SBKX comes out at the end of May and this years iteration is arguably Milestone/Black Beans most ambitious so far.
Milestones blog has lots of info that sounds very promising indeed.
http://blog.milestone.it/

Some of the highlights:
- You can choose different riding styles and each will slightly alter the bikes behaviour accordingly.
- 5 riding styles to choose from, based on 5 real riders: Troy Bayliss (Baylisstic Style), Ben Spies (Elbowz Style), Luca Scassa (Rocker Style), Troy Corser (Crocodile Style), Max Biaggi (Corsair Style).
-Special edition has 17 superbike legends to race as:
Pierfrancesco Chili, Suzuki GSX750R 2000

- Katsuaki Fujiwara, Suzuki GSX750R 2000

- Max Biaggi, Suzuki GSX1000R K7 2007

- Yukio Kagayama, Suzuki GSX1000R K7 2007

- Aaron Slight, Honda VTR1000 SP1 2000

- Colin Edwards, Honda VTR1000 SP1 2000

- Ben Bostrom, Ducati 996 2001

- James Toseland, Ducati 996 2001

- Neil Hodgson, Ducati 996 2001

- Carl Fogarty, Ducati 996 1999

- Troy Corser, Ducati 996 1999

- Troy Bayliss, Ducati 999 2006

- Lorenzo Lanzi, Ducati 999 2006

- Ben Spies, Yamaha R1 2009

- Tom Sykes, Yamaha R1 2009

- Akira Yanagawa, Kawasaki ZX7RR 2000

- Gregorio Lavilla, Kawasaki ZX7RR 2000

- Full telemetry is included showing every aspect real telemetry would show.
Drifting is harder and more realistic, you have to be aware of high sides and the bikes can be kept more controlled out of corners rather than having the back hanging out.
- Career mode spans 8 years, you play as yourself and ride for real teams, working your way through Superstock 1000, Supersport (600) and the Superbike World Championship.
- Superstock and Supersport series use 2009 data whilst the Superbike series uses 2010.
- All the riders ride in their unique way, so you will actually see the differences between them while racing, they will also behave and react as per the real rider.
- All 2009 and 2010 circuits are included except Silverstone (:() due to the circuit being announced too late and the new track having not actually been completed yet or Laguna Seca due to licensing.
American release date is likely to be Q3.

Sounding very good, career mode sound pretty interesting and more real than MotoGP 09's. Also retaining depth by having 3 classes in the game, should be a lot of fun in sim mode as well with the depth of physics they are going to.

Can't wait for SBK X, been playing SBK '09 a lot at the moment getting better at setting the bikes up which makes a huge difference, with help turn off naturally.

It will be interesting to see the new on-bike view and all the other bits they mention in their Q&A's section.

Bah, amazon.co.uk still didn't dispatch my copy.
That means I won't have it this weekend. Would have been nice to keep me occupied while its raining.

EDIT: I shouldn't post when I'm tired. Its scheduled for 28 May not April, duh

Hey guys, here's a good-deal tip: I was checking an order status at GoHastings.com and happened to check on SBKX as well.

They have it up for pre-order for (get this) US$14.99! There's no package pic, but they list it with an expected ship of May 11th (close enough) and Valcon as the creator (on the game details page) - looks like the real deal.

I placed an order and it processed for that price; it totaled out at just over $18 delivered with sales tax. Not bad, huh? Even if it's not a great game, it has to be worth that to fiddle with and looks like it'll be much better than MotoGP 09/10, which I skipped after the crummy reviews.

They allowed me to preorder ModNation Racers for $40 a couple weeks ago; it's now shown at $59.99, so this SBKX deal probably won't last either.

will it be like TT where you control the rider and not the bike with a tuck button that isnt hold up on that analog stick?

If its like SBK09 you can map the buttons to wherever you want, or notworry about tucking and let the computer do it.

