It's a puddytat. I caned the hell out of the one I drove (okay, it was at Thruxton race circuit) and it never felt like giving up in a nasty way. Awesome fun.

How'd the brakes hold up? Another thing I've heard from a first-hand source is brake fade is pretty rampant.

-> Didn't I requested for more pics? Well looks like I will show more of these ooglage.

-> Since the pics are too huge to post it here in GTP, I provided the link HERE.

^ It looks nice 'n clean, I like it. :)

If you did, I apologize as I would have posted them. However, every source has the same 5 pictures, and apparently, each one of them has decided to slap their own watermark on it. 👎

They can be compared?

Kinda?

I guess I don't think the SLK55 is much of an R8 competitor... Add to that the $50K (or is it more now?) difference between the Audi an the SL...

R8 might get a V8 TDI no V12, but it will most likely get the RS6's engine oh and there are rumours of lightweight track editions for the R8 aswell.

"Lightweight" must equal losing 100 lbs or something?

If the R8 gets a more powerful engine, it sure as hell won't be a turbocharged version of what its brother has. I'm thinking the V10 TDI, personally.

I have been waiting for a Murc SV for quite a while now...
The Murc amuses me greatly, almost as much as the Diablo :p

Audi's view is that their most powerful engine ever should also feature in their most sporty car, and not just in a estate and saloon. Very high chance of seeing a 580hp R8.

i dont get tittle. why are you praying for a car with less traction?

Its what many people wished for from Lamborghini. A RWD Murcielargo with an ample amount of power. Pretty much the same reason a person would own a Merc AMG C63. :scared: Apparently, many has said the 4WD system on a Lamborghini made it "too easy" to handle....

Exactly. The "blame" for people's hopes can be put on the R-GT.

I don't think it'll be a problem for Lamborghini to put all of that power to the ground. TCS, wide rear tires, etc. It'll be a piece of cake for them.

Because this is the first Lambo that has not had any RWD version in its lifespan. And depending on what conclusions you draw from road tests of the car, it suffers because of it. For roughly the same reason that people whine about AWD 911s, too.

I did some snooping, and it seems you are right. It amazes me how many cars Audi feels the need to have that compete with each other in its empire. It is just stupid, especially considering the R8 is already a better car than the Gallardo in every way with the lower power engine.

I don't recall the R8 outperforming the Gallardo in every way, especially not the Superleggera or LP560-4...

heh. isnt that a good thing if youre going to driving it in the wet?

"Ample"? The LP's already got 630!

I think it's just the fact people want a more "pure" car, and RWD just does that better than 4WD.

Es - I don't think people will be concerned about wet-weather performance for this. It's all about track-times, as far as I'd care anyways.

So you'll be buying something cheap and Chinese to replace the Jetta then?

Only thing better is an Italian car made with wood glue, having bottle caps for brakes, and an electrical system that somehow is attached to your genitals.

But, at least they have "soul"

That, and the car would be far lighter, to boot. Lighter=faster.
Removing the 4WD system doesn't make the car any lighter. Sure its lighter in a sense, but you chuck out all the luxuries, replace the windows to something lighter, have some carbon body kits/ parts, put a roll cage and you have a lightweight supercar
. 👍

Don't ask me, I'm not the one who's gonna buy these cars..... :p

Well I don't know if I word it properly or that I have a bad English vocabulary, its just that 700 isn't like what they used to be. Sure you'd think its all powerful like, but so many road cars nowadays could achieve that horsepower with some force induction.... (just ask the Germans) and supercar makers like Koenigsegg, Bugatti and the SCC could achieve 1000+HP....

I don't either. Especially considering that the Gallardo is more powerful than the R8.

The R8 was a superior handler pre facelift gallardo. Now the gallardo has got the same suspension as the R8 its once again the better car. Things might change when the hyper R8 arrives though.

You realize that its an Audi, right?

The boys from Zuffenhausen will always be happy to teach the Italians and the other Germans how to build a proper sports car. Much less those pesky folk from Modena (The other ones. No, the other, other one. The ones with the horse) too...

"Hyper-R8," it just makes me giggle...

Prayers answered? I'd say it was a pretty good performer to be mid/4WD. An advantage to RWD is lower weight. So (and I'm going on the link from Page 1, Post #1) I think this is going to be a fresh package that will still result in a lustful superexotic. The rear spoiler is okay to me. I would have been a bit happier if it was an adjustable GT spoiler. Then again, I remember the classic Lamborghini Diablo of the 1990s with its spoiler. An absolute wet dream would be if this Murciélago inspires the return of the Lamborghini Supertrophy... only with these Murciélagos. All in all, I've never hated the Murciélago. It's a sweet Italian exotic from a company other than Ferrari. I approve this car to the tune of 100%.

Being a "better car in every way" doesn't mean it outperforms it (though in some cases it does). It means it is a better put together, more reliable, easier to use, better handling, more soulful, and etc. car. The R8 is the arguable standard bearer for the class it is in (911 Carrera competitor). The Gallardo was in something like last place before the redesign.
