You mean the don't-give-a-poop-pot-smoking-almost-suicidal-working-at-a-dead-end-job clerk didn't know? In my city too but didn't stop 2 mil people buying the game... Lol...
Amazingly, they seem to know about every other upcoming release, lol. ;)

It's hardly reworking history when the entire planet was waiting to pounce on GT4 and 5 when they were released, but for GT6, it's surprisingly not that hard to find people who had no clue that GT6 is out. It's not grasping at straws, it's a very real and puzzling thing that a flagship game release is still news to some gamers. I'm just pondering the few possible reasons how it could be, and there are pretty darn few.

Revisionist history. You see what you want to see because it's what you want to see. Like when you buy a new black truck and suddenly notice there are hundreds of them in your town just like yours. And if the entire planet was waiting to pounce on GT5 why did it only sell 10 million copies, why not 50 or 100 Million? Because the entire planet wasn't waiting to pounce on it that's why.

I seem to recall someone crowing about amazing bot A.I. in P CARS and posting a YT link to... cars politely running in a steady pace around a track and not doing much else.

And of course, you know what I meant by "the entire planet." The number of games that routinely break the 10 million sales mark are rarely ever racing games, save for one particular series, so... yeah.

Do you have a link to a post where I was "crowing about amazing bot AI in PCars"...because I don't recall using any words even remotely close to that. And if by "running around in a steady pace around a track and not much else", you mean, "Going at the same speed as the human powered car, on the racing line, without braking 3 times before the corner and then slowing down as soon as I get alongside", then yeah, that's what it is.

PD needs to show something next gen now. Yesterday. Contrary to what some think, Project Cars is gaining a following in the automotive community. Needless to say, it would easily sway me from the GT series as it stands now. And it supposedly has Isle of Man! This was posted on Autoblog today.

Looks amazing, can't wait...all I need in it is Nordschleife!

I agree just posted a new thread, and I think GT6 effectively put me on life support as it about killed my interest in the series entirely.

To be true, PD should be put to shame, they sold a incomplete game and now they will turn they attention to GT7/PS4, and the people that bought GT6 will be left to dry waiting for them to sort out the bugs, and finish the game they sold as complete.

pCARS is getting Isle of Man? I adore that track! I'll be getting this game alongside GT7 (if its complete and has the features like the latest update GT6 gotten.)

I don't know what to think anymore.

First of all, PD should wait with GT7 and first of all make GT6 better and what they've promised us!
But when I see a gametrailer like pCars now for PS4, I don't know. Make GT7 so great and complete as GT6 has should be (+30% extra content) and knock pCars over, I want to love this game again. :mischievous:

And with our unfinished Gt6 discs running to the stores for at least a 30% discount on the ps4-gt7 bundles.

I imagine GT7(P) coming later this year to PS4 as DriveClub is delayed until 9999. Called DriveClub "Vaporware" some months ago, sad to see it's delayed for an unknown time...

Honestly, GT6 should have been labeled a Prologue. No where near as polished as GT5.

Let's be nice ... Extended Prologue.

Seriously folks, PCars currently has my money already. I think PD and Sony see this. If they don't do something fast, they will loose a lot of GT sales. GT5 was upsetting and GT6 is ... incomplete. That's two strikes. I mean come on, you model the mars rover but leave out RUF, Konigsegg, and Sebring??? It's like PD isn't even trying to compete anymore.

GT7 is going to make or break GT as whole. PD has no choice but to build what GT1-4 started.

That's a given.

Sorry TokoTurismo. I just bursted mine and your bubble. Isle of Man isn't on their list. I was looking at another game. Sorry.

But I must say the track is still good.

No worries, I'm not disappointed if it isn't. Besides, pCARS has lot's of tracks in it that fills up me, you and everyones needs. :D:tup:

I think GT6 really should have been delayed, although people would've complained about it. Also, if they did delayed GT6, they will have to (HAVE TO) put it on PS4 rather than PS3. I say what Sony is doing is a good thing.

i think gt should be on stores only when finished, and like so many others could have been a ps3 and ps4 game.
the brand GT is now better than 5 or 6. i mean, gt5 and gt6 dont have the quality expected for the brand GT.
we all know that fans are bored of gt because of its constant "imperfections". its damaging the brand for sure and i hope sony/polyphony understands that

Well I'm sure it will still sell. But for me there's no point of a prologue if it contains features that are removed for the 'complete' game, like the GT5 Prologue was. That's just hampering the development of the game that they're releasing the Prologue for. If there is a GT7 Prologue I won't buy it, but I've never bought any GT Prologue game anyway.

