ATM, I'm more interested in a patch that stops these frame rate drops... They're killin me.

Frame rate is te least of Ubi softs problems right now, practicaly every major gameing website is reporting the server issues with online games, you bought this game to play online (like I and many others did) then just forget it that whole side of the game dosn't work. Says online play on the back of the box but no one can play online.......This is seriously harming PS3 sales of this game and the reputation of Ubi soft and to an extent that of the PS3 online service. It's like buying a car and the brakes only work 10% of the time..........Would you recomend it or buy one if you already knew? I have had no issues with other PS3 online games bar a few teething problems in the first week of COD4 (nothing to this extent) this game though is right up there, easily takeing the title of "worst online game on the PS3" which really drives you mad as it could be one of the best bar the server issues!

I played the 360 version online all week and weekend with no problems. Co-op campaign games, multiplayer games, and lots of 4 player co-op terrorist hunts. No problems besides an occasional bug here and there.
I love how everything is drop in drop out now. One person leaves another quickly replaces that person. Works perfect.
Really sucks to hear everyone is having problems with the PS3 version. Its a great game so hopefully they fix the problems for you.

Yeah the 360 version has few problems, I did mange to get a full game and a half (longest yet) this morning when the servers where less busy. Absoloutly loved it. people were using teamwork (note to COD4 players "this is how it's suposed to be") Even the guys with no coms played tacticaly within the team (which was just random players) This really dose grate on my nerves as I know until it's patched these games (or any) will be a rareity. Given Ubisofts past record of patching we could be in for a long wait although with the severity of the problem they may make it a priority especialy if Sony gets the big sticks out. To be honest the game should be withdrawn from sale till the problem is solved, I may take my copy back and ask for a full refund and get it again when t's fixed. with prologue ready to go and COD4 map pack due in 2 weeks plus GTA4 waiting in he wings this could kill R6V2 if it's not patched soon, and this would be a shame as it is an excellent game

Thanks for all that info Scaff :)👍

The on-line problems are not as bad as most sites and forums are making out and certainly no worse that both COD4 and Warhawk were when they first came out. The nice thing is most of the issue seem to be issues with the hosting server end of things, which is good news as its unlikely that a user patch will be required. Much like the searching for match issues that COD4 had, these should be able to be resolved with server mods and upgrades at Ubisoft's end of things.

I like the on-line mode a lot, as it plays like COD4 hardcore in terms of weapon damage.

On a related note its no even close to as poor on-line as UT3 still is, that simply would not work on-line at all with my main account. Its also poor timing on Ubisoft's part that its the Easter weekend that it happened on, so any work on the servers has effectively lost two days already.

Thanks for all that info Scaff :)👍
Not a problem at all.

Regards

Scaff

I have managed to get into a dozen or so games throughout the day......Not finished one yet LOL Nat 2 and 10meg before anyone blames me, I agree with scarff that it's a server problem.....or rather a lack of them. Tomorow is really the first day they get to look at the problem so lets cross our fingers. The fact the game is so good makes it more frustrateing.

Someone is obviously a super fan of Vegas...

Surprisingly neat...:sly:

I've been doing offline co-op story and the lag/frame rate is killin me. Online is just a waste of time. Since I tried, I've only gotten the list to show ONCE. BTW, I'm on a 360...

Is this a problem on both systems? I hope they sort it out with a patch or something! :scared:

Considering the "patch" that didn't fix FM2 for me I don't think it will with this either... 👎:grumpy:

OK for those who have flung this in the corner it's time to dig it out, It's been "fixed" in record time, looks like just a serious lack of servers. Game is sweet as a nut now online, in fact best online experience yet! on par with COD4 graphicly not as good but tacticaly an equal if not better!

God, is that why I was miraculously able to get online and kick ass in T Hunt?! It was sooooo damn fun! Also never noticed any FR lag either. I haven't tried single player or the maps that it's really bad on but, all I know is RSV2 FTW! RSV2 1337!

So wish I wasn't working and going biking later... :grumpy:

Yeah I was shocked when every game I entered was flawless (had lag in one game out of about 30) Now I can start learning all these new maps, theres some real classics in this game, and the added recoil of the guns is realy making a difference over long range, Switch to single shot, aim for chest then double tap, second shot should end up in his face...3rd one about a foot over his head so go with something with some power as Guys lumbering around with heavy armour can be like tanks. On this subject the armour and speed of movement is also turned up like the weapon characteristics and recoil, makes equiping your guy a real challenge, but haveing the option of saveing a number of setups for different roles helps especialy when you see the variation in the maps!

