Ok guys. After trying to tune the car on Suzuka I became a dis-believer. Compared to the Z06 RM the ZR-1 is much too powerful for its weight and tires that I'm going with. It also sounds crappy.

So we're going with the Z06 instead. Not too major of a change. I hope no one was too attached to it. The stock version's awesome but the RM is just over doing it.

If anyone has a problem with it don't hesitate to give me some feedback. Sorry to those that have bought the ZR-1 already but thank god for seasonals as making money is no longer an issue.

I'm spec'ing up the Z06 as we speak and full details on specifications, full-break in HP, and other important figures will be updated and posted quite soon. Hang tight with me 👍

The ZR-1 I built was one I just had lying around, so I'm not bothered. I was testing at La Sarthe, and it took me forever to find something drivable with it, but I did find something. However, that's La sarthe, so on a much twistier track like Suzuka, there still might be issues. Heavy damage will only complicate those.

Hay Fresh, you haven't got a wheel yet? Man your missing out on half the fun of the game. I can't imagine thinking that you could ever learn anything w/ the goofy DS3. It reminds me of the thumb fights we used to have when I was a little kid

It's possible. Difficult, but possible.

As far as the "racing #" goes it will be useless now w/ the new car selection. If you went w/ the orig. thought and cranked down the power equil to the Z06 we could still have the use of our racing # which always gets my vote. 69 looks the same when the car is on it's roof :)

The Z06 still has the racing number, does it not?

Love the armchair race experts in here. Most sports car racing uses traction control, I guess we should tell them to learn throttle control, because like me, they've obviously never heard of it! hah!

So basically what you're saying is because you're not good enough, you want us all to come down to your level, while insulting as at the same time?

👎

No, you made that statement yourself. I never said I couldn't drive without TC, you assumed such. Basically, what your saying is that your elitist attitude is a justification to discern whether or not I can race without TC? Because I made a comment stating my opinion you decide to criticise me for it? Then I give facts that real life racing series use TC and you reply I'm asking you to 'stoop down' a level? So whats your hang up? I can't ask a question without backlash? Some serious rhetoric in here.

The GT1 class, which the Corvette RM is supposed to replicate, does not allow Traction control. ;)

I only assumed you can't drive without TCS because of the things that you said. You basically whined that TCS was banned, then when Wardez explains why, and I provide tips on how to reduce wheel spin, you call us "armchair experts." Than you go around and call me elitist?!?

You got called that because you assumed! I just did testing with the Z06 w/o TC and it's not hard to drive at all. The Vette RM has 515hp w/o any upgrades and no oil change. GT1 class cars have closer to 600hp. Thats why I asked about TC. If were running it basically close to what the street car puts out, running w/o TC isn't so bad, but when you get upwards of 600hp it gets hairy without it. But anyway, I'd like to join this series. I just don't wanna be called 'inferior' or have players say theyd 'stoop down' to my level by using TC. Thats not a good sense of community! Elitist is how you came off when you said such things. Some players don't drive GT5 everyday, some don't have the skills to keep up with wheel users. I don't have the money to buy a wheel, I just get on with the DS3.

edit, I signed up. lefty has raced with me in the past, on nfs shift. I signed up because I respect him and his skill, also because I love this Vette.

Again, my assumption was bade purely on your own comments, specifically calling us "armchair experts." That was pretty childish, especially when I was actually trying to help you (how elitist of me ).

I apologize for what I said after, but you still insulted us after trying to help you.

Yeah true. NepalII. I hope you can join up at least for a couple races. You'd be more than welcome.

Well we'll drop any signs of possibly being elitist. One thing that we've gotta sort of get used to is that this is a big board so when it seems like we're giving out a bunch of really basic tips or advice it's because we haven't raced with you before. I just assume everyone's new to GT5 until I meet them on the track. I think that's a nice way to go about it as I'm not condescending when I do it.

I'm glad you like the car and yes I'm trying to keep it under 600 so we don't have to worry about the traction on exit as much so welcome to the series, hope you have a great time 👍

I wondered about this, I much prefer the Z06 myself.

For the record if people want to use TCS, it doesn't bother me one bit, because it slows you down. ;)
I stopped using TCS long before I got a wheel.

Here's the numbers for a fully broken-in Z06 RM at our spec.:

That's 631PP with full downforce.

Looks like we'll be shifting @ 6900 for best results. It's a little bit before red line so everyone knows.

I'll be posting a good stable base tune for anyone to use in our series tomorrow.

