Oh. My. God.
That was f-ing awesome.
I need to get more friends who like rock. Damn rappers.
Speaking of jamming to songs, MTV let us in on its plans for the various tracks -- the most impressive of which is a proposed 100+ downloadable tunes in the game's first year alone. As an added bonus, the EA/ MTV/ Harmonix trio is using its muscle and money to secure as many master tracks as possible. Of the eight announced songs so far, six of them are the original masters ("Won't Get Fooled Again" from The Who, "Suffragette City" from David Bowie, "Don't Fear the Reaper" from Blue Oyster Cult, "In Bloom" from Nirvana, "Main Offender" from The Hives, and "Say it Ain't So" from Weezer), with only two covers ("Mississippi Queen" from Mountain and "Paranoid" from Black Sabbath). Obviously, that's a pretty good ratio and Harmonix says that it will continue to go after originals songs wherever possible.

Nailing down a Rock Band peripheral price has been almost as difficult as explaining how Keith Richards is still alive. An employee of Game Crazy sent us a print out of the pricing list which they received on July 3. The only thing that really jumps out is the Xbox 360 guitar price being $20 more than the PS3 (more on this in a second). Much of the information is still in line with the GameStop pricing reported months ago. Officially a Harmonix representative says, "We have not released any pricing details regarding Rock Band as of yet, but stay tuned."
The price discrepancy could go back to the issue from last year regarding Red Octane and their attempt to get a wireless guitar on the Xbox 360. Turns out to license Microsoft's proprietary wireless technology would have increased the cost of the wireless guitar and the company decided not to do it. Could $20 be the magic number being tacked on for the consumer? This would also assume, if the pricing is correct, that neither the drum set nor the microphone would be wireless given the lack of a price difference between the two systems. Although, we do have a statement regarding the price discrepancy as well. We were told by the Harmonix rep, "I am not aware of a price discrepancy." It looks like it's going to be a while before the actual, solid, final price of the peripherals gets nailed down. Right now, it's still all rumor and speculation -- officially.
But playing in a band is something you can perfectly do yourself in real life...
If you can do something easily in real life, why do it in a game?
The video from YouTube says it's no longer available. But the screens look awesome!
and expensive, if previous DLC is anything to go by...
Why don't you go rain on someone else's parade.![]()
Because some people can't afford to buy a $1000 guitar and $500 amp, then learn how to play. Then spend the same amount on a bass and drums.
And considering they don't play themselves, you have to play along with an MP3 or find some friends that can play. Then there is the whole ordeal of trying to get practices put together, making time between each player's work schedule to play...
You can buy a decent beginner guitar + amp for less than 200 dollar (same for bass, some more for drums). You really don't have to spend $1500... For the price of a 500$ PS3 and the game + controllers (and tv maybe), you can get a very nice instrument .And you can learn how to play yourself easily, you don't even need to read music notes. .
If you have ever played a real guitar, you have to agree with me that pressing some buttons on a guitar-shaped controller is nothing like it. The real thing is 10 times more better than a computer imitation, and when you can get the real thing for the same price, why take an imitation?
