Nice. Like the wheels on that second black car - funny how wheels that worked on the AE86 still work on the GT86. Still don't think I've seen a bodykit that looks as good on the car as just leaving it standard with some nice wheels, either.

Technically the Toyota is a rebadged Subaru, since the car is 90% Subaru.

I thought only the Boxer engine was Subaru since its kinda one of their signature features.

No, the only things Toyota helped with were the direct injection on the engine, and the the exterior styling of the car. Mechanically it's all Subaru.

Edit: Actually the rear diff is Toyota.

Subaru and toyota can't agree about the gearbox, Toyota say its a Lexus unit and Subaru say its a box from the legacy with tweaks.

Anyway, I'm a little disappointed. The concept shown a 1000kg, £20,000 car. Production has seen a 200kg and £5,000 increase in the car and it's lost some of its nice touches like the TFT speedo and the rear lights.

^ By the way I see in person, the MT is based on the Legacy STI, look at the way it was designed. I have a friend who has a Lexus IS250 6MT Sport, Toyota claims that it was based on the same mech. Still yet to be driven.

-> I've driven countless Subaru's and Lexus/Toyota's MT units. Once I drive either Subion, I will determine which its based from. Some Euro-journalists claim that when they drove the GT86, they said it felt like an Impreza. It had that signature Subaru notchiness to it, well...similar to ALL Subaru's that I've owned! :dopey:

^ But based on what we see, it might be based on the IS250 given by the way the (R) gear is placed... ;)

BRZ MT is nothing like STi 6spd (or any other Subaru) in feel/notchiness/shift travel.
In the BRZ my shifts are almost telepathic.
The only similarity - rear lockout ring, that's about it.

MT is a joint design effort between Toyota, Subaru and Aisin. Here's a link with some info (at the end).

Just realized that the song they used with Meisa Kuroki to promote the BRZ is called "Breeze out".

Not sure what you mean by telepathic.
A lot less physical effort than in USDM Subaru STI/Specb 6spd. So--you subconsciously think "it's time to shift into 3rd", flick of a wrist and it's there. Notchiness/feel is exactly enough to let the brain know that the gear is in.

This is mostly relative to subaru spec.b 6spd, which is almost identical in feel to the current gen STI (same hardware minus stiffer tranny bushings in the STI).

How to drive customers away? Use dubstep in your commercial. Success, Subaru.

Do you not get that dubstep is the current thing in general?

Most people aren't going to be driven away at all because Subaru used a drop in their ad, more so when the drop fit quite well with what they were going for.

I'm sure we've all seen some out on the roads by now. But here's my spotting of it at autocross. (My first time going to an autocross event too) Was tempted to get a ride with the driver (If you sign a waiver, you're allowed to ask drivers that have no passengers if you can ride along.) :D But he finished his runs by the time I signed up. :( Just some pics that you guys might be interested to see...?

The driver didn't thrash it that much, but it looked alright. Fastest time was around 50 seconds (fastest lap from a tuned car was around 47 seconds). Sorry if it's not much of an interesting post. Just thought it'd be interesting to share. :nervous:

Still waiting for someone to be the first to do an LS swap in the BRZ/FRS. It may mess the distribution up a bit, but the fun it probably ensues would certainly make up for it I'm sure! :)

Don't really see it fitting in the engine bay, honestly. Kind of a low profile they gave the bonnet and what not.

Aa GRAMMY?!?!? If you said MTV music award, then maybe I'd take you srsly.

I think you just like to be mad at anything you don't like.

Also, MTC stopped being about music around a decade ago, so I fail to see your point.

Sarcasm, was my main point, Grammys having no credibility or any relevance was my 2nd point.
I'm not mad at anything. I couldn't care less about dubstep and made a stupid, subjective comment, to make that point obvious.

Lol mtv

Saw an frs on the road just recently.

Also, if the (r) is next to first on the left Id expect it to have a different origin thana tranny with the (r) next to the 6.

That said, Im at about 100% on not getting a 86 until I see the sti. Sounds crazy but I really dont see good feel and 200hp being enough to overwhelm me to drop the sti.

Rotary Junkie
Didn't someone already stick a JZ in an FR-S though?

If a JZ fits, an LS damn well will.

Theres also one with the V8 from the IS-F. Honestly I don't like it but what does it matter. If it makes them feel special so be it. If I get one it'll stay with the boxer and N/A. Maybe enough tweaks so it can rev to 9k. Would be music to my ears...

I haven't seen a gt86 or BRZ in Carlisle, well. I seen one but it was unbadged and I only seen it for 30 seconds.

Figures that the Estonians would do it first.. :D They're as bad as Russians when they're driving.
