Seasonal Event # 3

Forgive me but isn't A-spec set up with very little restrictions... So seasonal events were meant to present some challenge along with a real possibility to help people improve their driving? And completely optional? Also with the added benefit of giving the reason to buy other cars you may never have bought without some kind of reason?

I'm not too keen on a sand box GT... There are other games that fill that, I want some structure or simply remove racing from GT and really make it a plain driving game...

I fear too many years have gone into technical accomplishments and no thought given to actual game play... this is feeling more and more like a technical demo than a game...

Just my thoughts on the new seasonal events. Maybe the lack of restrictions is to give the casual gamer a chance to get their levels up quick and give them a chance to buy the higher priced cars and check out races higher up in the a spec events? Most people that purchased the game Day 1 are vets to this franchise and enjoy the challenge but I noticed there were alot of threads about people wanting stuff unlocked from the start and all that jazz due to not having time to grind blah blah blah. To keep those sort of people interested these new seasonals cater to them in that they can overpower through to get enough cr and levels to unlock alot of stuff without having to bother with the 'slow car' a spec races. If it gets more of a user base for the game then I'm all for it.

I'm perfectly fine with them mixing things up with their updates. Not every update needs to be a challenge geared towards the elite racers of this board.

generic whiner: "I'm perfectly able to set the challenge myself by using a stock or lightly tuned car, but i cry and whine if people with lesser skills than mine are allowed to get some easy xp and credits! Damn you PD! How do you dare allow those newbie scum to win a race against the AI!"

I agree with what PD is doing. Make some races hard and others easy and then something in between. Like the guy before me said, not everyone is really good at the game. You all complain way too much about nothing. BTW does anyone know if you can race these more than once and get XP? I know you cant get more credits.

it says no restrictions on tuning and mods --but my rm 111 elise couldnt enter

also are there any prizes for the time trials or is it just an excuse for me to look at how bad i really am at this game
and i can see all the top racers have racing wheels so .... i guess ill just have to get one

Jesus. I don't think I've ever come across a thread with this much whining in it. If you think the events are too easy, use a stock car or simply don't race them.

I had forgotten just how much fun Trial Mountain reverse is, with all those bumps and jumps right in the middle of the corners. Thanks PD for reminding me :D

I like a challenge too, but I'm glad they made these set of events easier. I could really use the money and XP. People can still make these events challenging for themselves by running them with a stock car with no HP upgrades, just like before.

So basically the people saying it is too easy don't like it when others make easy money? Or is it that they don't have self control and need PD to force them into using a car that isn't over powered? I'm really lost on this one.

Many good points brought up in this thread. Let's have an easy set every once in awhile so the "newbies" can get some XP/$$. It ain't hurting anyone.

If you want to be a stud then run it stock... If you're REALLY good then run it with bad tuning. Go backwards on tire selection if possible. Turn it into your own 200 point A-spec race.

The time trials are where the real studs go anyways. Don't see many GTP_ monikers in the top 100 for week 1. Congrats to the 5-10 people who made it.

The easy difficulty level is propably both to test the waters and to cater to wider audience. Have to wait couple of event updates more to really be able to say what PD is after.

haha no tuning restrictions, Citreon WRC/Rome challenge is the easiest 1.5m cr. i've made in the game so far, 1st by the end of the 2nd lap, if only we could use this event for grinding lol

Yeah. And that Ford GT is a really good car with its own personality! 👍

But I laughed hard on this...Even single GOLD special event is way much harder than this! :)

This one was definitely a lot easier, luckily I had a maxed out Ford GT on deck, golded that the first time out. Whereas the GT-R challenge, took me maybe 5-6 races....

i've golded the prius, ford gt, and lotus one. only won each by 2 seconds each.

I just didn't use racing tires, and didn't upgrade the cars.

The Audi I came in second and way off from leader, I'll have to redo it.

Can't do the WRC one. i don't have the car and I'm not paying 850,000 when it's a prize car. Hopefully I'll win it before the 19th... and I suck at rally.

I don't think I can win the TTS race without tuning. I'm a good 15 seconds behind first place, taking second. Well... I guess 3 seconds a lap isn't too hard to shave off if I tried harder.

I wish they had kept it like before, it being hard is what made these events so cool. Now I bet you can just max yourself out and dominate them :(

I like these events actually. Like most of the others on this game, they're as challenging as you choose or choose not to make them. I'm getting a lot of money and EXP, and since I'm sitting on level 29 in A-Spec right now and trying to get my creds up to 20,000,000, this is good stuff. :)

Can't get to my ps3 at the moment so, what model c4 is used for the Rome event, is it a standard model or the won you win from the loeb event? Can you buy it separately?

Sebastian Loeb rally special event GOLD - and you get the car...

BTW: Lotus race - spun out 3 times, 1st place by end of 3rd lap...racing slicks...

Dear PD! Please enable full mechanical damage to seasonal events!

Or you can just NOT max the car and have fun and a challenge?

is anyone holding you at a gunpoint to waste money into overpowering your car, or what?

Oh.. so now we can race it like we want and enjoy the game the way we want to?
-Whether that is racing the car stock or beefing it a little all the way to the max.

Sounds good to me. :-)

I think one of the issues is that the first 2 events were set up so when maxed out (their restrictions) it was a real challenge... With the new events we don't know if a stock car with stock tyres will be enough to win? It would suck to waste a few hours playing only to realise that you can't win it with a stock car? Thoughts?

It should only take one or two race to know what is possible with a stock car, actually I can tell you right now only the TT and Ford GT races needed upgrade.

What upgrades? :P I just realised when I race normal A-spec I just beef my cars up and win by the first corner.. I don't know why :(

But I loved the first 2 seasonal events (haven't golded the RX-7 Tsukuba one yet tho)

There is a pretty big difference between being given a goal that you know is difficult but possible to shoot for and just given a lot of options to do with as you please and find out by trial and error where the challenge is...

I can always underpower my car for more challenge, but there is a point at which you just CANT win the race anymore so it's not a challenge, it's an excercise in futility.

The seasonal challenges were great because they gave you limits that were difficult but doable, this meant you could always enjoy your work knowing you were working towards an attainable goal without the possibility of just wasting your time on an impossible challenge.
