Welcome to the Chevrolet Corvette RM Z06 Series presented by Mobil 1:
0YY6v.png

We are using the weak slip stream option FOR ALL TIME!

See post #3 for results & rules
Based off the success of the IS-F Cup, WSGTC, IWC, and the Elise 111R Championship,
this new Championship will feature the 2006 race modified Chevy Corvette Z06.
This series will strive to maintain specifications as close to, or in some instances exactly,
its real life Pratt & Miller Racing machine counter-part as we can.
The 2006 P&M C6.R Corvette produced 590hp at the crank and weighed 1100kg.

The maximum PP rating for the Z06 RM at our spec, with full down force, is 631PP.
Fully broken in LS7.R engine @ 200 miles will make 587HP after applying the specific
tuning upgrades necessary to run in the series.

The race room will be set to a horsepower and weight limit of 591hp - 1090kg.

Limited to a full lobby of 14 drivers only.
A, week long, pre-race sole qualifier event (See third post)
will sort the field down to our final 14 contenders for that week's race.
If you are interested in signing up;
please note that you have to be committed to running the entire
series to the best of your ability or you should look elsewhere.

  • Grid size: this series only allows up to 14 top qualifiers to race. This is to reduce the chance of bad lag and connections present in the game from hampering drivers' enjoyment.

Car Specifications:
Here are the items that will need to be purchased to compete in this series. Some of these are included with the RM package:
  • Z06 (Premium)
  • Oil Change
  • Racing Modification (Purchase First)
  • Adjustable LSD
  • ECU
  • Racing Hard Tires
  • Chassis Reinforcement (optional)
Note that if it's not listen here or did not come with the Race Modification it's ILLEGAL. You WILL be disqualified and the disqualification will be posted publicly so please, don't. Also, you should buy a whole new car if you already have the Z06 RM because you can not take parts off, it must be purchased and upgraded exactly as listed in the car spec's. Exploiters of this spec. will be caught and disqualified.

So in order to be eligible for these prizes you must first be willing to have them shipped to you. You do not need to be located in the United States to be eligible for prizes. If you're uncomfortable giving out an address you can rest assured that most FedEx, UPS, DHL and USPS shipping facilities include the option of having them hold the item at any one of their sorting or sales centers. A home address or further registration is
not necessary to win the prizes mentioned herein. A personal name is not necessary unless you're having the shipping company hold your prize at their facilities in which then you must show identification belonging to the name on the box in order to successfully receive the shipped package from their offices.
Shipping and handling will be paid for by myself, no fees or taxes will be burdened on the prize winners.
Prizes are shipped as is, no receipts will be sent along with the prizes. Return shipments will not be excepted. Forfeited prizes (due to not being able to contact the winner or them being uncooperative) will instead be awarded to the next person in the championship standings. Prizes will be shipped from one week after the end of the series at the earliest. No package will be guaranteed on arrival, include optional tracking information. Once it leaves my hands it's in the responsibility of the shipper. If a prize is lost during shipment I will not ship a consolidation.

Qualifying registry link:

Qualifying rules:
2 Lap Live Exhibition Qualifying:
Drivers only have one attempt at setting their fastest lap so choose the time you qualify carefully. Any laps or sessions disrupted by disconnections or network failures will not be counted what so ever. Even if you just crossed the line on your second flying lap.
Procedure: A capable host will open a qualifying room.
When the qualifying room is ready to start a session we will let one or two (depending on room size) chosen drivers go out one at a time (to give eachother room). When the qualifying session begins on track, one driver will be chosen to start their out lap first and the second driver will be told to hold on the line for 20 seconds until they can start.
All other visitors in the room will be watching the driver(s) to make sure their laps are clean.
The room will be set to a 4 lap race. Only laps 2 and 3 will count as qualifying "flying lap" times.
The driver's fastest lap will set their qualification. Your official valid time will then be put up on a Google Doc's spreadsheet containing all times for the week. Your time will be sorted among the other competitor's through out the qualifying week up to deadline.
A link to the sheet "qualifying registry" will be posted here shortly for you to bookmark. The easy to remembery bitly link will be: (http://bit.ly/z06gpqualifying).

Qualification will be floating format: You can choose to qualify during any time of the week after the prior race (Sunday night) up to thirty minutes before the race room opens @ 6:30.
Qualifying will always be done with limited damage and on the dry standard versions of tracks we visit that feature rain, weather is only for the race.
Since most of the drivers on GTP are now very familiar with our chosen qualifying format I'm allowing anyone that I deem qualified enough to hold qualifying sessions. These people will be called "Capable Hosts". They will set up the rooms properly, set your session on, save the replay and submit the time to our qualification time spreadsheet.
It's a very liberal system that takes the stress off of people needing to wait for the head of the series to be around. I will not allow new drivers I don't know or people who aren't trustworthy to be capable hosts. The list will be kept at the top of the OP under the "Race stewards" title.
Any capable host can note the time and post the official ranking in the thread.

