YouTubes: Realized the video on my iphone was not wide enough to get a decent look, so I just quickly panned around at crap. And there was an angry-looking puerto rican guy waiting to get in so it's short.

Experience? They're trying to sell a soft sports car to me. It does three things that my car doesn't do - ride smoothly, get decent mileage, and have cupholders. All three of which make it even more normal. As for the driving experience, I've got this thing beat twice over.

I can't tell what you were getting at here and I certainly don't know what you mean when you say you've got it beat twice over.

People buying cars probably will not be in the market for a mustang and a brz as competitors, it will be one or the other. Here on the net its a different story (one I'm not going to talk about), but in the world 'out there' people generally are the types to consider a mustang or a camaro. Likewise I'd see people looking at a brz or miata or Z depending on budget.
That in mind, I see where toyota and subaru were trying to place the car in the market but I'm not sure it will be profitable enough to continue producing unless someone high-up has a passion for low slung 4cyl rwd coupes.

Personally I don't think the mustang measure up at all.

The BRZ has 1. a high strung mechanical engine sound 2.smaller nimbler dimensions 3. thinner tyres so more dynamic less boring handling 4. lower weight, everything in a sports car to me. 5.the balance seem spot on from chris harris' video.

The BRZ gets the fine balance between power and grip, while most modern sports car are way over tyred and are obsessed with G figures, confusing cornering speed with sportiness.

I always wanted something like a MX5 with hardtop, and slightly more power, the BRZ is the closest thing to it.

If you watch chris harris' videos, you'll notice that anything that slides easily is the best car in the world for him. Put 205 wide prius tires on a miata, and he'll be in heaven. Do the same with a mustang. Before the BRZm his most fun to drive car was an AMG C class on donuts, keep that in mind.

As they would say in Boston, that slalom looks wicked fun.

I imagine a high speed lane change would be pretty dangerous though. It's not me, it's everyone else that I don't trust.

^ My tires/tyres (on my S2K) are on a verge of balding and it handles perfectly even at high speed. But yea its the idiots on the road that will give a big peek-a-boo... :indiff:

No, I mean the lane change test that they do. Looks like it would oversteer a lot because it's basically a scandinavian flick at those speeds. Could be dangerous.

69 mph slalom and .92 g on crappy tires? Wow! That's a beast with potential right there.

Could be dangerous.
If one has no idea what they're doing, yes. But then one wouldn't have any business trying it.

It's an emergency lane change broski. You don't try it for the hell of it, it's to avoid accidents. I just hope everyone that buys one knows how to counter steer and all that jazz. Would hate for the car to get a bad rap and killer insurance.

You don't? I do it all the time just to play around with my car. Not on the highway of course, but I've done it plenty of times and I've yet to crash and burn. Sprained a few neck muscles but I haven't hit anything.

Hell no I don't. My car would break in half like a Korean bean cake.

0-60: 7.3s
1/4 Mile: 15.3s

According to the testers, it could do better if the third gear rev limiter wasn't set at 59.2mph.

About on par with my old MR-S. Which was fun, but certainly left me desiring some more power on the Freeway for merging and over taking, etc.

Edit: And damn you Azuremen, now I've subconsciously named the car "Breeze Freeze."

I'm a wizard. Deal with it. :sly:

The car should have plenty of highway power, at least compared to what I'm used to. It's lighter and has more torque than a Civic Si which pulls well enough in 6th gear. Quicker than my car, that's for sure.

The 6,000(brz) yearly production made sense as it created a bit of exclusivity but it also didn't create that much of a shortage. The MX-5 sells <20,000 units worldwide and I was expecting the frs/brz duo to sell about that(pre orders are at ~13,000). Now Fuji said they are producing 100,000 units annually. For whom, exactly? They want to outsell the best selling cheap roadster 5:1 in the first year?

Roadster =/= sports coupe. The market is already limited for roadsters before you even start, even for a popular one like the MX-5. Simply for having a roof, the BR-Z/86 is already more of a proposition for a lot of people.

I'm not sure how familiar you are with Chris Harris, but take everything he says with a pinch of salt, a little like Clarkson. Yes, he likes to go sideways everywhere, but believe it or not that's not his sole criteria for what makes a car good. Some of his favourites of recent years have been both a) diesel and b) automatic.

And he hates the Miata, despite sideways-ness.

They do?

Also I would think that's a typo and its second gear limiter is at 59mph.

I doubt the second gear limiter is that high... The standard 5spd. wrx just gets 60 in second, my sti needs like 58 and then has to go to third, it wouldn't surprise me if the BRZ was the same way.

And I'd think the genesis coupe, civic si, and brz are going to have a lot of fun playing together. :P

You obviously haven't driven my car.

Around 60 sounds pretty standard for second gear. That was the end of second in my Del Sol and Si, as well as numerous other small cars I've driven. My RX7's second goes to 70 helping contribute to its slowness.

Kinda sucks they didn't place the shift just after 60. Most likely it actually has a sub-7-to-60 pace, but the shift tacks on a few tenths right at the end. Poorly spaced for marketing purposes, as even 0-100 kmh is 62 mph.
