I'm going to go one step furthur then keeping it in the same class, and just replace cars with alternate versions of themselves. :D

Replace
Nissan Skyline GT-R MNPII (R34)
with
Nissan Skyline GT-R 4door by Nismo (R33)

Nissan Silvia Varietta (S15)
with
Nissan Silvia (S12)

'70 Toyota Celica (TA22)
with
'70 Toyota Celica (RA22)

Suzuki Escudo (Dirt Trial)
with
Suzuki Escudo (Pike's Peak version)

Volkswagen New Beetle 2
with
Volkswagen Beetle 1400

That's all I can think of for now. :D
I agree with most of the picks especially the S12 for the Varietta! Looks so much nicer!(this is coming from someone who loves square 80's (JDM's).

Id replace the Caterham with the Radical SR3 turbo

New nurburgring king? YOU BET!

slowman
Get rid of M3 GTR Street Version-> Replace with '91 E30 M3 2.5 Sport Evo

Helluva lot more RAW!

You got my vote 👍 👍

Replace the Lexus GS300 "Vertex Edition" (there's already a 2nd-gen GS300 in the game that's statistically identical)...with a real-life Lexus GS430; the car's there, and the engine is there for the "swapping" from the SC430.

Replace the '89 Nissan Pao with a '91 Nissan Sentra SE-R.

Replace one of the redundant used-1990s Civic hatches with the most ubiquitous of American-market Honda cars, a Civic coupe.

Replace one of the M3's with an M1, now that the "export ban" on Bavarian M-cars has been lifted from Gran Turismo World.

Replace the Citroen C2 with the '90s Citroen Saxo.

Replace one of the '69 Camaros with the real '76 Camaro LM edition. :)

69 Camaro Z/28 --> COPO 427 Camaro or Yenko Camaro

64 Pontiac GTO --> 67 Pontiac GTO

Dodge Ram --> Dodge Ram Rumble Bee or Ram SRT-10 (Thanx to GT40 MKII for pointing out the oversight)

69 350 Corvette --> 69 L-88 Corvette

53-54 Corvette --> 57 Corvette (283 Fuel Injection)

I agree that the 1500 Laramie quad cab was a really poor choice, but I don't think the Rumble Bee is much better. Firstly, I believe it's mostly just an apperance package; and secondly I don't believe it was even in production when the game was made.
The only logical replacement is the SRT-10. After all, every other truck in the game* is the sports model. Tacoma X-Runner, F150 Lightning, Silverado SST. Bizzare choice of models.
Which reminds me:
Eagle Talon Esi
with
Eagle Talon TSi

Mitsubishi Eclipse GT
with
Mitsubishi Eclipse ___
What's the 4WD version called again?

It's unfathomable why they would choose the FF versions.

*well, with the exception of the Daihatsu Midgets. *cough**ahem*

4WD turbo was the GST

1988 Camaro IROC-Z Concept---->1992 Camaro IROC-Z

1970 Toyota 7 with the 1974 Porche 917K from CAN-AM with 1000HP!!!

The 4wd turbo version of the eclipse was the GSX, not the GST(which was the FF drive turbo version) as stated by fire emblem.
Just wanted to get the info straight and oh....

how about the mini marcos replaced by the marcos LM racecar, i think the LM600, correct me if I'm wrong.
Or just accidentally make the mini marcos FR. Now that would have a been a blast to drive.

-IROC Camaro concept
+1989 5.0 Mustang

Here is a nice one, Take out the Jaguar XJ220 LM Race Car and replace it with......Aston Martin DBR9 Race Car, beautiful....

How about replace the R89C with the 1989 Aston Martin AMR1, I saw that car and I bet since it is an Aston Martin, it has a lot of HP

more HP just means more stops in the pits, and more bouncing off walls....

R92CP - Vaillante Le Mans 1992 or the Toyota 92C-V (KITZ Racing Team With Sard) version or the Trust Racing Version

Bentley Speed 8 - Panoz LMP, or Cadilac LMP, or NEW Pescarolo LMP, a car probably not heard of by many, the Dome S101

Audi R8 - Playstation Audi or ADT Audi

Corvette C5R - Corvette C6R

Not if you know how to drive, then it is depending on the person and I meant more HP because it can then do better on the 24 hours and maybe win it facing the faster cars, and more hp does not mean more wrecks all the time, if you know how to drive the car then there will be no wrecks and if you can drive correctly you won't burn the tires up as quick as you suspect plus it would have more horsepower than the stock version of it, not like 1000 maybe around 600 or 700 like normal Le Mans cars.

I would suspect that the same driver will have more off track excursions, and more tyre wear, in a more powerful car than in a less powerful one. More power means more performance means more stress on the tyres if other variables (eg the driver) are factored out. Also, if the more powerful car is harder to control (which is usually but not neccessarily always the case) then statistically the chances of a crash must be greater. Think back to Ayrton Senna's three races in the ill handling 1994 Williams F1 car. He spun out on all three. Never finished a race in that car, and eventually died trying. I wouldn't say that was through lack of driving knowledge, but you never know I suppose.

As for the car swap, I'd swap:
Jag XJR-9 for the XJR-14
AM Vantage ('99) for any of the Vantages not based on the Virage
Alfa Romeo Duetto Spider for a square tail '70s Alfa Romeo Spider with the 2 litre engine, just so that there is a bit more variety in the Alfas offered.
Alfa GTV, 147GTA or GT (one of the 3.2 litre cars) for an '80s Alfetta GTV6
2/3rds of the Skylines, Imprezas etc for some European metal more familiar to my European upbringing.
All the VWs for a cold beer.:sly:

EDIT: Oh yeah, and the McLaren F1 GT car for the original road car, though saying that, the Tommy Kaira ZZII seems to fill that space quite well on performance and size, and even looks vaguely similar, but just a little bit.

The word from someone who owns a 917/30 - the 917K is the Le Mans race car! - is that is will kick out around 1500bhp on a good day. And not just for qualifying :crazy:

Chrysler 300C --> Cadillac STS V8 ;)
Chevrolet SST Concept --> GMC Syclone
Toyota MTRC --> Ariel Atom
Chevrolet SSR --> Any year El Camino :)
Ford Taurus SHO --> 1st Generation Lightning

VW New Beetle - VW Corrado VR6
VW Golf R32 (regular, not HPA) - Audi S2 Coupe Quattro
Honda Today - Fiat 126p (just for laugh)
Acura CL - Honda Mugen Legend
The newer Acura RL - Honda Mugen Legend M1
Audi RS6 - ABT AS6

It put out up to 1500HP!!!THAT IS SO COOL,i like Porches.