Like a few here, Project CARS has my purchase guaranteed. Can't wait to see Solitudering when it's finished. Here it is on GPL:

Like a few here, I get interested in these next gen sims like Assetto Corsa and P CARS, and then I don't. I bought the AC beta from the Steam store over the weekend and haven't even installed it. P CARS does look like the sim to get, but I warm up to it a little, then I meh out on it. I keep thinking that Forza is a little better and more fun, and that Gran Turismo is better than that.

GT has spoiled a lot of us racing fans. For all the complaining of what PD frooks up or doesn't include, the world seems pretty happy with what is working and is there. And that's my thing. Physics better on the PC sims? Sure, I'll grant you that, a little, but GT6 is close. And somehow, racing a car in GT6 is more "real" in some sense that's hard to explain. I know sim fans have chickens when they read things like this, but I'm not the only one saying it. Our own Lawndart, not just a game programmer but real life racer himself, has said something similar, and he's a pretty technical critic of Gran Turismo. There's just something about this series that doesn't exist in other racers. It's hard to explain or quantify, but... hey, we wouldn't say it if it wasn't true.

Good luck to P CARS, Forza too, and hopefully it'll nudge Kaz into liking their features enough to include some of them in GT7.

Say, you're right on that @ShiftingGears. I totally forgot about PD having a thing going on removing features from fulls games after prologues. Maybe I'll skip it too for that? Good thing pCARS is among us. :)

I have to admire your enthusiasm and loyalty, Tenacious D! But for me, pCARS is addressing all of the issues I have with GT. My top three things I would change about GT are AI, damage and career structure.

In damage I'm including crash physics, crash sounds, the fact that the AI cars are immovable as well as just the lack of decent visual and (off-line) mechanical damage.

By career structure I mean that it annoys me that the races are so short, there is no qualifying, there are no championships of a decent length (ten races with at least 10 laps each, though I'd really like even longer), and just the lack of options. I think it would be great if we could say how long the races should be, include qualifying, increase or decrease difficulty etc.

Project CARS is doing all of these things and lets you customise the career, and all other aspects of the game as much as you want. Now I get that if your thing is tuning and driving hundreds of different cars then pCARS may not be for you, but if you want a great driving experience with great features, exciting, challenging AI and a realistic career mode then it is certainly looking like it will blow all other console racers out of the water.

If PD do these things for GT7 then great, if not, and pCARS delivers on its potential then I think most of the more serious fans of GT may well make the switch. Time will tell...

I'm sure someone will correct me if I'm wrong here, but as far as I understand it you will be able to choose different career paths - for example go the touring car/GT route, or choose the open wheel route, or the LMP route, or NASCAR route, or just chop and change as you wish. And in all of that you will be able to decide the difficulty of your opponents, the length of races, whether you want to qualify for each race or not (in fact I think there will be full race weekends available). And then outside career mode you will be able to create championships by selecting tracks, race distances, opposition cars and AI strength etc etc.

So yeah, a lot of options and a lot of freedom to make the game what you want it to be.

If this is all true and I sure hope it is, GT7 has a very long way to go to even get a glimpse of this. These are all changes many of us have been clamouring for for year in GT. Funny thing is, it's about the easiest thing to implement. All the elements are already there in the game, you only need to put them together...other than the competitive AI of course:lol:

Oooo. That sounds good. :D

That all does sound delicious, but it's a touch bittersweet. I'm such a huge GT guy. I want Gran Turismo to dominate SO badly. I want racing drivers, young and old, from all over the world, to use GT to practice these real-world tracks and publicly exclaim it as a fantastic tool and tons of fun.

I just love the sheer beauty and abundance of GT. It is also what cultivated my love for all things related to the Japanese automotive scene. All it would take is some simple decisions correctly made to enhance the actual racing within this vast abundance of assets (cars/tracks). I don't want to leave, but it seems that Sony (and possibly PD) is pushing me away with considerable force. :(

slighty mad studios are making all the right promisses for Pcars and dont forget Driveclub, its being remade, so there is a good chance that both games will be good racing games. the low reviews or complainings about gt6 seem to have made Sony more alert about games quality at release date...

http://uk.ign.com/articles/2014/03/...-the-drawing-boarda-to-make-driveclub-agreata

i cant avoid saying that Shift 2 also hade great promisses (graphics, phisics) and failed them (in my opinion)
at least in the graphical area it seems that this time they are realy making something good
lets see about the phisics, the content and gameplay