================================================================================================================
As posted in WSGTC and to give another take on this style of qualifying for people to read over as a sort of FAQ resonse.
  • A driver, or drivers, will be given 2 flying laps to set a qualifying lap. The race will be set to 4 laps; 1 outlap, 2 flying laps,
1 "cool down" (If more than 1 driver are qualifying, we need the 4th lap to not put any stress on the last driver in the pack since he
technically could be more than 180 seconds behind the first car, depending on how many cars are in the session at the same time).
  • Laps will be run in 'Race' online modeand will depend on track size (Standard=2 laps).
  • The number of cars allowed to run in each session will depend on track length.
  • Once the race has been started by the host, cars will roll on their warm up lap.
  • Drivers must leave gaps between each other to allow sufficient space (around 20-30 seconds).
  • The standard '2 wheel on track at all times' rule will apply
  • Once finished, spectators will declare if their assigned driver ran a clean or dirty lap.
  • If a protest arises over a doubtful or dirty lap, the replay will always be saved by the host and checked by the stewards.
  • If confirmed dirty, a timed penalty will be imposed depending on the severity of the offense (Standard 5 seconds).
  • The process will be until all drivers that are confirmed for the race have qualified.
  • All drivers must stay on track after their third lap until the CH has confirmed that the times have been collected. Then you may exit the track as they say so.
  • For the Longer circuits, the procedure will be the same as for the "normal" quali, with the exeption that you'll only get 1 lap to
set your time, and the "Startline" will be from sector 2 at La Sarthe.
  1. If a driver runs into ANY trouble during an official qualifying session, the session can under no circumstance restart. Unless: Someting happens
during the outlap, and you're the only car on track, the session can restart as long as the timer for the first flying lap has not been activated.
  2. A driver may not leave the track and back out to the lobby until the observer confirms his time by entering it in the lobby chat. Only until then can you leave the track. Even though you've left before you've technically completed the "4 lap race" we are still able to save replays. If for some reason your lap was questionable and the replay was also not saved for review both you and the observer will face penalties in the following race. This is a co-operative qualifying format made for consistency.
  3. If a driver disconnects during a session, he may reconnect and drive up to that at which he got DC'd. If the DC occurs while on the 1st (2nd lap)
qualy-lap, he may restart and this time ONLY his 2nd (3rd lap) qualy-lap will be valid. The lap where the driver got DC'd counts as "dirty" with
    no registered lap-time.
  4. If the car that DC's has any form of damage, but still are able to reconnect and restart his session, that drivers must damage his car to the
same grade of damage that the car had just before he got DC'd.
  5. If one of the driver's quali. laps are "dirty" there are 2 scenarios:
    a. If a lap time beyond any doubt was slower due to an "off track/dirty" situation, no penalty is given and the lap-time stays.
    b. If a lap time could have gained any time what so ever due to an "off track/dirty" situation, a penalty of 5 seconds will be applied to the lap-time.
    c. If the lap time that had the 5 seconds docked on for a bad lap is still faster than the other flying lap of the driver the slower, non-exploitative, lap will always be taken.

================================================================================================================

Look in this thread [post #3] to find your position after your run.

Qualifying results:

Gridding procedure:

We're taking a simple approach to making sure our race is gridded up properly according to recorded qualifying rankings.
We all line up on a chosen straight of the track in order of our qualifying position.
We set the room to grid drivers according to the "fastest first" option.
If we start the race where everyone is parked in line in qualifying order it will put us in that order for the race start.
Points system:
ijqsGu.jpg

1 point for fastest lap - 1 point for pole position - 5 race finish bonus points are awarded to any driver that completes at least 75% of the race distance.
Disregard places 15 & 16.

Looks very interesting. I'll have to looks if I have the time. 👍

Thinking I might be able to compete in this. 7PM EST might be a hair too early on a weekday even for folks in central time zone.

Thanks for the interest. Times are still in the air. Might go an hour later to accomodate more people but that's my personal limit as I have to leave for work @ 9:30 EST (I'd be taking the day off for the Sarthe enduro race.)

Yeah but I just realized that the old Spec Miata slot's open till October so why not use it?

I've been lurking for a while wanting to get involved in ... SOMETHING. I honestly have about 0 miles in a ZR-1 RM... but your track selection IMHO is brilliant... I think this would be a perfect series to jump into..

Great man! I appreciate what you said about the track choice. I put a lot of thought into it. I'll soon be putting up that Toscana track "Spada" for anyone to check out. Feedback'll definitely be taken into account in possibly tweaking in the weeks leading up to its maiden race.

The Sarthe race will be 2.4 hours long... should be epic.

