You can have multiple accounts and for each account the save file will be stored in a different location on the PS3 so if you played account 1 for many hours and progressed then saved the game. If you logged into account 2 and played the game and saved it then account 1's save file would be untouched and intacted. But you cannot transfer account 1 save file over to account 2 the game would overwrite the save and all account 2's progress would be lost.
^^This. 👍
I've got no fewer than FIVE PSN accounts on a PS3 at the moment, and all of them have played GT5 at some point. My account has some 850 "days" of play, but some of the others have only two or three days. Each account has its own saved data. At one point, I *did* try to copy my main saved data onto one of the others (when it was first created) to see if it would take. It didn't. It told me that the saved data was for a different user, and couldn't be used by this account, or some such, and then it made a new data file from scratch.
I keep trying out various things, just to see if they can be done, which is how I ended up with five current accounts (one for each family member). We wanted to see if one could, say, run the Seasonal Events and then "gift" the cars (one per day, of course) to another account, and pass them down a "chain" or around a ring, allowing the other users to "farm" credits with them, without having to each buy their own Schwimmwagen, for example. It's worked beautifully - I pass the car to my wife, who passes it to Number 1 Son, who passes it to daughter, who passes it to Number 2 Son, who sends it back to me or passes it to friends. And since EACH account can do one gift/trade per day, the Peugeot 207 GTi went around the house in one evening, the Schwimmwagen in another, etc. So everyone gets a turn on the same car the same night, and everyone (hopefully) finishes the week 3.5 million credits richer. Except me, of course, since I'm the one buying the cars in the first place.
Hardly seems fair, huh? I have the idea, I buy the cars, and I end up with the least money out of the deal!