Demo out on xbox live now, very nice, bikes feel smoother and more realistic in movement than sbk09. Evolving track is also very good and a nice addition. Demo gives you 1 bike from Supersport 2009 (Cal Crutchlow on the R6) and 1 Superbike from he 2010 season (Biaggi on the Aprilia) and gives you Portimao to race on.

I beleive it is, Italy on the 21st of May, rest of Europe (and other pal regions) on the 4th of June and America sometime in Q3.

Well you could download the demo from the EU store, if you have a PS3.
It's supposed to come out next week

Downloaded the demo last night.......certainly the best thing on 2 wheels on the PS3! Demo has a good slice of the online game as well, 16 players seemed to work without a hicup, Have to say also the feel of the bikes is very well done, R6 handeling is markabley different to the Aprillia in the demo as well.

Definate buy for me, if you haven't tried the demo yet go download it and post what you think.👍

this game is very nice ,MUCH better than m gp ...
normaly i dont like games like this because the arcade level is very high but sbk x is just awesome
i love it

ps:Some really interesting Q&A on Milestone's blog. http://blog.milestone.it/I'm especially looking forward to the "evolving track" feature. That would be awesome in GT5...

i think pd dont will make anything like in sbk x ,because you know Kaz wants that everything is like in the real life but the track changing in sbk x isnt like in the real ,because it has nothing to do where you drive, you can drive 3 laps outside the ideal line but after 3 laps you see that the ideal line is changing ...i hope you know what i want to say (play the demo and you will see)

Got to have a go at the demo. SBK 09 definitely felt better to ride in than SBK X. The bike felt way too stable and I wasn't totally a fan of the new square/x wheelie/boost buttons. I preferred when these were fully analogue on the left analogue stick. The bike hardly lifted the front wheel off the line. I remember in SBK 09 having to fight the bike back down when accelerating.

I'll probably still get the game though given it is overall an improvement if superstars v8 next challenge is any indication.

Wheelie boost button? is that in arcade mode? Try it in full sim mode with rider weight turned on......certainly a bit of a handful, also all buttons are cusomisable on the demo, switch the back brake to L1 from X to make it a little easier.

Picked it up today......dose adsactly what it says on the tin! Can't fault it though if your not into bikes it could get a little anal for you. Inclusion of a "historic" racing class with 7 bikes and riders is a nice touch, kawasaki 750 ninja GP bike? or Carl fogerty on his Duke? standard GP class, a 600 class and a super sport 1000 class. A lot of game in there and carear mode is vast. Learning curve is steed on full sim and a gentle touch and a lot of concertration is required. Having riden bikes for many years I'd say the feel of the bikes is spot on though aceleration can feel a bit tame on the GP tracks. Worth a go on the free demo available on the PSN store and if your into bikes it's a must have purchase.

Picked it up myself yesterday and can confirm the learning curve is almost vertical! Haven't played a two wheeler for a long time. Any tips on how to get on with the full sim mode would be much appreciated. Sick of ending up on the floor.

Begin in low or medium simulation and work your way up ?
Thats what I'm going to do when it finally arrives here (ordered from UK)
Too bad there aren't any decent bike controllers (wheel equivalent) or are there ?
Throttle control would be much easier with that

Hmm, right bit hard to describe this but I'll describe it best I can. Right this is for full sim, with rider weight turned on. First up looking at rider position, hunched foreward putting weight on the front is great for straight line speed but with no weight on the back don't lean your rider foreward apart from in the gentelest of curves, leaning back obviously creats drag to slow down but more importantly that weight on the rear helps with braking.......

Braking, the important part of cornering, in slow fast out......it works. Ok aproaching a corner, with bike in straight line lean back, apply front brake and then apply rear brake......before turning in make sure rider is in centeral position, rear brake is off and front brake is no more than half on, idealy not on at all! right your leaned in and your going too fast....now you can use the rear brak again!. Exiting the turn, this is where you need to balance the lean of the rider with how much power you can apply......full throtle will just see the rear step out followed by you high siding the bike LOL Throttle balance is all......to this end if the back dose step out reduce the lean and ease of the throtle slowly.....hitting the brakes, heavy steering corection or rapid throtle deceleration will all see you get into trouble LOL

The sweet spot is getting to where your simply controling the grip of the bike thats the biggest challenge and it's hard but very rewarding.

