Heh, if it's really giving you a hard time, and you wanna beat the rally, there's always the good ol' Dualshock 2. :dopey: But yeah... practice always helps too.

I can't wait to get my DFP. Just hearing about how hard it is to rally makes me wanna get good at it.

Do professional race cars even use 900 degrees. U guys could be making it unrealistically hard for yourself.though u know yeahh aoa. I would think race cars need to have quick reaction for better performance taking turns.Isnt 900 degree made for public cars on the road.

it is really too hard to rally with the dfp, it shakes my table like mad and just hard to turn quickly. i actually don't enjoy playing rally at all... anyone else feel the same?
I understand what you mean, but like many others said, I think it's a question of practice. I remember I also had a few troubles with my new DFP, even on the regular asphalt tracks in GT4P. Just unable to keep on the track at the beginning. After a few hours of play, I was much better, and then I beat all the times I had put with the DS2 controller.
As for rallying, I still find it quite difficult, I'm still not able to have gold and be as efficient as I was with the controller, but bronze is ok. The main difference is that you have to fight more, and each mistake is paid cash with the DFP.

I really think you have to keep practicing, learning, understanding what is good and wrong and you will surely improve. When correctly used, the DFP provides a real more fun (and efficiency), it worthes it.
If the others did it, you surely can. keep focused ! :)

Does anyone think that the car I started off with, the 280hp Nismo 270R is a bad learning car? I'm having a lot of trouble correcting mistakes, and when I'm going slow enough not to make mistakes, I can hardly compete with other cars.

Anyone have any suggestions for a good, ballanced car? I'm thinking of getting the Evo VIII MR and using it stock while I learn to drive.

Try putting better tires on it first. Tires make the biggest difference all around. The EVO might be good as it's supposed to be very forgiving in real life...even better yet get a stock Miata and shut all the aids off. Once you get good at it either soup it up a bit or go back to the Nismo. The Miata is one of the most well balanced cars in the world, and excellent to learn in because the power is low enough to keep you out of alot of trouble.

Yeah, it's best to learn in S class tyres even though they're more unrealistic, especially as you have to race most races in them (unless you have a superb handling car).

Overall it's way better, GT3's rally was way too easy, and everyone b!tched about it. Now it actually takes some skill and guess what...everyone's b!tching about it yet again.:)

And you're surprised? :p

But yeah, I actually enjoy the challenge of the rally mode in GT4.

As for force feedback, you can press select + r3 + left paddle to switch it to 60% of its power instead of the 100% default. This time, the left led will blink to let you know you've done right.

This is off-topic, but how many blinks for 60% and 100%? One blink for 60% and two for 100%? (i've read most of the DFP thread and couldn't find anything). TIA.

I've been using THE DFP since GT4P, and I don't have any problems with it.
I would even go as far to say that the DFP is really part of GT4 and I would not play this game without it.

I love how people expect to be rally experts this early on in the game... Rally is the most challenging kind of driving you can do. Learn to walk first before you try running.

Once you've become adept with the DFP, rally isn't really all that hard with it, even in 900° mode with full force feedback. I hated it at first, but now there is nothing better.

Steering wheels are dumb.

You're right, I've had my DFP for a few months now and it's yet to say a single word to me. But after I gave up on talking to it, I plugged it into my PS2 and used it for GT4 and it actually works really well for that. But I can't believe Logitech didn't install a speech feature, you should start a letter writing campaign.

try taking a look at the options menu for once. I Turned power steering assist off and force feedback level to mild, It feels alot less violent and more realistic. I STRONGLY suggest everyone does this!

where do you find the option for force feedback strength, i've been looking since i got it, i don't feel like the feed back is strong enough by default.... i was playing GTR demo before gt4 and the feedback was much stronger on there

May I ask how you steer your car then ?... :odd:

read: Muscle cars don't need to turn :dopey:

I think the wheel is about perfect. Everyone that wants to complain, pay attention in your real car when you take a corner, you are turning alot more than you think. GT4 is NOT a game that you should be able to sit down and complete in a weekend...

