How tall are you? The NC MX5 is a fair chunk bigger than the NA/NB inside and the Toyobaru looks like it has a good few inches more headroom than the NC would with the roof closed.

That pic does make me think how well Ford has done to hide the Mustang's bulk. It's a lot larger than it looks.

6'4 300lbs. Sumo size. I'm like the Italian version of Chiyonofuji. Google him.

It's not so much headroom as it is leg room and width. My head pops over the miata windshield and it's pretty narrow. Smashing your nads between your thighs is not very comfortable.

Hmm. Well I know it's not a very scientific test, but the Toyobaru looks like it has more interior room than the MX5. The trans tunnel looks narrower and lower.

That was a good comparison, I don't really think the Genesis Coupe or Ford Mustang are all that large, that must mean the BR-86S isn't all that large. According to the chart, about two inches longer than the NC MX-5.

The Mustang is huge.

No, seriously, it's huge. It doesn't look like it from any type of distance, but when you get close...

As for this Subota... It's a Celica. IT BRINGS BACK THE AE86!!!1!11one, no. It brings back the RWD Celica days. It's just a bit too pricey, a bit too big, and a bit too good to be anything like the 86.

It's not terribly heavy actually...

Next to the Subota, sure, but it's far lighter than anything actually in its class.

200 away from an STI which has AWD mind you.

I'm fairly certain AWD would make it quite a bit heavier.

Actually...

The STi is all of, drumroll please, 70lbs lighter than a V6 Mustang.

Then consider that the Mustang is far cheaper.

Then consider that before you even come close to the price of an STi you can have a Mustang GT which has a nice 100hp advantage to counter it being 300lbs or so heavier.

So it's still heavier, even in the pathetic V6 form. Thanks for proving my point 👍

One of the stupidest posts I've ever read. I don't know where to begin tearing it apart, but I will anyways because it's so annoyingly smug.

70lbs is nothing. Bring your little nephew along for the ride and your weight advantage is gone.

The "pathetic" V6 makes 300hp (similar) and more torque. It's naturally aspirated, gets better mileage, and costs ten grand less.

As RJ said, the V8 is still considerably cheaper and gets far more horsepower that would easily counteract the weight change.

If you put some options onto the STi, it costs as much as a BOSS 302 but that's a whole 250lbs heavier :scared:

Why do you people bring cost in? I never said, nor quoted anything about price.

This is a loosing battle for me though. Always forget how loyal Americans are when it comes to Ford and Chevy. Carry on.

That can be said about all of his posts.

If you put some options onto the STi, you're into BOSS 302 territory.

The only option the top of the line sti gets is the navi, and even then it's at $39k. So it just barely misses the 302.
Man, I didn't realize the difference between the 302 and the LS 302 was $7k.

This is a loosing battle for me though. Always forget how loyal Americans are when it comes to Ford and Chevy. Carry on.

Kiddo, you are american but because you just moved to Japan, you're sackriding the japan bandwagon like there is no tomorrow.
Sti this, sti that because awd racecar.

In my opinion, buying a Muscle car that isn't a V8 is sacrilege.
Not even your parents care about your opinion.

Or how you willfully ignore facts?

Or how blind you are to facts?

I'm not blind to facts mate. I just choose not to believe some based on personal opinions, or in some cases, personal tests on cars, in the case of the Porsche argument.

If your going to talk facts. Then my argument about Porsche's being not as good as the GTR is a fact. The GT-R is quite a bit cheaper than a competitive speed Porsche.

I'm definitely not American. My father and mother are Japanese. Yes, I may have been born in the states, but I do not hold citizenship any longer as I like Japan so much more. It's not a Japan bandwagon... it's where i'm supposed to be. Nice try though.

How full of ass candy are you?

But I am mixed Japanese American. Mother is American, Father is Japanese. I have lived in the United States until about 4 months ago. And now live in Japan.

The tone of your posts and the abundance of attitude clearly those of an american teen and not the typical japanese male.

Now you're just changing things.

I don't mind Atsuko either. I mean, Yuko and Atsuko have very similar face features. Just my preference lol.

Can anyone say Supra?
I love it, not the funny looking rear wing (I'd like something a little more conservative) but all together its great and I like this car more and more.
That said, I've been reading over the past replies and some of this stuff is so far off base or off topic I'm having a hard time following the conversation.

Also gotta make this clear... A fully loaded top of the line Sti might hit 40k but its still not at that level in general. If people here are going to moan about the difference between 23.5k and 28k then please have the consistency to acknowledge the Sti starts at 33 and in a well optioned hatch like mine you walk out of the dealer paying 37k (after all is said and done). That's certainly not 40k and definitely a considerable difference for the crazy penny pincher.

Personally, I hate seeing talks like this with the price being so stressed. I've bought too many cars in my life to think MSRP is the be all and end all of pricing.

With something like this thread and car, I find the best thing to do is ignore prices and enjoy the speculation on looks/performance. Once the car is on a local lot I will check it for price and of course with a drive the performance question will be answered. Just makes me wonder... Will the Subby dealer let me test drive one since I'm a 2011 Sti buyer or will they avoid it to keep me in a Sti that costs about 10k more? :dopey:

Here's your smaller wing:

I'm assuming this is the top of the line model.
Wing, leather, suede, automatic trans.

I can't see them not wanting you buying a new car. More money for them.

How do you like that 2011 STI? I've heard the slight updates they made from the original 08 model made big improvements overall.

*edit*

Typo, 7 and 8 are o so close to each other. Thanks eSZee

Anyone know what size wheels the car is going to be offered with? They look rather small, which I'm totally fine with. I don't think any sports car should have wheels bigger than 17"
