point in Marksmen for example. Another example is a kill with an explosive nets you two points in Assault. Originally, there was just 20 levels to the three categories and each odd numbered level gave X amount of experience; each even numbered category gives a weapon. After an update, the system stayed the same, except every level over 20 gives 5000 experience.

Time to get the UMP? I am assuming you are talking about the H&K UMP45? If that is the case, then it is gained at the 4th level of CQB, which does not take long at all to achieve.

Every kill in single player nets you experience. The amount of experience gained depends on which difficultly you are playing. You also gain experience from each kill your teammates make, though the amount is less than what you get for a kill. I just restarted with a fresh game not too long ago, have not spent a bunch of time playing, and I am already at the 17th level of Marksmen, 9th of CQB, and 11th of Assault and have a rank of Gunnery Sergeant (8th rank).

I cannot really comment too much on the lag of the first game compared to the second because I did not play the first online. But like any game, there are games you will get into that lag and others you get into that do not.

Thanks for the info.
As concerns lag basically on RSV 1 you could only hit where you shot if you were the host, it was pretty awfuland rendered most of the online modes useless, even in terrorist hunt you had to learn to aim slightly ahead of where the enemy is even if they were right in your face.

I dont care to much for the team deathmatch style modes, i have COD for that, the co-op modes and terrorist hunts were my old favourite. It felt like forever to get up through the higher ranks though, and seeing as all you got was camo/armour and the odd weapon, it felt unrewarding and the camoflauges were pretty ugly on the whole as the ranks got higher. All the actual camo (ie not pink etc.) seemed to be unlocked early on. I'm assuming this time for your rank you get the camo, armour and clothes with all weapons being unlocked with that ACES system?

Yep. Gaining ranks gives you camouflage, armor, and more clothing. All weapons are opened through the ACES.

Online play is much better. Occasionally, you will get in a game that you have to really aim ahead. But for the most part, you will find good games.

Co-op through single player campaign is better on this game. It is played the same as if you alone were playing it, story and all. The only difference being there are four team members, you, the two team members, and whoever is playing with you.

I have really enjoyed playing online. Team Leader matches can be a lot of fun if you get two good teams going against one another. Attack and Defend is alright, though I have not played much of it. Team Deathmatch is much like Team Leader in that it can be fun if both teams are nearly evenly matched. On the other hand, Deathmatches are not very fun; they might be better if you go in a smaller room, instead of being in one that has 10 or 12 people. I have enjoyed playing Total Conquest the few times I have played it, especially when I switched over to carrying C4; C4 can be incredibly fun to use online. :D

C4 was priceless in Vegas 1 online, treat it like a frag grenade :) like when a guys round the corner, lob the C4 and boom.

Sounds good though, I think i'll pick up a copy later in the week from eBay :)

Yeah it was! and yeah ur ass was! lol My best friend had fun too. 👍
We are planning on doing this again tonight if you want to join. I wont be up as late but we can still play for a few hours. I thought I had to work but now I dont have to.

Damn... I have to work til 9 and then I'll probably be going to a friend's bday party. :(

Have fun anyway. 👍

Well my copy is on it's way to me now (PS3). I have high hopes for every aspect (accept maybe graphics). I've roped my girlfriend into playing co-op with me when I get it after she played through nearly al of Act1 on COD4 in 1 sitting last time here . As long as the terrorist hunt and co-op online are not laggy, that's all that matters to me really.

Maybe you can hook up with me some time next week when mine arrives if you have ps3 :)

and well done, i remember the hunts, they're pretty difficult if you don't know the map.

Well I know the maps for the most part. The thing that helps me the most is knowing pretty much exactly when to expect terrorists to spawn. I would definitely help you out. Just look for me to be online.

It is only map knowledge I'll really need, I've had plenty of RSV experience before, particularly with the hunts on realistic, of which I complete most on RSV1. it'll take a while to re-adjust to the physics and controls but it shouldn't take long and i'll probably manage that in story. Bad thing is i still lack a working headset.