Crazy, I'm still at 542hp I think. I've done oil change, just haven't broken it in all the way quite yet. It'll get there though. Did some testing around the tracks you plan to race- best time so far is low 1:01's around Grand Valley East Reverse. 1:59's around Suzuka.

You need to go into settings, and select the titanium racing exhaust, courtesy of a 1.10 bug.

Distance:Pit stop required
Race Day: August 28th, 2011
Room open @ 6:30PM EST
Any word on amount of laps yet?
And a double-check on time, as that's 7:30 current eastern time.(EDT)

It's already installed, but I'll double check anyway to make sure. I think it's because I bought a brand new Z06 for this series and haven't fully broken it in yet. I hope people are pleased with it's color. Little trick I picked up by purchasing on in silver.

I can make the 1st, 3rd and 5th race if you need a reserve.

You guys must not be doing something right/missing something, because I'm at 575 hp after ~50 miles

It was the Titanium exaust deal, now it's at 569 hp :) zero miles :(

Cool now just run B-spec "Like the wind" Indy 4 times and you're set 👍

Do we post any times as we get used to the first track or do we just meet up on the 28th?

We're doing qualifying as it's described in post 3 for a couple hours before the race green flag @ 7:00 PM EDT.

This is to get new people used to the process. 👍

As I said a few posts up: I can make race 1, 3 and 5 as a reserve if you ned one. My car will be white, and number 11... If you need me that is. 👍

Just shoot me a PM if that's the case..

But but... I'm 11 :)

I know it's your soccer # but it's my racing number! Sorry again Dennis :).

Thanks though. Appreciate the sign up as reserve. 👍

It's not my soccer number.. IT'S MY NUMBER!!

I'll use number 92 then. (9+2)

Can you put me down as a reserve? Not too sure about Sunday Nights.

Orange - Number 14

Lol well anyway, 92 shall be your new footbally number. Time to break out that headband ;)

Sure Masi. Just go ahead and sign up through the form anyway, I'll mark it on the spreadsheet that you're a reserve. Same goes for you Dennis.

Also, to anyone that might get confused about us saying " Reserve driver" thinking, " Are there spots or not?"
There's not, they're just reserve drivers in the sense that they know they won't be able to qualify every week but still want to show up every once in a while. This is also a welcomed sign up.

Ok, did not see the sign-up link :D just gazed through the page lol my fault.

Just to make sure I got this right, our first get together will be Grand Valley East / Reverse and this is where the first Qualifying goes down with the lobby spectator judges?

Shouldn't we run head sets then for the Qualifying orchestration ( to hear for our time to go out) or do we just listen to the TV speakers wo/ the head phones?

You cant bring reality into GT5. Now there is traction control in most racing because of safety measures(don't know why). Back then 10, 20 years ago there was no aids whatsoever in racing, now there is because the drivers are scared. Drivers had balls back then, now they don't. GT5 is already a little easy with no aids(with a few exceptions). If you think the Z06RM is hard try driving the Lotus Elise 111r RM.

First off I'll just go ahead and point out that traction control is both used... and NOT used in MANY major racing series. Blanketing all racers as cowards because you think that using engineering to .. you know.. NOT die.. is silly. Drivers aren't scared some of the greatest drivers that have ever lived are the REASON behind the safety measures. They were tired of watching their friends die..

Secondly, properly setup the 111r RM is a dream to drive.. everything in this game.. properly setup can be a dream to drive. As for the guys complaining they can't get traction without tcs? Learn to setup your suspension, transmission and LSD, there are MORE than enough resources and people tend to answer questions pretty readily!

Differing driving techniques and styles and lines makes it hard for there to be 1 tune, but since its Z06 and not ZR1, no tc shouldn't be a problem.

It's not so complicated we'd need to send people out at specific times. We simply all practice together and whenever someone feels they're ready we can start their session. If a few people are ready then we can run up to three people at the same time (as long as there's three other people in the room able to watch them) but in this case, since it'll be the first time for a bunch of you, we'll do just one at a time and I'll literally roll a die in deciding who goes first.

Yes we're gonna get everyone up to speed on the qualifying process. CSL's just learned it when he started in WSGTC so it's not hard at all to pick up.

And yes it'll be the first time, but it'll be different from other quali. sessions as this is only going to run for a couple hours before the race when regular qualifying goes from Monday to the following Sunday.
Also the "spectator judges" are called Capable Hosts and once you learn the ins and outs of this system you'll be able to set up sessions for other people too.

On Sunday the only thing you'd need to do is watch drivers do their laps and confirm if they're clean or not.