Yeah it's PC bound

There was one time where I was playing T hunt, we were about an hr into playing and these guys were getting annoyed that I wasn't talking. It was actually quite entertaining to listen to them kinda like watching Jaywalking. Anyways, so I randomly turned on my mic and started talking. It scared the **** out of one player as he was rounding a corner and died.

Hey, this game is great! The original RS6V has been gathering layers upon layer of dust on my shelf since buying COD4, but this is far superior in terms of single-player enjoyment and the co-op story is excellent fun. I love the ranking system too, it just makes me want to play it over and over again. Only gripe is the crazy slowdown at some points and the dodgy graphics in split-screen multiplayer. Oh, and there haven't been many weapons added since the original (hoping for some DLC here). Otherwise, brilliant!

 💡 You know you've been playing to much RSV2 when you start dreaming that you are still playing the game. :dopey:

I've been playing with some good single player results so far. Nothing has really "WOW'ed" me yet, but it's fun and true to it's genre.

Just finished the campaign on the game on the Normal difficulty. I have to say there were some parts that were pretty difficult. Much like R6V, I really enjoyed the game. I have also been dabbling a little with the multiplayer side of the game and have enjoyed it some, though I have not really played it enough to really get the hang of things just yet.

Outside of that, I have been messing around on single player Terrorist Hunt to fiddle around with the various weapons. On R6V (no multiplayer experience on it), I never used any of the light machine guns; but on R6V2, I have used the light machine guns a bunch and have been fairly impressed by the results. I have also been trying some of the different assault rifles and cannot really decide on just one; I really somewhat get the feel that they all perform pretty similar.

Try and get the M249 SFW it's a light machine gun but, the accuracy on it even at a long distance is [censored] awesome. The other gun I can't recommend enough is the mTar with a high capacity mag. Close or long distance it's [censored] awesome too!

As for guns that suck, but I love to use... The M8 (single shot mode), L85 (single shot mode), FNC (single shot mode) for the kick ass sound but don't expect to hit and kill much... Finally, we can't forget the Skorpion with a scope... yes, a scope ftw!

I highly recommend anyone at least try online co-op T-Hunt it's [censored] awesome!

Edit: Wow... I was on an online T-Hunt game and all the guys kept dying. I asked a simple question of why they keep dying? and they kicked me from the game. lool

So my friend's copy has a scratch on the edge of the disc and it won't play. It says "disk error" or whatever it is. Anyway, it's the disk and not the system since it does the same thing on my 360 too. Is there a way to get a replacement disk or is he screwed? Thanks

Hay, triple post! (not really since nobody comes in here... apparently.) :grumpy:

Anyway, I got this game for my PS3 since my 360 died... Gotta say, there's a bit of a learning curve going from a 360 environment to the PS3's. Still, I got use to it and it's been just as fun as the 360 version. Kinda funny, me being the nOObie rank, but still being on top in kills when playing online.

I have not played R6V2 in a while, maybe I need to start playing it some more.

:nods head: Yes, you do. :p

Whoo Hoo!

