Rally Round The Ring. Interested?

I have two possible runs to submit, and haven't decided which to go with. Both are close to the target times, but one is a bit under while the other is a bit over. My quandry is, the one that's under the target times is closer to the actual targets than the one that's over. I'm hazy enough on the rules that it's unclear to me which would give the better score.

In any case, it seems to be an excellent competition shaping up!

You are faced with somewhat of a quandry. However let me qualify, the only penalty you will receive is for coming in under my times. One second penalty time for every second under time will be added to your total time. The winner is the one closest to my times without coming in under those times and the closest to my total time. In the event of a tie the one who picks his car closest in configuration will be the winner! Clear as mud!

I am most gratified, and indeed humbled, by your gracious participation! I see before me the absolute creme de la creme. Yon times that you have posted are quite close to mine, but only one of you has come close to car selection! This is great fun! Any suggestions after this round will be most welcome. You all are indeed giants amongst racers in this community, and I again thank you for your enthusiasm!

Fangio, I will not be able to give you a time unless I can submit it next Monday or Tuesday, as I am going to Le Mans this weekend, and will be leaving on the Friday, and getting back very late on Sunday night, thus I do not currently have the time to submit an entry, as I also have some school work to do as well. I hope that isn't a problem.

A gentleman after mine own heart. Thine Benzo was an exquisite choice! Stirling Moss and I are indeed pleased. You have caught the spirit of this series spot on!
Again, gentleman, it is with genuine appreciation that I thank you all. Schedules and lives can be quite hectic, so for you to take the time to participate is grand!
If this keeps up I maybe able to post the final times ahead of schedule.

I arrived with a Jensen Interceptor, and thought to myself as I peered around at the MG TD's, TF's, MGA's, Morgan Plus 4's and the like that I had the whole thing in the bag. Not understanding the format fully, I ended up humliating myself, with the highest amount of penalty time in club history! Fortunately, it was a good natured bunch, and I soon learned.
The specs I put out for the cars are indeed misleading. I may or may not use the highest HP car allowed, but because giving specs close to the car I actually used, may limit choices!
Be of good cheer! The results maybe surprising,

Well, I have had to take Famine for a ride, to add an extra 10% of weight to stabilise the vehicle. Times up ASAP

You are indeed a remarkable lot! I doff my cap to your talents and to your dedication. A surprising result as you will see in a moment. Only one of you, Good Squire Serge, selected my steed, the beautiful XKE. But even that did not secure victory.

This weeks winner is Sir LukeAllen with no penalty's and finished within .139 of my total time! Congratulations on an amazing performance. Second goes to Sir Serge with only .33 in penalty time! Another stellar performance. Third is given to Squire BobK with less than 3 seconds in penaltys. Even though Bobk's time was faster than my total he had the fewest penaltys of the remaining racers. Sir Jordan grabs onto fourth place. Sir Jordan I'm afraid you had almost 30 seconds in penalty time. Corey and Jose, I'm afraid you did not finish in the money this week but there is plenty of time. I did grant XJR an extension as he went to Le Mans this weekend, but I think it will be difficult to unseat those at the top. Remember you need to get as close to my times without beating them, to avoid penaltys.
As I stated originally, this series is open to suggestions and adjustments as needed. The standings are as follows:
Luke- 5 points
Sege- 4 points
Bob- 3 points
Jordan- 1 point
Again congrats to the top 4, and encouragement to all the rest.

This week I am changing things just a bit. I will post 3 splits in order to help a bit. This weeks car is no newer than 1972. The stock car may not have any more than 450 HP. You may modify in any way you see fit. The car I chose I am indeed intimate with, as I have actually owned said beasty! She is a handful so beware.

As you can see, a bit quicker than last week, and I think you should all be in under the times I have posted.

After my first race win, I was told that even a blind squirrel could find an acorn from time to time! A bit deflating! At any row, congrats. I chose this format, as it is as much about speed as it is about consistancy and rythm. You drove a very steady and quick race, and you are to be commended. Beware, however, heavy's the head that wears the crown!:)