As with real bikes it's all about control of weight and grip with throtle brakes and your body weight, the game really tunes ino this well, unlike a car there is no losing the back or front and then correcting the mistake....you lose it you drop it! when it comes to full GP days, droping the bike requires it to be fixed in the pits, this can lead to you losing out on track time or whole sessions! so gently dose it, best to wait till the end of the session when the grippy dark rubber is down on track to make your fast runs.

2 tips to remember, rear brake is ideal for small changes in speed to avoid competitors and if you get in trouble get the bike as upright as you can and avoid grabing for that front brake!

Hope this helps, if it dosn't go buy a bike and get some practice in.....this may be a little extreme though LOL

You could start on the lower sim settings but your ultimatly aiming for the full sim experience, much quicker to get on it and get use to droping ot as you learn, should take no more than a few hours at the extreeme (if you don't ride a bike) to get to grips with it

Thanks man that is absolutely fantastic. Main problem is losing the front end under braking so those tips should really help me.

can you customize your riding position like TT?

~You get to choose from several different riding styles based on real riders when you create your rider. Not as in depth as TT but considering its the first time SBK has had ANY customisation at all.

Picked up the special edition yesterday, havnt played it yet but I will give my full game verdict soon.

yeah as mild ashers says theres a number of riding styles to chose from with a good explination of each.

Droping the bike into the corners is down to locking the front up as you turn in, friction v's speed, basicly your going in too fast and with too much front brake on.....understeer if you like. come off the brake turn in then corect the problem with the rear brake to scrub off the excess entry speed once you've settled in the corner and loaded up the rear. Use the external veiw at first so you can see what the bikes actualy doing in detail. Oh and of course as the track rubbers up theres more grip on the racing line and less off it.....coupled with tyre wear each corner on each subsequent lap is slightly different......and thats not taking into consideration actualy racing the other bikes LOL

A good tip is to speak with the engineer before each race and get him to set the bike up.......it uses about 30 mins of time but if you go put a few laps in first he works of you telemetary which should see the bike tuned for your style of riding and tune out any bad corners where your having issues with the brakes!

Reverting to real life I had to dump about a pound of preasure out of my rear tire today as the bike was a bit light at the back end due to the hot weather......completly changed the lose feel of the bike.......the game itself is like this and a simple change can make a big difference, but for those not into tuning the engineer option is a real plus to the game!

This game, is really good, really quite very good in fact. As said above, the learning curve is steep for sure, but my god, the satisfaction of getting a lap right, never mind fast, is super. Playing full sim, pro AI, riding a Yamaha R1 in STK1000, qualified 22nd and finished 21st out of 28, had an amazing battle for 21st with the races nominated rival. It is so much fun but you really need to concentrate on what your doing otherwise you will come off.

The legend riders is a nice touch as well, very hard to ride some of them but a lot of fun.

As with blackbeans last title, superstars V8 they make a very compitent game, I would say this title is a step up from V8 and is certainly the best bike sim on the next gen consoles.
carear mode works really well as dose the online aspect. bonus is the legends section for me and the race weekends......It was a good few hours before I rumaged through the big tin box and found the free code which unlocked the bonus 7 bikes!

You'll never get that true feeling of riding a bike from a simulator, theres just so many things feeding back info to the rider. Your not sitting in a seat with a steering wheel in your hand, your climbing all over the bike reacting to so many changes which are constantly changeing. But SBX dose a fantastic job at conveying this through the limited media of a console.

Another classic from blackbean and another title by them which will go mostly un-noticed.......Carl fogerty people! come on!!!!!!!!!