I love the DFP it gives a different styles and the feel to GT4. i got the DFP few months too i tried the 900 mode on GT3 it did feel good at all infact its hard to control, after playing in GT4 is waht i expected to do. Now i'm trying to drift with it :)

well, if you compare Rallying in GT4 to Richard Burns Rally, GT4 is a piece of cake. Yeah its more realistic than gt3... but still feels like the cars slide too much. :) Plus a big part of rallying is taking risks on certian turns and jumps, but there's no damage in gt4, so the only risk is losing more time and maybe an eleptic seizure from the screen shaking. But its still fun, just not as fun as RBR. :)

i cant believe people are complaining about the game being too hard :dopey: I'm shocked at the sheer amount of people who find this game hard. I posted a pole asking people to rate the physics and the realism of the cars and tracks overall from 1 to 10.. but my post hasnt been authorized for some reason :nervous:

I haven't had any problems with the rally tracks while using the DFP. And i'm solely using the Sequential shifter while driving so I"m spending quite some time driving one handed.

How are people finding the Driving Force 3 in GT4? Im not going to shell out for a new wheel, since i not long ago bought this one...
I'd prefer 180degree after a while tbh.

whats a driving force 3?
the Driving force pro works very well with the game. if you will look in the official DFP thread or the one about tires you will see more comments.

Havent you searched?

i like using the DFP cause it keeps me awake while doing the endurance races. specially with the shifter is even more fun. i did have problem with shifting, but i figure you need downshift before trning so therefore you can keep two hands on the wheel while turning, then after the turn you car is straight again you can shift up :) I see my friend use the DFP one hand on the shift knob and one hand on the wheel and is really hard to control since is 900.

I saw that video you made of S-16, very nice.👍 I still can't seem to use the stick shift, I'm already too used to using the paddles from GT3.:grumpy: I've been going through a few strange contortions on a couple of the rally tests' hairpins, as you can imagine.  The only time I *have* use the stick is coming out of the super sharp fiinal hairpin at Costa d'amalfi, since you have to turn about 300 degrees or so to make it through there. On exit I just start unwinding the wheel with one hand and grab second with the other.

The biggest difference in rally from GT3 to GT4 is the increased importance of throttle control, IMO. In GT3 no matter how much gas you gave you always seemed to have the same amount of traction. Now if you are spinning your tires coming out of a corner you'll run wide and understeer into the wall. That's probably why alot of people are turning the wheel too much, thinking it will help them make it through the turn when it's actually making it worse.

(Most done in a Mitsubishi Galant VR4 ;) ) I think I've got some of it..
:dopey: good taste! <8- ) that was the first thing i got too. now its fully tuned but i was just racing on normal roads and not doing any rally racing.
i think the wheel is very nice for everything. on ice i got bronze in a couple tries for the Ib licensce (spelling) but that is not exactly good but its acceptable. I did not even let go of the wheel once. i just gave it a nice jolt about 160 degrees :)
p.s. don't be a "baby" with the wheel. you and I paid good money for it, enjoy it 👍

About "R3+select+left paddle" after ive turn it down to (60%) how do i raise it again ? just need to know before i try anything that i dont know how to "reset"

And in prolouge, can you set the DFP wheel from 900->200 ?

Got my wheel yesterday, im new to this wheel :dopey: lol

Don't forget about 200% feedback mode. To enter, you stand up, spin around three times while saying Hail Marys, sit back down and press R3+Select+Right Paddle while pressing the brake pedal, rubbing your belly, and patting the top of your head at the same time. To go back you kick your dog as hard as you can and scream at the top of your lungs, "I HATE FETA CHEESE!!!!" three times.

I change it to 200 degree mode, for Rally.
I didnt have a problem either, using 900 degrees in Prologue Rally, for some reason.
