It surprised me once I did the final GWFoS Challenge. It sound better, though. But it's still a little annoying with headphones on.

If that's an "Updated" sound, as in the sounds we might get in a future update. I'm very pleased. It's so full and rich. And it's cover your ears loud.. I love it.
One of the improved car sounds is in a fictional car  I'm sure though that the sound patch is going to solve 67% of all complaints about GT6.

I'm not that far yet but I'm hearing some great stuff about it. can't wait to try it out

They really did a great job with that sound sample and they need to implement it ASAP to all V12 cars with a race exhaust and to the Ferrari FXX as the only option regarding exhausts!
But again, PD's main problem is that they have absolutely no clue about what they're doing when it comes to assigning sound samples, V8s sound like 3 cylinder engines, I-4s sounding like V-6s and V-6s sounding like V-8s on low RPMs and like vacuum cleaners at high RPMs. They seriously need to get a new person to devote to fixing this, hell I'll do it for free if they want!

Not all of them. ;)

The X1 sounds beautiful now. PD actually recorded the 2013 Renault F1 engine for the sound of the X1. Much better than that ear-piercing synthesized Ferrari F1 engine it had in GT5.

Implementing the X2010's V6 sample on V12 cars would only make that problem worse, wouldn't it?

Where did you get that info?

Normally cars will sound worse when you put a race muffler on it.
With the Shelby GT350 it is not the case though.
It sounded like a small 4 cilinder with a normal exhaust, after I put a race exhaust on it, it almost sounded like a growling V8. :D

Makes you wonder what's the case with the other 1199 cars if they can actually produce decent results by just working on the samples rather than overhauling the engine.

Is there actually an update for sounds coming out? When is it due for release, or doesn't anyone know?

There isn't officialy a patch coming for the sounds. Kaz said they are working on the sound and that it could be updated through a patch. It COULD! It is a standard Kaz-awnser.

I don't think they can redo the entire soundlibrary for cars in an update. Even if they did they still wouldn't please everyone here on the forums. I'm wondering though in order to change the sounds, would the re-record al the sounds of alle the cars? Of course a miata sounds like a miata, so 1 recording is enough for all of the miata's in the game, but how are they going to record a lister storm or the spyker laviolette or even the lamborgini miura?

I believe it is all taken out of context and blown up in terms of expectations.... like so many things here on gt-planet.

True, but many of the cars use the wrong sound samples. Most of the issues can be easily resolved by using current sound samples on the correct cars.
- BMW M3 GT needs to use the sound sample from the GT by Citroen Race Car.
- BMW Z4 GT3, all Ford GT race variants need to use the sound sample from the Lamborgini Diablo GT2.
- SLS AMG GT3, Corvette ZR1 LM, Corvette Z06 LM all need to use the sound sample from the Ford GT Spec II Test Car.
- FXX, Zonda R, McLaren F1 race variants need to use the sound sample from the Red Bull X2011.

And thise are small easilly implemented changes that go a long way towards making the driving a much better experience and fixing PD's sound issues, just like that there's many out there that will benefit from this treatment.

I'm not sure what they Ford GT Spec II sounds like, but I would think the SLS AMG needed to be a deep, grumbly V8 sound and the Corvettes are actually a little higher pitched. I think the Vette's with stock exhaust are fairly close to what they should be. (Unless they changed it for GT6, I haven't driven them yet)

Street Vettes sound like that, the C6.R in both GT1 and GT2 trims are ground pounding deep sounding pure V8 rumbling beasts, so that sound samples fits the LM variants very nicely.

They did not do terribly well with the Ford GT in GT5, Haven't heard it in 6 yet. The GT, IRL, has a very baritone, barky, engine noise. Not quite a screamy as the Ferrari's or other supercars with tuned exhaust. And under hard acceleration, the supercharger starts to scream and howl, drowning out a large part of the engine noise.

My big problem with the sound in this game is the damned tire squeal...it is flat out obnoxious.

Still the same on GT6, the Ford GT actually needs the sound sample that the GT2 Lambo Diablo is using.

Which is similar enough to this where they can get away with using the same sound sample:

Actually the tire sounds I find are fantastic now. Love them.
