Super disappointed that I got the ending where I get blasted in the face. It was so unexpected...typically movies/games don't end with a good guy dying like that, but than again with low honor he's not really a "good" guy. Also mad that the reason why I had low honor in the first place was because I wanted money...something that's NOT EVEN AN ISSUE after Chapter 3 or whenever that Valentine robbery was. And I could just never get my honor back high enough.

I do remember now getting a deer throughout Chapter 1, but didn't really think anything of it, and never really noticed that it changed to a wolf as my honor went down. Also didn't realize that the wolf in the end was eating his body.

I thought that everybody got the ending where he gets blasted in the face in the middle of a thunderstorm...they did do a good job at making it one of the most depressing, dreary endings of a game that I've played. After seeing the good ending with trying to save John, it doesn't happen in a thunderstorm.

Yep, it ends as the sun rises and the sky is clear. :) Very beittersweet moment but clearly one of the best moments in video game history for me.

For me, it wasn't one of the worst endings, but it was definitely one of the most frustrating endings, to see the guy that I played with for so long get shot in the face like that. Probably would feel differently about the game if I had the good ending. Actually kinda mad about it now.

Pretty much how I felt playing John in RDR.

I'm doing the Bandit challenges and it's been fun. I'm on the 7th now.

My honor is almost at 50% and was at 100% when I started. ^^ It won't be as fun to level up my honor again.

I'm not looking forward for the gambler challenges... Blackjack is the first one and I have no idea how to play it. Boring. I didn't spend any of my play time with the mini games.

Thankfully the game gives you the option to view the tutorials for each mini game (or at least the gambling ones) each time you play

Pretty easy really. Get closer to 21 than the other guy without going over. At about 16+ don't hit.

I finished Chapter 6 and it was fantastic. Making my way through the Epilogue now then I will go for 100%.
The soundtrack once again is excellent and always sets the tone perfectly.

The herbalist challenge is booooring... I've always collected plants and herbs when I'd bump into them. Now I get to the herbalist challenge #9 and I have to do what? Collect 1 of every plant in the world (43)... and it doesn't count the ones I have in my satchel already...

:banghead:

We had to do the same thing in RDR.

Look at it this way, it’s a nice excuse to go for a tour on your horse.

Well, yeah, but I've been everywhere already and I think I've picked all types of hebs before. :/

Talking about touring on my horse, I hope R* changes the riding controls. Tapping X non-stop is not healthy (and yep, I use the cinematic way more often than not because of it, which means I have no control over the character and have to watch a screen over and over). I've had a tendinitis on my right thumb while playing Bloodborne and I feel unconfortable after half an hour playing the game, riding my horse around the map. We should be able to tap up to max speed and let the horse go on his own, controling only the direction he's going. If riding was only an sporadic activity I'd be OK with it, but it's probable the thing we spend most of our time doing ingame.

How hard are you mashing the X button??

Just tapping to go max speed. The issue is the repetitiveness of the action, not really how hard I do it. That's what gives people tendinitis in the first place AFAIK. And if you had one already, it's easier to get it again.

Point being, the control makes no sense. Imagine in GTA or GTS, having to tap the accelerator instead of just pushing it down once...

With running, we can at least go to the settings and change to "hold" to run.

Fair enough. Personally I get horrible tendonitis in my left hand/wrist from rock climbing, I don't find it's a repetitive action that does it, more anything where there's force behind it. RSI can be a problem, IDK if that's the same as tendonitis.

Maybe it's RSI. In Portuguese we call it another type of tendinitis. It sucks. ^^

Just wait until you guys are old enough to experience Arthritis :ouch:

You might escape it but if it runs in your family like mine, it's only a matter of time.

A very impressive looking game, gorgeous graphics but a ‘meh’ storyline and clunky controls. Also not enough rootin tootin wild west desert for me.

I was thinking I would have liked a storyline following Sadie. A story of revenge and redemption.

