The car wash works perfectly fine in both games. Dirtiness in GT1 and 2 is the progressive disappearance of reflections on the car as you drive it. In GT1, you can do a couple of championships and you'll start seeing an effect, but in both games, the quickest way to build up that dirtiness is to drive on the grass for a while. In GT1 it'll take a few minutes before the car is completely matte, but in GT2, for some reason PD made it much much longer. Still will happen, but you need to drive on the grass for like 3-4x as long as GT1 to see it.
The Car Wash just restores the reflections on the car.

At last. I seen it.

I decided to buy new car and participate in championship with 5 races (5 laps in each race):

3rd track - Clubman Stage Route5 II - Car is dirty already

1 Car is dirty-2.JPG

My dirty car compared to clean AI car:

After race menu - The car returned it shininess

2 After race menu-1.JPG

The mistake in backlight texture (at the bottom of right back light) - pink stripe light lights on on the right, but not on the left

At - last. I'm in car wash room after championship. The car is dirty

After car is washed - at last I seen effect.

Thanks to everybody who helped me. Now I know that it works, you just need to ride more on grass to see this effect.

The post race menu doesn't display the diretiness, so that's normal.
The reflector on the right tail light is also standard on the late R33 models. It's not a mistake.

Also you're welcome 👍

Hello, can anybody tell me if that typo in torque stat actually makes the car even faster, or is it only a typo in stats page for NISMO 400R?

(note: in car tuning page it shows 347lb ft

It'll just be a bug in the display stats (if it's only that car) or the unit conversion (if it's all cars). The car setup menu shows the actual torque figure being used by the physics engine.

The Car Wash just restores the reflections on the car.
Besides the visuals, is there a performance penalty to dirtiness?

BTW, there is a bug that "washes" your car for free - just start a test run before a race and it will be all shiny again. The Car wash still considers the car dirty, though, as the option to wash it is available.
