not to be mean.. but have you been under a rock or something? there has been a huge rift here since the games release.. heh.

I only started playing GT about 2 years ago, my first foray into the GT world is when i bought a 2nd hand PS2 which came with GT4 :)

Which i must say, GT4 is far superior to GT5 in almost every respect...with the obvious exception of more cars (still not enough classics) and better graphics/physics.

No the sad part is, you missed the point. The man did not want to do that in the first place :sly:

And just because they change events around, now it is a must for him to do? I guess that's the point i don't really get. I mean the bonus races were very nice, but credits are not hard to get in this game at all..

Doesn't that depend on the obvious...such as how much time you have, and how willing you are to do the same races over and over and over again?

It's not only about XP or credit income! Don't you want an F1? You would buy it some time anyway and now you have races for the car. If not then just don't get it and save the money for a car you really want to have...

What I will miss now is the specific cars on the events! I wouldn't know the SpecV '09 yet or some other great cars...

There is nothing to it, just wait until you can afford the F1 car and drive it online...

For me this seasonal event was a buzz kill. I was hopeing of getting that fat number of credits and exp that I need, but nooo. And I see it's like only me who whine about this. Can someone explain why I don't like these events but you guys do? :S

Well i meant with the release of GT5 has the rift really increased.. GT3 an 4 days were definitely a little different around here lol. and yes i was here lurking 10years ago.. but with a different account that was lost due to me not coming around for years and forgetting or it being removed for inactivity.. im really not sure what happened to that old account lol

Yep, I'm with you, i understand. But from my POV, this new round of seasonals has increased that rift notably.

because its not about the exp and Cr. its about the racing. :) i guess we can always hope they alternate out a bonus event now and then to give us some fat cash lol, i sure wont mind it at all. But its far from a necessity for myself

the whole problem here is the ancient grindtastic mindset those silly asians have and they seriously need to get that out of their systems because it simply doesn't make us jump higher for joy here in the west.

I agree that nothing should be handed out to the player BUT I do think the xp/cr rate was completely fair before season 7, why? Well first off, lvl 40 is an endless grind by itself. Second, the whole point of the term "seasonal" is that they were temporary. So having an xp and credit boost once a week is completely fair when you have to get back to grinding after it anyway, especially for those who don't have the time to grind or can't be bothered with. And really, grinding in a racing game? If I need to grind I'll just boot op random asian mmo no. 2312491720.

And that's sum up the problem of this new seasonal formula, they just made it more grind.

Of course, PD took the candy from the baby! (not calling you a baby by the way) lol :)

I thought they did that when i bought GT5 and found it to be a total detachment from GT4. with the exception of the rather dumb Bob and AI system in general...i cant fault GT4 the same way i can GT5....or is that just me?!:nervous:

The thing that makes it difficult for PD is that the rewards should be relative to the current level of the person playing the game.

With the previous seasonal reward system you could start a new career, do the seasonal events and be halfway through the levels in one afternoon. If you already were in the 30s then the XP rewards would help you get up a level without the terrible grind that would otherwise we necessary.

The new low rewards work for people just starting their career. I can remember when I won 25k credits with the Polo cup and be super happy with it. Now I'm almost level 33 and getting less than 100k credits and 15k XP just isn't going to help me get anywhere.

I haven't done the new seasonals yet.. but I plan on enjoying them for the race and don't expect much more in terms of rewards. For leveling up I will have to do many more endurance races and for the money... well... I'll resort to trading and duping I guess.

I haven't loaded up the Seasonal Events screen yet... just basing this on what I have read in this thread so far but...

It looks to me like this is a backward step - unless you already have a suitable car in your garage you now have to spend more on a car to enter the event than you win back in prize money?

Hmmm... I don't see me spending the next 13 days grinding A or B spec to be able to buy the F1 car to enter a race where I will win much less than the car costs to buy - where is the sense in that?

This makes as much sense as the Lupo Cup - bought a Lupo GTi Cup car, entered A spec and won a standard road going Lupo, entered the B spec races and won a standard road going Lupo GTi - I now have 3 Lupos...

*sigh* Come on PD - make your minds up on what you are doing!

Hence why i say GT4's game play and progression was better...

A classic case if i ever saw one of, "it's not broken but lets fix it anyways!" mentality.

So, basically, all I see is the whine of people who want ridiculous and easy amounts of money, right?

Because, we got:

- more races,
- more choice
- variety of cars
- ability to repeat the races
- very fair amount of XP in those races

We didn't got:
- proper restrictions (suggestions)

We lost:
- huge, insane and crazy credits payout

OK, I see the problem for you. Well... so inconvenient :D

:)

I like new events, shame they didn't bring back restrictions

I'm trying to understand why people are complaining about the SE not giving millions of money anymore, because they waited for them to collect fresh cash in order to buy more cars.