The seller wasn't all that quick on the dispatch, it was sent out today so hopefully it'll be here tomorrow :)

As predicted it arrived (yes i know im making a triple post but there's a big time gap). Got to around Act 3 in single player then took it online for some hunts. Terrorist hunting seems improved as there's less of a camp in one place on the map attitude, although obviously people do camp out at each stage, progress haults if someone doesn't move, which is good. I've picked it up pretty quick and I do a decent job on Realistic, but I can't do hunts solo on it yet (online anyway haven't tried offline). Versus online is trash, to much lag it doesn't work at all but i love the hunts.

I've been using the UMP + High capacity mag (and I silence it) and a FAMAS with 6X which seems to work pretty well. One thing that confuses me, was just in a hunt on Theater (Realistic) with 2 other guys, both of them were similar ranks to me (
i'm sergeant) maybe a bit higher. Yet they seemed to have no idea what to do, i'd never even seen this map. The game started and within 30 seconds I was on my own, I was charged by the merciless AI goons and took out about 5 at once. Then i crouched and snook around ended up being shot in the back and running for cover, killing him then running a bit to find myself jammed in a corner with little cover and 4 terrorists around then a flashbang hit me! Managed to pull through that somehow to then be killed by the 5th to find me in the corner when i got caught on the reload :( 17 kills in total so i was pleased.

Hope to see some of you on there soon, just add me :)

Having a certain rank does not really mean a whole lot in the game. I have played with some Elites that were no where near as good as me and I have played with some that absolutely blow the socks off of me. In Terrorist Hunts, it is not a good idea to charge into it. That only causes a bunch of terrorists to spawn on top of you.

It is weird that you have a problem with lag on multiplayer. I have had problems with lag in some games, but I have played in 14 player games and had no problem.

The FAMAS is a very popular assault rifle. I have not played with it too much, but I found it to go through a magazine too quickly for my tastes. I have found a 6x scope to be a bit on the excessive side for Terrorist Hunts, as terrorists are never really far away enough to warrant the need.

Lately, I have been playing around with the SCAR-H; the extra stopping power it has is wonderful. The only thing I wished that was quicker to change is the fire rate; it would be great if you could switch more quickly between single shot and automatic fire. There are plenty of times that I would like to be able to quickly switch to a single shot for a precise distance shot and then quickly back to automatic fire for some CQB. As far as submachine guns go, I like the P90.

Dragonistic ,
I am glad you are enjoying the game. The terrorist hunts is where I usually spend most of my time. While I never see lag in the vs mode, I am just not good enough to enjoy it. At least when I get owned by the terrorists I dont feel as bad. Plus its a drop in drop out TH and campaign so there is always someone to play with. If you had the 360 version I would have sent you a FR.

Ur ass just doesn't get drunk enough. :p

I really gotta play this more, played the other day with my friend and it was fun. Stupid school.

We will be on late Friday night again if you want to join. I will have to be quite though since Heather has to work in the morning. We will be playing this or Halo 3.

I'll probably join in! Although, I work fri nights. this week til 10. 👎
That works perfect. We wont be on until after 10-11 PM Friday night. I might play the PS3 until around 10 then switch to the 360.

oh ok, cool. I'll see if I can get my best friend in too. :D

BTW, you decided to keep the PS3 or you still got time?

I still have the PS3 until around the 18th. I might even get a chance to rent the new Socom before I return the PS3.

Now Heather doesnt have to work tomorrow so we can stay up and be as loud as we want tonight. I am sure she will joining in on the fun for sure. :)

schwet! My friend won't be able to join us I think too.

Anyway, I haven't played rsv2 since I played with you guys, but I stayed up all night til 4 playing. FUN

Even used the two augs which I thought were worthless. I guess it means I'm THAT good. :sly: j/k

Thats perfect we will have a perfect group of 4. Should be a blast. I will probably be in rough shape again come saturday morning. We also have Rock band 2 and Halo 3 that we can all play. Probalby start off with RB2 for a little while.

I have only unlocked the AUG A3 so far, my ACES are 11/9/7 i think off the top of my head. Still workingfor that L85 :) it seems easier to get marksman points in single player then anywhere else though, so i may concentrate on that for a while.

You should play the 4 player drop in drop out terrorist hunt online. If anyone on your team gets points they go to everyone. So even when you are dead you still get points. 👍 Same with the Co-op campaign online.
I seem to always use the AK even though it isnt very good. I like the challenge.
Off Topic: Nice looking avatar Dragonistic.
