It turns out you can't run out of gas and come to a dead stop. The car just maxes out at 50mph, which is a long and slow lap around Nurburgring. I think it was that way in GT3, but it has been years since I've played the game.

Thats exactly what happened in GT4 too. I remember doing a long three-quarters of a lap of Nurburgring @80kmh during the 24hr race after I forgot to pit :banghead:

I gave 2 of my bobs my FGT and sent them around the Laguna Seca endurance race and went shopping with my girlfriend. I was worried they would run out of gas with me not being there to fill tank up and all..I won the race! So I do it again to see how the gas consumption worked and the tank said empty and he basically coasted halfway around the track before coming in for gas..

Once in an interview regarding damage on the cars I hears manufacturers ask that by ni means the car can't stop working , no matter how bad you damaged it , so it can have something to do with that

you might have saved more time to turn around and pit lol

You are probably correct, but I just took my medicine and sucked up the 15 minute lap. I was 3 laps up already, so it didn't really affect the outcome of the race.
Simulation and all, I didn't feel right driving backwards either.

I wish when I ran out of gas in real life I could still go 50 mph, Id never fill up :D

Although cars supposedly aren't allowed to stop, 80 Km/h (50 mph) seems too much to me.
PD should have limited speed to 30 Km/h or less, but also made the fuel light blink when the fuel level is critically low, as it happens on many cars.

I did this on the Indy 500, i was that bored i totally forgot about fuel and the car died coming round the last corner on to the pit straight. That woke me up.