Yeah just go ahead and B-spec it to get it up to 200 miles quickly. Do like the wind Indy 4 times, should be done quick.

ZR-1 (Premium)
Oil Change
Racing Modification (Purchase First)
Semi-racing Exhaust
Sport Catalytic Converter

Once Rm'd, it can only use Titanium racing exhaust, unless the new bug got this one too.
Looks good, count me in.
Same name/PSN.

7:00PM Sunday night couldn't be more perfect for me.

I'm willing if my connection will allow it without collapsing. I filled out your entry form and would like to race. Also I was wondering why the OP says that the races will be held on a Sun. and the race dates reflect Wed.

Same happened to me, later in the day I accidentally clicked on the titanium racing exhaust that apparently tho comes stock, is not installed on it. Can't take it off once it is on, can we get a clarification on this?

Yeah it was always meant to be titanium full race exhaust. I copied the car spec's from a previous series of mine edited it correctly, then copied over with the old spec's again xD.

I'll fix it in a few. Thanks for pointing it out guys.

I noticed two things here, so I actually signed up now
And I did see talk of Wednesday's, has it been changed to Wednesday's?

7 pm EST is what 4pm PST? It could be a little bit of an issue if I'm making bukz on those days but I'll try to schedule around it though.

Nah it's definitely going to be Sundays. And yes it's Sundays 7PM EDT and 4PM PDT.

Okay, well I registered, though I don't think I'll do very well.

I would have liked Wednesdays better, but Sundays at 7 work fine, too. The way I'm planning the Integras right now, it'll be at 4.

No TCS? Great, another series where wheelspin is abundant- especially for DS3 users on race HARD tires? Maybe you could allow TCS @1?

Actually you'd still suffer as much on softs. The wheel spin isn't reduced with a grippier tire, your loss of grip's just masked by the higher stability. Working with racind hards actually increases your ability to sense wheel spin because you'll be twitching all over the place unless you use proper throttle control. So in fact it will train you, albeit the "harder" (while I'd call it the faster) way, to lay down the power more efficiently.

Ibest part is that when you do go back to softs you'll feel like you're wading through tires made of cotton candy after you stay on hards for a while. You'll have awesome power control, you'll gain random European friends, and most importantly, you'll be thanking me.

Racing hards? More like racing BAMFs.

Wheel spin can be minimized if you set your gearing properly.

If you're still having trouble, then it's honestly up to you to learn better throttle control. Just do what I do; play around with a Nascar. If you have good throttle control with one of those beats, you should have good throttle control with anything.

EDIT: tree'd

Ok guys. After trying to tune the car on Suzuka I became a dis-believer. Compared to the Z06 RM the ZR-1 is much too powerful for its weight and tires that I'm going with. It also sounds crappy.

So we're going with the Z06 instead. Not too major of a change. I hope no one was too attached to it. The stock version's awesome but the RM is just over doing it.

If anyone has a problem with it don't hesitate to give me some feedback. Sorry to those that have bought the ZR-1 already but thank god for seasonals as making money is no longer an issue.

I'm spec'ing up the Z06 as we speak and full details on specifications, full-break in HP, and other important figures will be updated and posted quite soon. Hang tight with me 👍

Hay Fresh, you haven't got a wheel yet? Man your missing out on half the fun of the game. I can't imagine thinking that you could ever learn anything w/ the goofy DS3. It reminds me of the thumb fights we used to have when I was a little kid

we're going with the Z06 instead

Gets my vote, I always like to have the power closer to the tire call and not have this lurking monster waiting to ruin my race. There's only so much traction on any tire and having so much power in reserve being held back by fear and desire to use it is just a little much sometimes especialy when the races are so long.

The Sunday time works well for me but I may have to miss one once in a while w/ my son starting his real go kart racing carrier. His first race was yesterday and I'm his transportation - coach - wrench - sponsor....

As far as the "racing #" goes it will be useless now w/ the new car selection. If you went w/ the orig. thought and cranked down the power equil to the Z06 we could still have the use of our racing # which always gets my vote. 69 looks the same when the car is on it's roof :)

Would be all over this one if it was earlier, ah well, have a good series.:(

Love the armchair race experts in here. Most sports car racing uses traction control, I guess we should tell them to learn throttle control, because like me, they've obviously never heard of it! hah!

I sure would like to find out who they are because I'd give them a good finger wagging when those guys give their 2 cents. :)

You cant bring reality into GT5. Now there is traction control in most racing because of safety measures(dont know why). Back then 10, 20 years ago there was no aids whatsoever in racing, now there is because the drivers are scared. Drivers had balls back then, now they dont. GT5 is already a little easy with no aids(with a few exceptions). If you think the Z06RM is hard try driving the Lotus Elise 111r RM.

I would sign up but Sunday at 7PM might not suit me. I'll let you know if Im available.