Introducing: The Fan Pack!
The Fan Pack includes an Update for the game and DLC (downloadable content). The first thing that may come to mind is: “Is this free?” Yes it is, including the DLC. This pack will be available via Xbox Live Marketplace, PlayStation Network and ubi.com in July 2008.
*** Update Features ***
New Ranks
An additional 99 Elite Ranks have been added for bragging rights. For those of you who are already Elite, you may have noticed that your XP continued to accumulate while playing. Once you have the update, your XP will automatically be applied towards the new Elite ranks, so it is possible that you have already ranked up multiple times past Elite.
New A.C.E.S.
A total of 100 A.C.E.S. are available for each category: Marksman, CQB and Assault. Each A.C.E.S. level past 20 will reward you with 5000 XP that applies to your rank. For players who have already reached A.C.E.S. 20 and continued to collect A.C.E.S. points, you will be happy to know that the update will automatically advance you to the level you have earned. For example, if you have enough A.C.E.S. points to reach Marksman 25, you will automatically be at Marksman 25 and earn 25000 (5000 x 5) towards your next Rank.
Grenade Indicator
When you are within the damage radius of a Frag or Incendiary grenade, an indicator will appear on-screen telling you which direction it is. The indicator can show multiple grenades at once.
Weapons & Gadgets Balancing
Here are a couple of notes about Weapons and Gadgets:
• Explosion delay of the incendiary grenade has been increased
• Detonation speed of the C4 has been slightly increased
• Increased the damage of Sniper Rifles at long range
• Increased the base accuracy of the Light Machine Guns
• Adjusted the rate of fire for some of the Assault Rifles, Shotguns and an SMG
• Sped up the time it takes to zoom in & out with weapons, making it more responsive
To better clarify: the zoom for all firearms have been significantly sped-up and you can now fire DURING the zoom transition.
Respawns in Team Deathmatch – Host Option
An added host option has been added for Random Respawns. Random Respawns OFF will play like the classic Versus style where each team spawns in their designated Alpha or Bravo base. Random Respawns ON will have your players spawn randomly throughout the map after they die the first time.
Voice Chat – Host Option
Added as a host option for Player Match & System Link, players now have the option to talk to their team mates while dead.
Score in Deathmatch
Displayed on the bottom left of the HUD in Deathmatch, players can now see their score along with the top opponent’s score.
Team Leader - Spawn Change
Players now respawn next to the leader by default, unless players specifically choose to spawn back at the base.
Show Dead Players in Lobby
Players who no longer have lives remaining will now have a skull icon displayed next to their name in the pause menu.
Terrorist Hunt Spawning
Terrorists will no longer spawn right in front of you or behind you, or in a room you just cleared.

High Stakes Setting
High Stakes is a host option for every Versus mode that really pushes tactical gameplay to the next level. Here’s a detailed description of High Stakes:
Limited HUD (High Stakes)
The Radar is disabled. Enemies will not be visible on the Tactical Map (back button on 360/select button on PS3). Grenade indicator is disabled.
Health System (High Stakes)
Health regen is disabled. If you are shot and close to death, you’ll enter a visual state of critical health (screen turns monochromatic).
Cover System (High Stakes)
The cover system as been changed in High-Stakes mode to encourage players to peek instead of pop-n-shoot. The camera has been moved so your character cannot look past their cover unless they expose themselves around a corner.
Weapons & Gadgets (High Stakes)
Aim Assistance has been completely disabled. Bullet spread has also been increased when not zoomed-in (you will notice your crosshair indicators are much wider when not in zoom). Realistically, a person holding a gun would have better aim when zoomed-in than when he’s walking around. This encourages players to really take aim instead of run-n-gun. Also remember that the zoom time has been sped-up and you can now fire WHILE you zoom in and out. Players now have less ammunition (1 for each gadget you choose and less clips for your guns) so you really need to play conservatively and rely on precision use of ammo.
Kill Camera & Friendly Fire (High Stakes)
Kill Camera is always disabled and Friendly fire is always enabled.
*** DLC ***

THREE FREE MAPS
There are three maps included in the free DLC: Murdertown – Dark, CQB Training – Dark and best of all the much-requested fan favourite Calypso Casino! The three map layouts have not been changed. The re-lit “Dark maps” have a very eerie atmosphere, and may require players to use night vision to spot enemies. Calypso Casino returns with updated lighting and textures. The three maps are playable in all Versus modes and Terrorist Hunt.

This Fan Pack is dedicated to all of you in the Rainbow Six community. Everything in this update and DLC comes directly from you on the forums, private messages to us and even matches the team has played with you all online. We’d like to sincerely thank you for your continued support and feedback. See you online!

The new A.C.E.S. ranking is great news, as I would have likely never gotten to Elite status. It is just too much time invested in the game and there are too many other games I want to play.

Well, I started playing the game again and I have to say I remember exactly why I enjoy this game. For the most part, it is put together well. The controls are not perfect, but are pretty close. That alone makes the game very enjoyable. If Ubisoft would have just transferred R6Vs control scheme to the GRAW series, then that game would have been a lot better.

As of late, I have been playing some Terrorist Hunts online and that has been going pretty well. Terrorist Hunt is much more enjoyable online than playing alone, especially if you get three others who are pretty good at the game.

I have also been playing some campaign co-op. That is very enjoyable and really adds to the replay value of the game, especially considering the realistic setting is more easily completed that way.

👍

BTW, found out the new DLC is out! Get it NOW! I believe it's free too.
