Wonder where I can find the guy who's importing Toyota Badges.

Source? I was pretty sure all of them are coming out in the spring.

Fastlanedaily speculates that the BRZ comes first then the Scion. (They also admit they hope that isnt true because it would not be a good move on Scions ) I think its all speculation at this time.

So if I want to blow 20k do I get a Scion FR-S or an E36?

Actually, A Subaru PR person told them (well, JF Specifically) that the Subaru would come first.

But tires that are too progressive will progress you right into the wall.

If it's arse first, I'm sure most people wouldn't mind.

A co-writer who went to the Japan event says the Aussie media were spinning the thing all over the place. Too bad it wasn't the site's resident hot shoe who went... he might have had more to say about the car.

Equal or unequal length headers.
Looks pretty equal to me.

True but even they(FASTLANEDAILY) don't sound like they are completly convinced and universally it sounds like a bad move for Scion. I hope all versions of this platform do well I would like to see more of this kinda car show up. Also is it possible that the Scion version may not have the same content as the subie but may have a more extensive warrenty?

I hope the subaru BRZs headers are unequal. I love the trademark burble!

Depends on it you want a warranty or you actually want to pay those hella German maintenance costs out of your pocket. Toyotas are cheap and BMWs aren't, there's no two ways around it.

With that in mind, the E36 is probably the better car provided it's in excellent condition. It's quicker, at least. But it's also 15 years old.

JF from FastLaneDaily. His sources were reps. from Subaru and Scion.

Enjoy the first sounds of the GT86 boys!

There's another video from a Japanese tester driving it around and when he gets on it, you can hear they aren't unequal. Hopefully someone at Subaru at least told Scion and Toyota to take a walk and didn't let them use unequal length headers. There's still a nice rumble once you redline it and get over the crappy whooshing sounds...

I will go out of my way to fab up some unequal headers for mine. A Subaru isn't a Subaru until it sounds broken.

I'm going out of my realm here because even though I'm a die hard subaru fan, I don't know their motors too well. If it's still a Subaru motor and wrx headers fit a 2.5I, shouldn't they, in theory of course, fit this motor?

I do agree with the skepticism, seems like a dangerous move to have a brand that actually has a huge fanbase release it before a Brand with little to no creditbility does.

From what little I've seen, it is already seems less equipped. Warrenty I'm not too sure of.

It would probably depend on the packing of the subframe and whatnot. The older cars used unequal headers because it was easy, but the equal length design is more efficient. In search of more fuel economy they've probably gotten rid of the old design. Time will tell if the WRX parts out there now will fit this car.

Eric.
Dealership told me July, today.

Just my luck I turn 17 at the end of May... I'm gonna have to tell dad he needs to ait a month or so for "his" new sports car. I'm really hoping the insurance on this won't be crazy since it's not turbocharged so I would go broke getting a wrx.

That actually made me cringe. Hope that engine wasn't dead cold. :scared:

My brother is head of sales at Manhatten Motor Cars and there's a brand new 5.0 in front of his office. He expected me to start it and just give it a little rev... I filled his office with black smoke. The smell of exhaust took 2 days of open windows and a freezing cold room to go away. Sort of a a-hle move but I just couldn't resist since the thing wasn't coming home with me anyway.

Interesting. The prius tires squeal pretty easily so I'm not sure what they are trying to do here. Make the car fun by means of avoiding curbs and trees at every turn?

Did you miss the bit after the part you highlighted? It's almost certainly done so the car is easier to slide about.

I'm just guessing here too but I expect the Prius tyres are reasonably hard compound and can probably take a lot of sliding about without wearing too badly. Seems like quite a sensible move to me.

If people are that bothered about outright grip they'd be able to replace them, but again I can't help feeling they'd be missing the point of the car.

Of course, as has been pointed out, it's on different tyres from the factory anyway :dunce:

But tires that are too progressive will progress you right into the wall.

Only if the driver is a half-wit. Nobody turns into a corner on the limit for the very first time expecting there to be more grip than there is. You get used to it and drive with the grip levels in mind. Progression just makes it easier to tell how much grip you have left, whatever the ultimate level of grip might be.

Anyone know anything about the GRMN concept on Toyota's Japanese website? To me it looks as ugly as sin but an open top 3.5 hybrid engine with MR layout and four wheel drive sounds like it could be a lot of fun. I really do hope that Toyota are getting their groove back.

I hope (if there's an STi version) they go the length to make that engine rumble. It better have good aftermarket support to make it scream, otherwise it sounds like a Camry at low revs.

Boxer rumble? Meh, I like my Subies but I am not attached to the UEL sound. Heck, I'm even selling my SPT exhaust since it started annoying me.

When looking through the new cars I was wondering how they came up with almost the same as the Toyota.