Her husband murdered by the O'driscoll gang and adopted to a familial gang of outlaws and gradually transitioning into a badass gunslinger. She goes on a rampage of death and rampage. But she realises that revenge does not give satisfaction and was not in the spirit of her goodhearted murdered husband. And then perhaps an ending where she challenges the leader of the gang because of questionable morality or dirty dealings, takes over and changes it into a community and finally settling and finding a new town (calling it jaketown after her husband) in the wild west. Completing her redemption.

The game surely leaves an open door for a future game or DLC with Sadie.

On your idea though, the O'driscoll's gang leader is killed in RDR2. ^^

A spinoff DLC would be great. But looking at Rockstar's record they will focus on online from now on. I really liked Sadies's character growth.

From damsel in distress to a total badass. She eclipses both John and Arthur in skill

Not sure about John because I didn't play the first game but I don't think she eclipses Arthur. She has nothing to lose and only fights for revenge and because she grew to enjoy the killing. That's badass in a way but not as appealing to me tbh. Arthur does everything Sadie does but is confined to the limits and rules within the gang and his own internal struggles and doubts. I have no doubt in my mind he's more skilled than Sadie. Afterall he has 20 years of experience as an outlaw and is the go-to guy to do the hard and dirty work for the gang. One of the first lines in the game by Dutch is saying the "boat" job went to **** because Arthur wasn't there.

When you have missions with Sadie, she trusts her life to Arthur because she believes he's more skilled either with the sniper rifle or just covering her back (and John's) when they go to rescue John from prison.

I don't see Sadie getting involved in fist fights as Arthur was. But I see Arthur doing eveything Sadie does.

Well she is deadly with a knife and beats people in hand to hand combat without batting an eyelid in multiple ocassions. In the end she almost singlehandedly defeats the rest of the O'driscolls. Also you might have missed that she did all the planning and effort into rescuing John, when Dutch failed to do so. Arranging the balloon, boat etc.

Sure. But IMO everything is pushed a bit too much to be almost unbelievable. She couldn't kill or injure a single O'Driscoll to defend her husband, but suddenly she has the skill to be a badass with a knife or with a pistol. I find Charles way more of a badass (probably more than Arthur even) than anyone else tbh.

Also Sadie had freedom to do whatever she wanted because she was not a gang member as others were and, as she said, she didn't care about the gang rules and only trusted Arthur. That's why she could plan the rescue mission. Arthur was still holding on to whatever Dutch was saying.

I'm not saying Sadie isn't a badass. She is and she's smart too. I simply disagree with her eclipsing Arthur and being more skilled than everyone else.

You forgot there are significant timejumps between Chapters. I am at the last mission of Chapter 6, so i will come back to this at a later date.

I know several years go by from 1899 until the end of Chapter 6. But Sadie, AFAIK, never enters the main quests with the gang where you kill dozens of enemies, where she should improve her shooting and fighting skills, like every other character. When you go with Sadie, she's suddenly a badass without we ever getting to see how she got to that point.

Bounty hunting doesn't seem like a good explanation because they're easy to catch, compared to the enemies you get in the main story line.

I have to just believe she got her skills from "on high". It's something games do and I'm OK with it but doesn't give too much credibility to the claim that she's the badass of the game.

If you're finishing Chapter 6 you might still change your mind because stuff happens with John and Sadie that kinda proves my point.

Enjoy the game!

I'm getting pissed with the herbalist challenge. I have to pick 43 plants and herbs (1 of each), but there's no checklist in the quest menu.

I've already d upon 2 rare types of orchid and I can't find any. I've picked them before this challenge and it seems there's a limited number. I've been to every location where they grow and all locations are empty of plants.

I spent around 1h going around the map, following the guide, and didn't find a single sparrows egg plant.

Stupid thing is, I have 9 on my satchel...

Seriously, this challenge is simply dumb and pointless.

I grew to really like Charles towards the end. He's just such a good, well rounded character. At the beginning he seemed young and inexperienced, but towards the end he definitely knew what he wanted to do, who he wanted to help, and how he wanted to do it. He more than anybody else in the gang got his priorities straight.

I do agree with you about Sadie though. She magically goes from "housewife" to "experienced frontierswoman" in a matter of a few months. That being said though, we don't know how skilled she was before hand. And a sneak attack by a bunch of O'Driscolls will surely subdue any NPC.