During the time I waited for the new seasonal events I had my Bob do the DCC more than 10 times, which got me loads of money...

These SE are the most logical and perfect solution and nobody actually gets hurt.

Or am I not seeing something here? ;)

I pretty much agree, and think that this thread is the perfect indication of what I've generally thought from reading GTP, that PD can't 'win' no matter what they do.

Personally, as someone who doesn't own an F1 car and doesn't have the cash to buy one (or the time needed to play enough to earn that cash - WRS starts next week), I would have liked it if the seasonal events offered a car for each race that you could 'borrow' like you can in online lobbies. That would mean that those that wanted to run the F1 races could do so without needing to have the 10m in cash.

(Of course if these events didn't end after 2 weeks then it wouldn't be necessary, so maybe that would be an alternate and better solution).

You see, the two parts in bold are all that matter to me. I would have liked some more classic GT tracks, but other than that, I could happily just drive the cars online and in arcade mode without the need for A-Spec at all, that's just a bonus. I think that the biggest difference in posters on GTP is between those that are happy to just drive and race, and those that want to play a game with achievements and trophies. I'd say that the former are definitely happier with the game than the latter.

Does anyone know if you get more xp if you use a less powerful car? Or is it fixed and you can blitz this easily with a very powerful car?. If it is the first, then "good on ya" PD!

But at least the power guide is good, for the hardcores you know where roughly you need to be, and for those people that struggled in the first two seasonals, well they can up the power to where they need.

For example my 10 year old brother plays it and there is no way he would be able to get anywhere near the lap times required to win the first two rounds, now they are able to be enjoyed at any skill level.

I love racing too but I've become lazy, I did the 4wd to see if there was a reward after it but no.

Oh well.

Amen.
I pitty my ps3 lol she will work her ass up grinding and grinding... it's my 3rd PS3... but i might aswell be going for a 4th Sony Console! lol

Nice events, lousy pay outs. I don't feel like grinding and I'm sure many of you dislike it as well, so race that actually help you rank up without doing them a gazillion times would be nice:grumpy:

Look I'm level 32 A-Spec and 19 B-Spec, so A-Spec I'm more or less stuck as I do not have time enough to do endurance races longer than 4 hours. B-spec I can advance a bit more, but as I'm short of playing time I rather drive by myself than let Bobo drive my "jewels".

Once said all of these new set of seasonal races gives a fresh air to the game and I'm always eager to race them, of course I could be a little bit disappointed with the xp and credits (show me the money!) but hey I got plenty of months to keep playing this game so I'm not bothered about it. I do not mind to be level 40 either as soon as I enjoy the game.

I'd say we should be somewhat grateful to PD so they keep the game alive, if they put Ferrari F1 races is because they have heard about complaints about that, so lucky for those who already purchased those F1 (not me).

Anyway the main complaint I guess from most of the people is the luck of events, if they can not "fix" this for A-Spec, then I think they will keep on updating events for a long long time.

And please do not use a beast for those races, just try several times from lower p/w ratio to a higher one and enjoy how it feels to keep improving and how it feels with different cars, well this is just my opinion, no offence.

Cheers.

You are right that those who wanted the online racing are happier than those who want to play the game for the achievements, that comes across almost as favouritism and bias towards the online community...not cool from my POV and the POV of those who bought the game to play the game...

How hard would it have been for PD to cater to both "parties"?

Overall though, i agree with what you have said :)

Edit:

This is the rift i was referring to that before was not present in the GT community until the edition of online racing in the GT world.

Yeah, I was hoping for high payouts for #7 Seasonals since I went on a little shopping spree 2 weeks ago. Grinding Indy might be the legit way to do it, but I'm not doing it. I'll do the 12 races once and then resort to trading cars.

As fun as the new races may be, I don't really see a reason to lower the payouts. PD must have read the complaints about grinding, hence the first Seasonals. But now they're just like A-Spec, as has been said. Oh well.

I had fun with the FR seasonal event. Used the Mugen car and destroyed them. Anyways it was fun using a car I hadn't used in weeks. The payouts in credits and xp are very low and could have been thought out more. If it was PD's intent for us to grind the new seasonals then they at least should have made the payouts on par with the Dream Car Championship or something.

I was fortunate enough to get the F2007 as my BSpec 24 gift ticket. Man, that thing is a treat to drive...so much more fun than the FGT (in my opinion).

Too bad I don't feel like playing GT5 at the moment (think I burnt out after completing the BSpec)...dvd binge at the moment lol.

Hopefully I'll feel up to it before these events dissapear :)
