Though I won't be "turning off" GTPlanet on the 18th, I am considering other ways of expressing my opposition.
I have an idea. How bout we change all the smilies to the censored smiley. But instead of the bar across the mouth saying "censored", it says "SOPA".
You could make the pages of the forum black to show your support for the Anti-SOPA websites.
Oh lordy. I hope this doesn't involve flying a plane through a government building/murder suicide or something like that.
EDIT:
I was making an allusion to the small plane flown into the IRS some time ago, I completely forgot about 9/11. I meant no disrespect of course.
What's the difference between this and turning off GTPlanet?![]()
I doubt they will lose money, lots of extra income from less piracy will outweigh any money lost from closing a few mostly non profit websites.SOPA will die if it passes.
It will effect the economy and the government will have no choice but to remove it.
I'm very much aware of and concerned about SOPA, and I strongly support the sites which are "going black" to raise awareness about the issue. There are severe consequences for GTPlanet and sites like it if the bill was to pass.

Wikipedia has now decided to join the protest, definitely the biggest player to show their support so far, I'm sure if Facebook did it boy that would get attention!

I think turning all avatars to a anti SOPA image might be cool, everyone sees it and it's annoying enough for people to want to know more about but also it's not going to hamper anybody's ability to use the site.
Didn't Obama just say he doesn't support it or something? I'm pretty sure he opposes it.
Been doing a lot of stuff against this on sites like 4chan, 9gag and Funnyjunk......
Funnyjunk is sadly a very good reason to support SOPA, because they remove the copryrights of others' work and put their own logo on images, which isn't remotely funny nor respectful at all. We're not only talking about large publishing houses or media conglomerates, these are mostly independent blog/comics that make just some spare change on the side, while Funnyjunk rakes in ad revenue by sheer theft.
Anyhow, that's my two cents on that matter...
