Yeah, I think I'm already planning on running in that with Greg Hall from CMS.

Any of you guys planning on taking part in the new CMS series with the Nissan 370Zs?

I am definitely interested. I'm not sure when registration starts.

Please, elaborate, I'm genuinely interested. Beyond what has been discussed in this thread I don't know what improvements have been made because ISI have made very little effort to communicate anything so far, so the list - as far as I can tell - goes:

- Improved tyre model
- Improved force feedback
- Built-in mod manager
- Licensed content
- Dynamic weather
- Dynamic track conditions (which I assume is stuff like rubbering in, debris and such?)

Not really £45 + sub/£80 worth of stuff so far, seeing as everyone has dynamic weather and licensed content, RealFeel and other FFB mods improved on rFactor years ago anyway and if you want to pay a subscription fee for a mod manager for rFactor, you can do that already. So really that cuts it down to the tyre model and track conditions, but even then, we don't know if it'll be better than Project CARS or Assetto Corsa's release-quality tyre model, or if either will have dynamic track conditions. In fact pCARS already has simulation of marbles, so that's something.

RealRoad is a dynamically changing track condition that is generated and changed by the actions of the cars on the track. You can save a realroad file (it's a .rrbin file) and load up a realroad made at an earlier time and start a server with a realroad already made so you don't have to rubber int he track every time).

RR includes not only rubber build up and marbles, but also track temp (it is dynamic and when fully implemented will change with parts of the track in shadow and in the sun) and the drying line. The rubber build up is truly dynamic, it is generated by YOU driving on the road, it is not pre-selected or static. You can drive a really goofy line (alone and a lot of times) and the rubbered-in line will be whatever goofy line you drove.

saving a .rrbin opens up some interesting possibilities. Use GT AI to rubber in a track then put formula cars on the track to simulate a GT support series before the main event. You have to adjust your driving to accommodate the different line the GTs create. Or use FWD touring cars to create the rubber for the feature open wheeled race coming up. You can use the RR file to create scenarios.

This and the better tire model are enough to make rF2 a completely new and most advanced sim yet. I know I sound like a company tool or whatever, but I really do believe in rF2 as being the ultimate sim. I'm not a graphics whore and TBH I could care less what the game looks like. When I get behind the wheel and enter that zone, all that crap fades away and nothing puts me in the game more than driving a dynamic, changing car.

Awesome post guybo:tup:

There are videos illustrating some of the features you mention. On the other hand, I understand the criticism and disappointment from some. The thing is ISI is not very good at communicating or at marketing. It is too premature to release a demo in my opinion, people will experience an unfinished product that doesn't run smoothly.

Just as rFactor (1), rFactor 2 will get polished, the horrible UI is likely to stay :/ The modders will come with loads of quality content. Those constantly looking for proper SIM's will become fans for the long haul. Those focused on cost don't understand this is not a game you get bored with after a few months, this is a SIM that will evolve and have improving content for years to come. I did not hesitate to get the lifetime membership, once finished rF2 is likely going to be my only SIM (though I'm hoping AC will be as good).

I must admit the slow development and little content are very frustrating at the moment.

PS; I'm not sure if this video from Virtua_LM has been posted. Best viewed in 1080:

The glacial pace of development has me frustrated as well. Mods are trickling out (they are of varying quality) and leagues are slowly matriculating over to rF2, but none of it is happening at a good pace. IMHO ISI bit off more than they could chew and don't have the man power to keep to any sort of schedule.

No one will argue about the graphics in rF2, although sometimes they do nail it and you get WOW moments. She ain't the prettiest girl at the dance, but she dances better than any of the rest. As for the horrible frame rates- I think that will improve in time, it has already come a long way. It all comes back to ISI not having enough people working on this project.

As for interesting upcoming events,

Errr, I put EST, I meant EDT....

Noon Eastern Whatever time. GMT -4 (I always know GMT, but I can never remember EST or EDT)

The well-known team Apex Modding has decided to stop the development of its FIA GT3 Mod for rFactor2, essentially because not satisfied in the current state of progress of the simulator made in ISI, especially regarding the physics, tyres in particular. It also seems even cosm1 has abandoned the creation of his Ferrari 458 Italia, for various problems with the software. In any case we hope to not permanently loose such interesting mods ...
Indeed, for the moment, all the members of the apex team are not convinced at all by rfactor 2. Moreover, other GT3 mods (copies of official game) have been released for rf1 since the release of our mod (unfortunately we planned to work on an evolution for rf1) and no doubt that it will be the case for rf2. We still check all the release of rf2 because we hope that the current gap will be solved by isi. IMHO, isi is not focused enough on modding issues, especially for the physics design (my role in apex team) and more precisely for the tire design. I hoped before rf2 release that isi will gave real design tools for the physic, on tire and also on suspension. But i think now that is over. Actually, months ago, I had the occasion to explain my position about tire design issues...

Very disappointing. However it sounds like they are flexing muscle due to slow progress. ISI will deliver, slower than most would like though. AC is an unknown in terms of a finished product ; where else are modders going to go?

A member of Apex released this, but others are still working on rF2 from what I understand. But this is a non-issue since Apex has released exactly squat to date for rF2. If they are going to rely on AC as a modding platform, they are fools IMHO because that is an unknown quantity in an even earlier state than rF2. The AC site looks great and they have a great presentation but have delivered very little.

Some modders and modding groups will fall by the wayside, unfortunately. rF2 will require changes to modding groups especially in the area of tires. Groups will require graphics people & physics people just like modding does in any other game, but groups will also have to add tire people which is something hard to wrap the brain around.

This is a non-issue because of PetraGTC's BES mod anyway. She has actually delivered and her stuff has been great.

Some modders are keep modding rFactor, GTR2, Race 07 (there's a very good looking 1978 F1 mod on Driving Italia)
some like Apex are waiting ISI to come up with a mod friendly product,
soome went payware,
some are 3d modelling for other platforms (SuperGT mod by shadow explorer and the guys of GTR2 SuperGT mod planned for Assetto Corsa, no they are not fools, maybe someone else is)
some just quit modding.

... the ones that stay will probably deliver great mods, the ones that leave will be replaced by new ones. I am personally cheering for AC to be all we hope and more, I am sure rF2 will deliver on our expectations. Two, or more, are better than one (PCARS has potential), let's stay positive and patient.

Am I wrong or ISI will be delivering a tire set model for modders?

Those are great announcements and it's fantastic that they are so far along that they are holding the contest!
