Results PMed to YLG.

I drew virtually the same field as at Monaco, minus the Cobra but plus the Viper Concept. I was worried that the longer straights at Seattle would prove to be my undoing, but they weren't.

As soon as the green flag dropped, I realized there was a problem. I had updated the suspension settings for the race car, but forgotten the transmission. This meant my shift points were different from my practice car, which cost me a bit of time overall. I also forgot the Family Cups had tire wear, so I nearly overcooked the first turn of the hairpin, coming in on blue tires.

I made my first pass at the top of the hill on Lap 1, moving smoothly inside the Viper Concept as he braked for the right at the crest. Unfortunately couldn't get the power down well enough to carry me past the R390 road car; I lost some momentum tucking in behind him at the exit. Once the car was settled I moved inside again and nipped around him on the chute leading down to the next right after T1.

I dodged through the next couple turns, playing a little bumper tag with the Spyker, and squeezing by to the inside in the left 2 turns before the back straight. This pass was not as clean as I'd've liked, owing to the inside curb of that turn bouncing me a little wide, but I've seen worse in real racing. I braked early to get the car settled, and exited the second, sharper left tucked in behind the Viper convertible at the start of the back straight.

The big Viper ran away from me down the back straight, as predicted, but I caught up with him under braking at the new stadium, and cruised neatly inside as he ran wide on the cobbles. I lifted to stay stable across the tracks, then got back on the power to squirt inside the Zonda C12 heading into the short straight in the middle of the Canyon.

The rest of that lap was clean and the second lap was pretty good considering that the tires were not quite up to temp yet and my gearing was of course still wrong. My second lap was about 0.900" slower than my best practice time, but that's better than I had expected because lack of practice had kept me relatively inconsistent in the other car. Race lap stats for the second lap:

T1 - 33.689"
T2 - 1':19.683"

ylg, I submitted my time last night via email.

Duke has also graciously offered to tally up the results of the round. PM your week 9 results to him and he will get the results posted.

This was an interesting round to say the least. Short race with competitive (read: faster, but less skilled) AI, cold tires, tight course, etc.

For as much as the AI was scattered throughout the race, the only contact I had was when the Zonda rear-ended me on the back "straight" just before the downhill on the first lap. Watching the replay, I guess I actually benefitted by getting a 5 mph boost for the downhill run before braking for the right-hander. With the AI always braking early and wide, it was pretty easy so duck underneath them on the corners.

Based on the reported splits, I'd say we definitely had some variance in car speed, but in Seattle, it's all about how well you carry that speed through the corners. Should be some interesting results. 👍

Anybody heard from YLG? I don't want to give him a DNF because I know he ran the round, but I want to publish the updated points and weights.

This has gotten beyond rediculous. How is anybody supposed to run their new round when nobody agrees with the snap rule change, and nobody knows their finishing order and what ballast change they have to make to their car?

Looks like we are going to get another week extended.

YLG, if you cannot run-out the remainder of the series, just pass the reigns.

And in the future, pick a deadline time that you KNOW you will be here and can collect the results and submit the next round and publish the results within hours (sometimes minutes) of the deadline passing. Waiting anything more than 24 hours for results is just plain rediculous. I would suggest picking like 8 pm CST Sunday, or even better, like 12 Noon CST. That means you can have results and the next round up before monday.

This competition was fun, until the admin of it disappeared and then the compoetitors started falling apart. Granted you probably have a very good reason to have disappeared YLG, but you have been here enough times in the past 4 weeks to say to someone, "Hey, I can't continue with this, do you guys mind figuring out someone else to admin the challenge?" See 15 seconds to type that out.

This is why I left. It was very unorganized. Everything posted late (sometimes by 2 days). Not something I looked forward to.

On a positive note. The series was fun. I enjoyed the fact of driving around a slightly modded FF. I didn't care about finishing down the pack. I'd like to do it again but more organized and timely fashion.

this round killed me. i think i would have gotten a much much better results if it were 10 laps.

1'42.078, thats horable. my best lap ever was a 1'41.540. and can consitantly get 1'41.9xxish.

allwell, nothing i can do about it, im just glad that the next 2 rases will be 10 lapers.

Thanks, bobman, yeah - as a perennial backmarker, it does feel great up here on the podium. I got lucky with my passing points, I guess, because my out lap was pretty quick.

My best practice lap was 1':40.685" but of course in this round I was only carrying 5kg ballast after my last-place finish last time.

Well done Duke. The uphill jumps killed me this round, could'nt get the gearing right for them at all - having no ballast probably didn't help me much either.

Looking forward to the Autumn Ring - i missed it in GT3 and don't think i've raced there yet in GT4? - i'll have to get some serious practise in for it though. I'm just getting used to the RSX now and its already almost the end of the season!

jesus christ...guys i am sooo sorry for everything...duke i appreciate you stepping up and doing this. i wish i could have done a better job. all week i have wroked 6AM to midnight and this weekend is the first time i have seen anything but work and bed in over 6 days. i started this having just enough time to host this, and do my stuff, but work over ran everything...i used to work 12 hr days, and that wasnt so bad, but now i work 17hr days and it is just killing me. so i guess i (regretfully) relenquish this series to duke, who probably oes a better job at it anyway.

what do you do for a living? i could not imagine doing a job for 12 hours and thinking thats the norm. i think theres human rights being broken doing 17 hours. maybe its time to consider a new carrer.
